Dancing with Crows - Season 2, Episode 1

I started putting peanuts out on the balcony towards the end of March wondering whether the crows would come back. For a few weeks, I only saw bluejays taking peanuts. Finally, in early April, I saw my first crow on the feeder.
I setup my video camera and started off with the same gadget that I used last year. This is a votive candle holder with a string attached with hot glue. It was almost like he'd already seen these puzzles. He just so politely puts it aside.
Looking back at last year's videos, I think maybe he had.
This crow eats his peanuts on the feeder by holding them with one foot against the edge and pounding (and sometimes really pounding) them with his beak. One of the crows from last year had the same behavior. He became a frequent visitor. In the first couple weeks I saw him maybe 5-6 times a day.
