i don't need any of the guitars, i just need their guitar playing abilities!! top top playing again the chemistry here is amazing
sorry to be offtopic but does any of you know of a way to get back into an Instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tips you can give me
@Dax Chase Instablaster ;)
When I grow up I want to become Peter Honoré
So does he!
+CaptAnderton Lee Lee King!
genuine LOL funny reply
these guys sound bl**dy brilliant together
you guys should record an instrumental album
I'd buy it
Ha! Loved the intro, looking for the acoustic room, going through the attic and then walking to the front of the store where the acoustic guitars were... LMAO...
Bought the X1AE after watching this video. Bought it about a month ago to play while being deployed here in Afghanistan. Gonna by the 000-28EC when I get home. Thanks for the informative and entertaining video guys!
I've had a 000X1AE for 5 years now and it is my go-to acoustic. The top has darkened over the years and I've written more songs on it than any other guitar. It goes on every trip with me. They are truly great acoustics with great pickups and tones!
I also have the 000X1AE and I play that guitar more than any other guitar that I own
How is the action on this model? Did u have to set it up or is it fine?
Man seriously, Mick has some serious licks! Amazing!
Guys - your playing is bloody wonderful!. I'm looking forward to the first Andertons ensemble gig - cheers fellas
Some nice playing there guys :) 'Unplugged' not only put acoustics and Martin's company sales up, it also kind of relaunched Clapton more back up in the mainstream.
bvninja it's what made me start taking lessons . . . with an 80s rock fiend / electric lead guitar instructor . . . but that's another story! :-)
More like reignited his floundering career, sold 26 million copies world wide
At least for 1 album
actually been waiting for a clapton unplugged by you guys for so long hahah
watching these two play is complete bliss.
If ever I needed some inspiration to continue bashing away at my old Aria.
Guys, I would really fancy if you showed off some of your favourite riffs and licks. Even now I find myself pausing your videos and playing along! Love your series!
That outro jam was so bloody good. You guys inspire me so much :)
I remember when for the longest time that the most inexpensive (because we don't want to say "cheapest") entry point for a Martin was the 000-15 for $700-$800 US$. The "X" class was available via Martin's Sigma line for around $500. Unfortunately at the time, everyone treated those guitars like ugly step children. You didn't bring them out for anyone to see and ranked out the idea of actually owning one as the lowliest of acts one could be accused of. Later, after everyone was gone, you'd sit in the closet playing them. They would sound so lovely and you would feel so wretched for being ashamed of them. I know a guy that pawned his Sigma, but only after the pawn broker agreed to do the transaction in the alley where no one would see it. There are no bad guitars... just bad owners.
Great job. I really like hearing you guys play together.
Watching this video right before upgrading from the 000x1ae to the 000-28ec! I’m so excited
What do you think about your x1ae
This is great pure acoustic geekery well done guys
I bought a 000x in 2007. It’s still one of my Favorite guitars. “Plastic” or not, it just sounds immense.
Lol...Rofl... and sides bustin'! I just got home from a hard, stressful days work in sales here in the great state of Texas and watched 2 of your videos (this one and the one where Pete got his Flamingo shirt from Mick... "feels like Flamingo."... classic!)., and I'm giggling like a school girl on a sleepover. You 2 make a great duo .... talented, funny, and very entertaining. Thanks, guys! Andertton's and all the guys there (Cap'n, Rob, et al) are all class.
I need that flamingo shirt in my life.
Found it, it's the "Pink Flamingo" shirt from River Island.
+Erik Nyberg everyone who likes pete should buy one it would be like the mark of a true fan
Love the fact you went to the store to find the guitars. Should do this more often
do an electric Clapton sounds like! strats, 335s, and les pauls!
Screw electric, get back to basics!
I just got the 000-X2E, which is the updated version of the X-series in the video. I absolutely love it!
these two guys clearly prove that practice makes perfect. You don't need thousands of dollars to sound good, just bit of talent and practice.
Got my 000X1AE for Christmas and I couldn't be happier; money well spent!
mick your acoustic chops are outstanding. Great sound
We all know what a wonderful guitarist Pete is but Mick is definitely no mug!!
I've picked up a 000X1AE a week ago, and after almost 8 years of a low budget yamaha, I couldn't be more happy.
I love the string tension and how it sounds.
The only thing that could be a let down for some people is the lack of finish, it feels a bit cheap. But I'm fine with that.
I think it's one of the best "cheap" guitars out there.
The guitar exchange mid jam was cool!!
The HPL booms, because it is lighter. I think Martin put a lot of work in designing them, because they wanted to prove a lower priced Martin can blow out the competition and hang with the big boys. If I need a guitar that is loud without amplification, I pick up my old DM. It is a lot louder than my HD 28V and it isn't bothered by humidity. However, if I want something delicate sounding, the 28 is the way to go.
I have a couple of Martin guitars. A 00028 and a 00016rgte. I tried out the Clapton signature model back when they first appeared and wasn't that impressed. The laminate model here is going to sound better (as far as I'm concerned) because you don't need to 'play' in' a laminate guitar. They just sound.....Well, like they sound. My 28 took about 3 years before I decided it had opened up. I almost sold it a number of times because it didn't live up to my immediate expectations of a Martin. My 0016, however came from a moron who had abused it somewhat. we had to use a wet cloth and an iron to lift some of the damage from the sound board. And re-glue the rosewood at the battery compartment. But this thing sings. Even with a cutaway. It sounded from the outset, waay better than my 28. It's nearly 11 years old now and I wouldn't part with it. The moral here is Martins need to play in. I personally have only picked up one Martin guitar, brand new; and thought wow! That sounds great..... Yep......... it was one of the laminate ones under £600. Makes you think.......
This was such a great episode of Acoustic Paradiso...
Fantastic acoustic blues playing from Mick in that one. I might have to try and take those lines. I can hear that the EC is easier to play and sounds much for 3D and complex in this video. I know it sounds silly that I can "hear" that it is easier to play, but I think I can.
I like my coffee like Clapton. Without Cream.
Ohh shit that was clever
I like my coffee like Clapton likes his Strats: black.
+Robstafarian you tried
richie b I tried and failed?
That's a good one.
I LOVE the acoustic paradiso. So good.
Well all know Pete is great, no question.. and maybe it’s just because when I hear Mick it’s only a few riffs here and there on TPS shows but MAN he’s an awesome guitar player as well! Just great playing here.
They all sound lovely!
I used to have a D28. I now have a 00015m. I much prefer the 00015m. It is a brilliant instrument, especially for fingerpicking blues. Get one. You will not be disappointed.
Great comparison! Martin's guitars are insane beautiful. No comments!
I really liked the mahogany one! It has some kind of dark sound, what missed for other a little, in my opinion. And also it has a more vintage style, that is pretty good for me.
I have to work a lot in my life to get some guitars like those. I hope to get one some day! :-/
PS: The song from 26:06, it was amazing! Filled the place, and sounded so relaxing with great felling! Congrats both for that felling!
I'm definitely getting back into acoustic!
I bought the 00028ec in 2016
It still sounds much better than the alternatives
I later bought a Yamaha LL16 it’s a bigger body
Good value at under 1k US$
Thanks for posting ✌🏼🌈
For years I played the budget Martin in the Parlor size. I never really liked it. It was just a solid tool. I recently sold it and bought a Yamaha APX600. I liked the reduced size guitars. I can't believe how much the new Yamaha has inspired me. I can't wait to get my hands on it every day. It's simply a better guitar at a savings of about 40%. They're similar-sized but with the cut out on the Yamaha that allows playing higher on the neck. The Yamaha sounds better plugged in and similar acoustically. To each his own but if you're thinking about going for the cheap Martin, there are better choices out there. The cheap Martin does sound great in the vid, guys. I'm not paying 1000+ for a guitar.
If on budget, Check sigma guitars, the used to be sister company for martin and made really close copies of martins, like epiphone do of gibsons. Good price and premium feel for the same money as Martins cheapest guitars.
Same story as Epiphone I think. Did they own a premium European brand called Levin before Martin bough them out?
+Shaun Gangel Yes, Martin used to own swedish guitar brand Levin. Levin was a wonderful brand. I own two of these beauties myself and I would never want to sell them.
how would they compare to faith guitars? faith gets a lot of praise from these guys, i was thinking about picking one up
The difference is that Sigma is an independent company.
+Mattias Biro My uncle talks in sacred tones about his experience with one in the 70's.
Your shirt game is strong
Ricky Gervais also plays 00015 ermm. love the mahogany something about the look and feel
I LOVE THE ACOUSTIC VIDEOS. Thanks Guys
Really inspiring and one of the best videos for sure :D Keep it up (y)
For around £500, you'd be better off getting something like one of the lower end Eastman OM models. They are all solid wood, handmade guitars made using traditional luthier skills without machinery. Quite incredible for the money. The Martin 000x1 and other plastic guitars sound okay, but you can't beat all solid wood. It will age and open up much better than a guitar with just a solid soundboard and nothing else. The top end Martins are still very nice though....
The X series Martin's are Heavey and I don't like the way they feel,
I've always loved the sound of a Martin but never liked the feel of their necks. I'm going to have to check out that 000x1e since you say the neck is not as fat and narrower at the body. Thanks for the great comparison and some killer jamz, too!
Nice little touch of Prince there at the end...
Great playing guys. I’d love the EC signature but way past my budget. I play an Eastman OM model which is very close to the Martin 00028 in looks and sounds great for about a third of the price, but if I had the money I’d go for the EC. Not keen on either of the other 2. The 00015 is overpriced for what it is. The X model would be a good gigging guitar. I gig a Yamaha because I don’t mind if it gets a knock. So many good guitars out there now. Furch, Eastman, Collings etc.
Very entertaining video, cheers guys.
I think all about the bass should do a similar thing!
And yes I agree, the OM 28V is "THE" Martin guitar, although I also have the Clapton. I don't feel any difference in string tension.
Jeff, I want to buy one of this, OM 28 or OOO28EC. Which one would you recommend?. I play blues and would love to learn fingerpicking. Thanks for your advise.
@@juanjoserestrepocalle7770
The OM has more punch and projection butit's a little harder to play. The Clapton is more focused on th fundamental notes and brings less overtones. Both are great for blues.
went to music store last week. saw martin 000-EC, and got fever for a few days... LoL.. thats a lot of money... sold on 000xae
early 90s was when a lot of singer songwriters realized they could make their own CDs at home or in small studios and make 1000 CDs- most of those people played acoustic guitars and wanted something nice to play.. Many saw other songwriters making waves.. not just people like Clapton, or Cobain, but indy people like - Ani DeFranco, The Indigo Girls, Sarah McLachlan, Shawn Colvin and many other Lilith Fair alumni who were talented acoustic artists. John Mayer and Dave Mathews also were of merit as inspirational to many regular people who then went out and bought high end guitars.
I do like all 3, But I think I do like the fuller sound.
Also, I do think certain guitars you play in a certain mind.
For instain I find the 000X1 as a all around as for the 28 I find I play more blue type .
They both sound great. 4x's the price? I'll take the hpl.
Great stuff guys. Excellent!
The 000 size is definitely amazing all around workhorse. I just got myself a 000RS1 and just can't put it down... The dishes are piling up high...
I prefer the cheap one actually. Nice playing gents.
The 000-15M also has a Dovetail neck joint.
Just get the Sigma 000r-28v
I have a DR28. Honestly it feels and plays like a Martin...even smells the same
I like my Recording King OM 27, beautiful guitar with solid wood top, back and sides
Trust me. There is a huge difference between a Sigma and a Martin. I own a Martin 000-28EC and I once tried a Sigma 000-28. The Sigma looks quiet similar, but compared to a Martin it sounds like a cigar-box. It is a great guitar for the price, but you really cant compare it to a high end Martin guitar.
The only thing bothering me about „budget“ Martin guitars is the „e“. Pretty much all of them are electrified and there is not an option to opt out of that. 🙁
BTW. You guys are the bomb! Thanks for your content, always inspiring and entertaining to watch! 🙂
On the other hand, if you don't mind not having the Martin name on the headstock, try a Sigma. They do lots of 000 models.
Love that shirt Pete
Is it just me or has there not been an actual video tour of the shop?
I have a dx-1 and absolutely love. As one of my friends says it's a boomer.
This is a 4 year old video... but I been catching your shows in my searches!! But I own an FG5 and have a martin 000-18 ordered from my local music store!! I was wonder how you think the 2 guitars will pair together?.. I feel the 000-18 will blend nicely with the FG5!!
There is an unreasonable quantity of "yep"s in this video
yep, agreed
yep!
mhmm
🤣🤣 yep 👍🏻
Great, great review! Thanks!
Do Martin guitars hold their value ? Does this depend on the model ? This might be a factor for some people buying. Also i guess that some guitars may sound better with age and those that are better constructed with more expensive woods may be a better long term investment.
Hey Lee, how often do you hang out around the store? or are you a big fish , sitting in your badass office? would be cool to meet you !
My office is above the store so I'm in & out of the store all the time!
What is the exact model number of 'the most affordable' one? Hard to tell from the link provided...
Link has been updated!
that all mahogany one is amazing. Best sounding of the bunch. You shoudl compare that one to the all sapele one.
So, now it would be interesting to hear the difference between the Martin 000-28EC, the Martin 000-16E (if you can get your hands on one)and the Martin 000-13E. I would really just like to hear the difference in the 000-28EC and the 000-16E, since the 000-16E seems to be a poor man's 000-28EC.
Gran video saludos desde Perú...grandes Martins
i like the sound of the 000x1ae more than the ec sig. brighter and clearer.
"Budget"
For a Martin it is! ;)
There's nothing "budget" about Martin.
The 000x1e looks a lovely guitar but £649 with 'laminated' back and sides! Youd have to be mad to buy it with so much choice of all solid wood guitars at that price point.
Strange how when people talk about cheap guitars they use the word plywood but when its a Martin its called a laminate ;)
the laminate on the x series isnt traditional plywood its more like a composite
So plywood with a flash name, you cant kid a kidder ;)
andy fairweather low was great on clapton's accoustic shows' long way from Amen Corner !
Excellent guys, well done, I particularly like the swap mid song. I think the cheaper guitar sounds better, just my 2 cents.
Nice jammin'
great players
this is the best episode
Wow THIS was a good a episode
Make a 12 string guitar review. Like a 12 string vs 6 string.
Pete, please do the review of EPIPHONE CASINO. It is iconic guitar for many guitarist. PLEASE PLEASE DO IT!
To "get into" martin guitars, I got thedreadnought junior, all solid wood!
I had a D28'in the 1970's! I heard they are sucked then. I bought a 2017'D28 and I love it just as much if no more.
cheapest is the best of the bunch, imo. nearly hurts to admit it when you look at the price tags.
It is for sure the loudest and most brilliant and upfront, that might lead you to the conclusion that it's the best. And the expensive guitar will get better with age for sure. Whether that is worth the money is a subjective decision.
I bought the regular 000x1 in 2008, put an LR Baggs active element in it and I’ve been playing it out for 10 years now and I’ve gotten players using J-200s, D-28s etc...how I get my tiny Martin to sound that good? To be honest I don’t know but it sounds big yet bright unplugged and just knocks you away plugged in direct...best 800ish (total w/ labor) I’ve ever spent!
Pete is a monster! is there anything he cant play?!! Pete, please adopt me!
Mick and Pete. Name a more iconic duo.
On this recording my favourite was the 00015m, but then I am partial to mahogany...
can anyone point me to some youtube videos where you can learn how to play acoustic like these guys? I only really play electric and if I play acoustic it's just chords, I love that Clapton style acoustic sound though.
Please do this with John Mayer's 'Where The Light Is' acoustic set!
I suspect that the 000x1 has 80-20 bronze strings to sound that loud.
Nice acoustic room!!
