Funnily enough i love luvdisc more than alolamola as luvdisc came first, also its pokedex entry of a couple being together forever if they see one together is hella adorable and i'm suprised the anime hasn't used it more in episodes. (Imagine Brock meeting a woman and a luvdic casually passes by).
To be fair to the cow becoming a bull or the kiwi becoming an ostrich crowd- that's actually incredibly common for Pokemon to take inspiration from different animals in their evolutions. Like Rookidee's clearly based off of a tit, while its evolutions are moreso based on corvids.
I personally like both and like to think they’re at least cousins. You can’t really blame people for wanting or thinking it to evolve into Alomomola when Remoraid evolves into Octillery.
I've always appreciated Luvdisc throughout the years. It's a perfect example of how not every Pokemon is great in battle, since some Pokemon are primarily made for world building, like Unown for example. Also, the thing about Gen 5 and Pokemon like Alomomola is the fact that Gen 5 was meant to be a soft reboot for the franchise, and they wanted to make New Pokemon that were homages to Old Pokemon. Plus, with Luvdisc being based on the Butterfly Fish, and Alomomola being based on the Ocean Sun Fish, it would make sense that they aren't connected in the same line. Plus, it's not like we haven't had similar looking Pokemon before, see Butterfree and Venonat for example. So I appreciate someone coming out and making a video appreciating this Pokemon. Especially since I also enjoy the fact that it can bring couples together, which is a Pokedex entry in my opinion. So yeah, thanks for this Gator! 👏🏻
I feel like a perfect evolution design would be giving it a theme of a pair. Plenty of pokemon evolve into having more of them and it would make perfect sense that the LOVE pokemon finds itself a partner
Okay, I honestly think that the real issue with the lovedisc/alolamola relationship is that alolamola does everything lovedisc does but better, so it makes no sense for it to not be an evolution. What would be really cool, would be to introduce regional forms for both loved disc and alola mall that do evolve from each other, and imply that they did evolve at one point, but for whatever reason they split up.

I feel like as long as there's a theme (like the aforementioned Remoraid and Octillery having the theme of blasting weapons) then it's probably anything goes and I don't think it's too farfetched to link love and healing.
If I were to give Luvdisc an evolution it would be something that makes him look like an arrow (I know weird) but it would compliment the new cupid Pokémon from that region 😂
I think a Luvdisc evolution is on the way. A lot of Gen 2 Pokemon have been getting evolutions and forms now that Gen 1 has been very fleshed out. Gen 3 is next
I created a water/ghost type evo for Luvdisc called Tragedisc and it's based on Greek tragedies and broken hearts along with heart monitors. It evolves by winning a battle while being the only mon in the party.
Does Luvdisc have priority moves, though? The only way I can see that happening is if you go to a really weak early route area or use it to finish off an already weakened enemy. Cool concept, though.

A Water/Ghost Type with Multiscale as its regular ability, and Hydration still as its Hidden Ability. The Pokedex entries describe how it is born of a Luvdisc that has never known affection, and lives isolated from its kind. It longs for companionship and its weeping voice enchants humans and Pokemon alike...but its kiss unintentionally consumes the soul of those afflicted. It weeps for its lost loves, and in many mythos it's believed that its tears are why the sea is salty.
Luvdisc I mainly used it just to get Heart Scales to the Luvdisc Fans hope y'all forgive me. Overall its design is based on a heart which is a good Pokemon to catch on Valentine's Day!
Dunsparce got an evolution. Delibird got another form that's actually good. It's time for other pitiful pokemon like luvdisc and spina to get a form or evolution that makes them good.

I actually really love luvdisc and could not believe the hate people had for it when I first learned of that I like the cute design and seeing them in that episode of the anime made me think they were just as strong as any mon, so I didn't understand the commentary about them being weak (this was before I got into stats) Almost forgot that Juan in the anime used one too and it was shown to be a tough opponent for Ash, managing to incapacitate grovyle with a single hit from Sweet Kiss and using the rain to boost its speed signficantly! I'll admit that they aren't anything special in battle, but I still love the design and find the lore interesting, and I feel that if they got better stats - either offensively or defensively - and the right set of moves I feel they'd have some good potential Luvdisc has a high speed stat boosted by its ability Swift Swim, so if it had a higher special attack stat and some decent moves, at least through tm, it could be as formidable as it was shown in the series, or at the very least be more than the joke most people see it as I agree with it not needing an evolution, but the addition of fairy-type could at least make it more interesting and offer a little extra something for it to use
It's funny that you made fun of the complaints that Luvdisc should have evolved into Alomomola when we have a fish turn into an octopus, a bunch of eggs turning into a psionic palm tree, or even a clam evolving into an eel/oarfish thing. Imo, anything is on the table when it comes to pokemon.
I think an evo where it's just a couple could be cool...similar to how maushold just having more 🤔...it could have a water fairy typing with 120 extra stats with a special lean. 💕💞

I actually like Luvdisc for a reason and it’s not because it was my first shiny ever since Pokemon X because I just think it’s cute in general and has a special place in my heart due to it being the shiny I actually saw first before knowing that shiny Pokemon existed.
you maybe instead evolving luvdisc it should get a special form where in a double battle where if you have 2 luvdisc and pull them out at the same time both will combine together and start flapping and both will get the the flying type in this special form.

You're so real for this One of the best aspects of Pokemon is the sheer variety of critters you can encounter. Sure, we all love the badass dragons and the conventionally cute small mammals but sometimes we just need a little heart shaped buddy and an icicle disguising itself as an ice cream to spice things up a bit. I adore the weird and simple mons so much That and oh my god, someone actually addressed the "why is this not a canon evolution???" question. Bulls and buffalo ain't the same thing
i have an idea on how they can pas it off as a luvdisc evolution in bw without reveling that luvdisc is it's baby for, make it so in bw"s story, no one ever says anything about luvdisc being a pre Evo and no one says anything about luvdisc being in the same evolution line and in the post game, you get an item that when the not luvdisc evolution holds it when breeding, you get baby luvdisc and have luvdisc be a happiness evolution
