    The only reason nobody is talking about him is because he is on San Antonio. If he was on the Lakers or Knicks he would be talked about all the time. That 2014 Spurs team was one of the best teams of all time, but the media only talked about them for a day after they won, when Lebron and the Heat won in 2013 they were talked about all summer long.

    Keldon’s shooting and off ball presence improved so much this season. His skillset was much more limited the year prior. (He was still a talented young guy, but just predictable)
    It’s crazy because despite that I think his driving and ball handling took another leap too. He has some really clean plays against good players in this clip. It’s a joy to watch.

    I get the same feeling from Keldon this off-season that I got from DG last summer. Last year was Keldon’s “hey, this guy looks pretty good” year like how 2020-21 was garlands, and even tho I don’t think keldon will take the all star leap, next season he Will definitely be in all star contention averaging 22/9/3

    I am pretty damn impressed with this kid. You can see why popovich kept him. If I was doing a rebuild and had a kid with that body and those creative moves well that's just a bucket getter and you can't have enough bucket getters. He plays like a veteran that's pretty amazing for second year guy. It's too bad that he had a teammate who finished second in the most improved player but like I said in an earlier comment the grizzlies had three of the top seven most important player candidates. I think the grizzlies versus the Warriors is going to be a thing for several years to come. I'm a Warriors fan but that grizzlies team is going to be tough as hell

    I'm not watching many games in full, but I check the highlights and boxscores almost every day. Since about 30 years actually. Keldon shines in the boxscores, relatively to his perceived status, but looks undersized and not that athletic. Many times I was wondering how is he getting that excellent counting stats, particularly as the main offensive option. This video answered all my questions. Many thanks!

    So I was talking about how keldon Johnson was a long shot and the race for most improved player next year. The first thing that I read had him is the 12th highest rated basketball player to receive odds for that reward. For those of you who might be curious here's a list of some of the front runners in order. Number one is a tie right now between Jalen Brunson / Anthony Edwards 3.R.J. Barrett 4. Okongwu 5.Jalen Green 6. LaMelo Ball 7. Cade Cunningham 8. Halliburton 8.SGA 9. Anfernee Simon's. That's the top 10 as it stands now. I can't remember who 11 is but after that it's Sheldon. That's a whole lot of people to try to jump. I think I got my money on halliburton. We'll see.

    Since the past few seasons he's been used more as a PF I always compared to Charles Barkley: both undersized 4s who could muscle their way in, shoot from three, rebound, and be all around good or great players. Not saying KJ will end up being a super star like Barkley but certainly he has the tools and enthusiasm to get very far.
    Also this year will be different with him being the go-to guy, not to mention likely moving to the 3 position like he was playing more at the end of the last season.
    Devin Vassell is the one that needs a huge jump this year.

    This video got me interested in last year's most improved player award. I was looking at the 2021-2022 voting and this is the most approved player but we're Ja Morant won. Keldon didn't really stand a chance with Murray being the second place vote getter and playing on the same team. The weird thing is and I'm not sure if this has ever happened before but out of the seven or eight guys that were nominated for the award three of them played from Memphis. Bane, Morant, Jackson all got a good amount of votes with Ja obviously finishing number one. That's pretty crazy that three guys from the same team would all be in the running for most improved player. Or the MIP as I like to call it. Vegas is put out the odds for next year and Anthony Edwards is ranked number one to win the award but keldon is ranked 12. Not bad.

    • @bookaufman9643
      @bookaufman9643 2 роки тому

      @@toogud7918 no I don't see that happening either. Vegas doesn't see it either which is why he's ranked 12. It was kind of interesting they put him in three different categories with the first second and third group. Kelvin was one of the first guys in the second group but there were 11 people in front of him with better odds. I can't remember all of them hell I can't remember any of them except for Anthony Edwards being number one. It seems like everybody is already anointed Anthony Edwards is the best player of the future. The guy who's going to be the best out of the young players in three or four years but I'll bet your money it won't be him. I'm just going on odds here and I've seen his game and there's a lot to it and I think he's going to become a second team NBA All-Star kind of guy but somebody that nobody's thinking about is going to become a first team NBA All-Star kind of guy. Now if I knew who that was I could be a GM. Actually if I knew who that was I'd be way too qualified to be a GM.

    • @AlexHoops
      @AlexHoops  2 роки тому

      Couple of things to point out:
      1. Saying somebody has star potential is not me saying they’re certain to make an All Star team in their career
      2. Young players take time to develop, some longer than others. 10 years from now, the number of players drafted in the last 5 years that will end up making an All Star team at some point is likely pretty high if you just looked at past history for reference.
      I am not calling all of these players locks, rather saying that, under the right conditions and with proper development, then they *could* end up becoming All Stars.
      Which, to me, is a fairly reasonable ideology.
      Edit: Also, just looking back on this past season’s videos, I’ve called less than 20 young players potential All Stars, and there’s probably less than 10 of those that some people might consider “hot takes”. Don’t know where you got 75 from hahaha.

    I remember him as one of the guys I wanted Magic to pick... Instead we picked Chuma had to wait for him whole year before he was able to play, and from promised 3 and D guy he is just a D guy.

    He’s literally the only prospect the spurs’ have that gets talked about.. literally any time I hear spurs I hear about Johnson and his chances of being a great player. I dont think thats exactly underrated.. maybe under hyped? Id still rather have Seddiq Bey over him and people say hes a 3 and D role player 🧐we all know thats cap

    Keldon is underrated and is better than players like RJ Barette and colin sexton...
