- This is the swing arm bearing replacement on a 1988 Honda FourTrax 300. This would be the same procedure for all models of the 300 fourtrax's. #ad

Thank you Sir, you make the job look easy...............not quite but eventually got it after allot of swearing
Awesome video. Thanks for the breakdown and what tools are needed.
Thanks for watching
How much to fix me fourtrax I don’t know what I broke but it happens as I was shifting I herd a loud pop and my quad just started limping real bad #help please !!! And it’s 4 wheel drive 4x4 are u close to Alabama ?
Good video, well explained. I like to clean up opening with sandpaper and oil opening before installing new one.
I've watched a couple of your swingarm videos and was a bit intimidated removing one yesterday. But it was super easy!
Yes they are pretty easy to get off. Getting the bearings out can be a little tougher
I have a 98 XE 300 how much would you charge to rebuild the engine
@@FourwheelerDoctorI have the hex bolts back in. Tightened the left side and am trying to Tighten the right side evenly, there's still an 1/8th gap between the arm and frame. Any tips on evening it out to be flush on both sides? I don't have a lock nut tool and I didn't replace the bearings or anything. Just switched out a junkyard rear-end for the original because seals went bad in the differential
Helpful video thanks. Welding a bead in the race is the one alright
That's a great video thanks a lot !!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching
Mine went bad and shifted the swing arm and broke the swing arm . Had to use a ratchet strap to hold it in its pivot to get out of the woods
Nice video made me a subscriber
Thanks and thanks for watching
Good one!
Your videos are very informative and detailed, which I truly appreciate! Thanks!!! ....but if a person doesn't have access to a welder, what would be the best alternative to pulling that bearing???
That's tough. I've always been curious how Honda says to replace these and it seems like one time I looked in the manual to see and there's not clear directions on how to do it. If you do not have a welder the only other option would be to cut it out with a small cutting wheel like one of the heavy duty wheels on a drimmel. It may be pretty time consuming since these races are hardened. But it will work and I have done it before.
@@FourwheelerDoctor: Thanks for the helpful tip!!!!
I can't get the swingarm pulled tight
My bigbear the threads were backwards, are the TRX300 threads normal? Got a little loose, maybe I just need to tighten a little
So as far as the locking collar goes, can you not just leave the collar on the pin while you have that side out, then re tighten both the pin and the collar at the same time? That way you don’t need that special tool?
You could do that if you're using the same bearings but if you replace the swingarm bearings there's a chance that they may be different thicknesses or the races sit different than the original ones did which would require you to move the locking collar.
You need to set the preload on the pin before you torque the lock nut. If you were to tighten the pin with the lock nut in the same position you wouldn’t be able to guarantee the pin was set to the correct torque.
@@jamesbowes6979 that's what I was trying to say but your explanation sounds better. Lol
@@jamesbowes6979 so the preload is the 5-7 ft lbs?
Would a impact b better breaking those hex bolts
In my experience they are tighter than my impact would get off. Especially the left side bolt.
Does the swingarm is the same as a 1986 trx250 fourtrax because i need to take mine apart and can't found any video of it..
I use sites like partzilla to view diagrams and compare part numbers
Is this the same than a 1986 Honda fourtrax 350
I'm pretty sure those are different. I can't say I've ever pulled the swing arm off of one but considering the way the front suspension is on it, I would guess the rear is different than this 300 fourtrax.
How much for the bearings I have the same model as that
They are around $25 on ebay
Just bought the All Balls kind. Hearing good reviews on them. And they fit nicely
I can't get the 17mm Allan head to break loose do I have to do something else before that?
Pb blaster...
Put some Mustard on it Strong arm it.
If you have a pipe or I take off my jack handle and use it as leverage over the ratchet. My 2-ft breaker bar would not crack these loose but with the jack handle on there it did.
What kind of bearing puller do u have thanks
It's called a blind bearing puller with a slide hammer.
i bet you already had that fancy tool when you would make me get my hands nasty :D
Hand packed bearings sounds better to the customer
I don't weld.....

Great way of getting both race out with no welding 👌🏻
I would've took air blower and blowed all that gunk out and dust n dirt out....
Hey
Whats going on. Thanks for watching
Literally just took my factory 1995 bearings out with a Dremal and some elbow grease😅 idk why damn near every video on these bearings have a welder involved😂 it’s not that complicated.
How did you remove the race on the other side ? I can’t remove mine
I did the same process to both of the races out.
