The album that changed my life. I have listened to this on repeat more than any album by far. Some deride the production...too muddy. It's perfect! I have seen High on Fire play live many times, and I am telling you this fuzzy production is as close to the real thing as you can get. Sadly Des left the band...a legendary drummer and dearly missed. I adore the entire High on Fire catalog, but this is the band at their stoner/doom peak. A 21st century metal masterpiece.
Billy Anderson is the sound engineer, and he has a reputation for having muddy sounding recordings. I love him anyway. He did Brutal Truth's Sounds of the Animal Kingdom also. I saw HoF twice, once for Black Wings and again for Communion, and the sound was clearer than this, this sounds like they are playing a room or two away, but I love that kind of muffled sound. Their was a guy named Wharton Tiers who recorded Dinosaur Jr back in 1985, and many of those kind of weird underground bands of the 80s (Das Damen and a White Zombie LP on Caroline records called Soul Crusher which is one of my favorites.) Wharton and Billy are spiritual kin.
Call me sentimental, but muddy makes you wanna push it hard in terms of sheer loudness. I turn to eleven, thousands of blind robotic rams are headbutting me and dopamine skyrockets. I therefore quote you, a 21st century metal masterpiece. Fuck.
This is seriously my all time favorit album. "Razor hoof" and "Hung drawn and quartered" are the best songs, but there's not a bad track on here really. I've probably spent more time on this album then on any other album on this entire planet of earth. No exaggeration.
@Azhag Dark I'm not a conservative, I'm a very liberally minded person, but I respect the right of everyone to their own opinion. And I seem to remember that they didn't always share the same political views, but they still got on well enough to play some damn fine metal.
HoF discography is flawless but this is still my favorite album That sludgy speedy crushing stoner doom only this band can make at it's finest Des your work is eternal, thank you
I go back and forth between Snakes and Death ITC...Like you said discog is flawless...I also love Pike versus the Automaton...Funny I'm not the biggest Sleep fan,but HOF and Corrosion Of Conformity and Obituary are the best out lately 🤘🤘🤘

this is - in my opinion - the best metal album ever recorded. you can sing along to every riff, the lyrics are awesome and the way they move together is fukkin sikk
Thank you for uploading an entire album in HQ. I can't tell you how easy it is to share this with friends and have them enjoy this album with me. I will continue to buy and share so others will buy.
I distinctly remember the first time I heard it. I was stunned that there was a drummer that could play that hard and intense having heard more hard rock previously.
Ocean Sage First time I heard it was in Tony Hawk's Underground when I was like 11 or 12. I remember it pissing my parents off, which made me like it more. But I just loved the energy of the drumming and the riff.
I'll never know what song that got me hooked but im sure it was from this album on a metal show on a rock station that i heard this amazing thunder coming through. i was moving furniture, a mattress up some stairs, i said brb, one sec and waited for the song to finish...."That was high on fire...blah blah..." okay got it. Never looked back.
This smokes, it far better than a band called high on fire with the songs titles like eyes and teeth, speedwolf, and nemesis should be. Despite all of that it kicks ass with a sabbath style heaviness combined with the speed and delivery of the late great lemmy. It's pretty amazing and I recommend it to anyone with ears.
Three bands on the Relapse roster I can name that have an absolutely FLAWLESS catalog: Dillinger, Neurosis, and High on Fire. They just never made bad music.
Riding out to conquer all humanity Yes this is a great album the one before this one I feel was the best but You cannot count out the 3rd because of joe Preston that could be the best after that one I’m not interested
I think I've found the riff filled land that was talked about in dopesmoker.
You followed the smoke ? That's awesome, dude
I followed lol
lol indeed. i heard he dropped the bong tho
@@zdengvox He followed the great dust stomp of Mammoth treks, Dopesmoke, wolf grind and found the river valley of rifftastic HOF promised land.

Yeah it's a real shame about Des stepping down from HoF, but I get it, he's got a family he never sees, being on the road as much as he is.

Easy top 5 in the entire Relapse catalog.

I dont know why but the song "The Yeti" goes really well as background music when watching videos about Orangutans.
lol
You are a man of culture, I see.
😂👍
Great guitar sound...that´s how Metal should sound like
The guitar sound paired up with unforgettable riffs makes this whole album perfect
Pike is the most impressive guitarist I have ever seen live. You just stare in awe
I agree, Matt is one of the most powerful live musicians ever
yep seen him twice with HoF and Sleep
Love this album. One of my favourite metal records
hung drawn and quartered, that drum intro sounds like an old harley warming up...fucking yes
this album is a real warbattle mastership!
My favorite by HoF ! The Yeti, Thraft of Canaan, Surrounded by Thieves, Razor Hoof... A fucking malestrom of Stoner Doom Riffs !
Best HOF album, hands down.
Like this older stuff better than newer stuff. It has more variations and still just as heavy!
The Yeti has the sickest riff!!!!
The time of yeti will rise, because our ways have been wise
Not Yet-i...
It's Pike's riffage magnum opus, so fun to cover on guitar!

Fav album of HoF
Some bands have IT, some don't. ....HOF definitely have IT
Fantastic listen, from start to finish!
sounds like im climbing a volcano, so sick
I love how the closing drums of Razor Hoof are also the opening drums on Deviloution, from their next album Blessed Back Wings
This takes me back to my mid twenties: copious amounts of dope and countless hours in my jeep.
This album is brutal!! 💪😊
I need to purchase this
Like a bomb blasting in my ears. I LOVE IT.

Razor Hoof riff is just pure Iron man
whatta brutal fukkin albbum!!
First of all when does the new CD come out and what else is he remastering
the yeti is one of the heaviest most fucking sadistic High on Fire songs
Every time I hear this I shit myself a little then I giggle uncontrollably.
Why is "Hung, Drawn and Quartered" considered the best song on this album? Imo, the title track is by far the best song.
It's because it was on headbangers ball yo
