According to thr manual (which can be doenloaded online) The flexible hose coupler should be right off the engine not the heatshield, also you have contact with the hot radiator hose.
This is not a true cold air intake ... because all it does is suck in heat from the engine ... roto fab is just the same as the stock ... i did a stainless steel tube heat wrap on mine and kept the airbox with a kn filter

I got the same intake be careful of the hose clamps are cheap you have to tighten them really tight or it comes off mine came off a few times already

This filter is smaller than the original filter, you are destroying the engine.
Even it will suck the hot air from the engine’s bay.
