Just installed my Roto Fab! Your video helped out a lot, one thing that puzzled me was which couple to use cause I was looking at the one that connected directly to the throttle body haha
About time Armin.. Welcome to the life of aftermarket... no emission's standard BS!
Haha! Yeah it’s a slippery slope.
Nice job Armin. Thanks for posting the install video. Really enjoyed it. :)
No problem 👍🏼
Wow, I think I can hear the difference ! Way cool
MojaveKY love it!
Due to the "quietness" of most cabins you cannot hear the roar of the engine through standard camera equipment. I could hear this straight away, as it did sound like a definite roar. When you opened up the throttle on an open road, you can hear it even better. It must have sounded great in the cabin - the look on your face says it all! I'm trying to look for this Roto-Fab thing in Australia...
True! I look forward to getting it tuned soon.
Give us an update on the tune-up thing. What does it involve? Anyway, we will all find out I suppose.
Installing on the 17ss friday. Thx Red, keep em coming.
Thanks for answering my questions! Now I see the purpose and value of this upgrade.
Hi Armin. Finally got my "16 Red SS just like yours!! So happy. All stock. Just put a set of Continentals. Planning on putting a Rotofab CAI. Let me ask you, I still have stock intake. With partial throttle I could hear that "blowing "sound initially before the engine rumble. It that intake noise? You could hear it even with the stock airbox? Thanks in advance.
Congrats! There’s a stock sound enhancer, basically a tube from the intake elbow to the firewall behind the cabin. So that might be what you’re hearing.
Hey mate, here in australia we all run over the radiator intakes, there alot better then running a side airbox, you get a ram air effect at speed. Increases of roughly 30 to 40 rwkw from an airbox.
Those are good gains! I know some SS owners here prefer OTR intakes as well.
Red SS yeH i run the Harrop OTR on mine. Check out there youtube channel, type in harrop VF SS, good content on there.
how much power you making and with what mods??
The ? Tube? Couldn’t understand what you called that, and what does it do, and are you sure we don’t need it?
The stock breather tube. It was replaced with the breather hose due to the design of the inlet elbow.
Maf or mafless tune? Great video, great car, thank you.
The tune I am getting doesn’t require to go MAFless, so MAF all the way. Thanks for watching the video!
How will you go with your warranty won’t it be voided now?
I don’t think the intake itself will void. If I were to have some kind of problem later, and GM determines it is due to the intake, then the warranty could be an issue. It’s highly unlikely though. Now if I were to get it tuned, that’s a different story 😎
🙏🏽
Next step kooks long tubes and cam
Down the rabbit hole I go lol.
@@RedSS where did you get your rotofab? I looked on there website but it says they dont ship to California? Maybe I read it wrong correct me if I'm wrong
Mark ssonly.com/product/roto-fab-intake-system-16/. It says the same thing about California. Looks like an emissions related restriction www.reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/3glbyh/eli5_why_are_cold_air_intakes_illegal_in/
Are otr intakes not popular in us or something?
They are popular, if I were to guess it is maybe 50/50.
Hi where can I buy the catch can. I am in Australia . Thanks
revhead408 hey thanks for asking. Elite Engineering USA, link in the description.

What is it « catching » and why do we need it?
It’s collecting the blow-by vapors from the oil that are otherwise burned off inside the intake and engine. This can leave some residue in the intake and the throttle body. If you noticed the amount of oil it collected after about 500 miles, that’s some of what would’ve been left inside the intake while the rest burned off. I don’t think it’s absolutely necessary, cars have been fine without them forever, but I wanted to take the extra step to keep my new intake cleaner.
@RedSS at how many miles did you install catch can? I just got a 2014 ss with 34k miles and was wondering if it’s too late to install one.
Which filter dry or oil?
Oil
I bet this cai is expensive as hell
