hey so i would like to start recording my trumpet playing using a shure 98/h sax mic and was wondering if that would work with a gopro hero9/10/11 black and a media mod using a 3.5mm to xlr adapter to connect it.
I think yes. I've used an xlr mic with the 3.5mm cable connected to the gopro and it worked. I believe the camera will have different external microphone settings for gain which you will need to test record and see which is best.
hey thanks for the video! just to clarify, if i'm connecting a condenser mic into the xlr->3.5mm adapter, and that into the gopro mic adapter, does the gopro MA provide phantom power? normally i plug my mic into an audio interface (m-audio profire 610), and i'm curious if i could just plug a 3.5mm cable into the headphone jack and run that thru the gopro mic adapter. much appreciated!!
The gopro mic adapter provides a small amount of amplification that works for some mics. You may still need the audio interface. If you are on the go then I'd use a compact shotgun mic instead.
I have Maono Au Am 100 audio interface, I have my shure microphone plug into the audio interface using the XLR cable. When connecting to phone, everything works perfectly, but when I connect to my gopro gero 11 black using 3.5mm cable, I am having an issue, where no sound was going into the gopro, if you happen to have a tutorial on this matter, can you kindly help me. BTW the microphone is using the phantom power, I am using klerktecnin audio booster.
@@PrestonKallshian Hi preston, thanks for the reply, I forgot to mention when connecting the 3.5mm cable, I am using it wirh gopro adapter, but when I using normal microphone such as lavalier or wireless, everything works fine, the only issue is when I am trying to use it with my audio interface, nothing happen, I have try so many things, switching the setting of mic mod in gopro, using different types of cable to connect to my gopro. My main concern is that I thing it is only works with audio mixer, maybe no with audio interface, if you to happen have an audio interface, maybe you can share to me the setup process. Thanks again.
I don't have one but it looks like you would take a regular aux cord from the interface output and plug into the mic adapter. The aux cord used for this may be different than the one for your phone. The phone one would have three rings on one end. Use a regular TRS aux cord and double check all output levels
@@kamalrusli3432 My mixer is basically an audio interface. It is all I have. I assume you have tried every output in the interface. Try every output with the knobs all turned all the way up.
Hello Its Dawid from Poland. I just bought whole podcast set-up with sontronics xlr podcast pro dynamic microphone 2x and 2 x GoPro 8 hero Black with 2 x GoPro mic adapter. To manage all and connect i have zoom livetrak L- 8 audio interface. I did first connection sample and i dont know how to connect GoPro's to zoom livetrak. I have connected cameras with GoPro mic adapter and that to livetrak with mini Jack3,5mm cable from adapter to livetrak 6,3mm Jack. I dont know how to make that interface will transfer voice from xlr mic to GoPro do i can make video together with dynamic mic sound. Please help ! All the best
Okay, here is what I think will work. The XLR microphone will plug into the livetrack mixer in channel 1 XLR input with phantom power on. The output from the mixer will go into the cameras by taking one of the 1/4" outputs (monitor out) and sending that signal to one or both cameras. i would use a stereo 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter and a two way 3.5mm headphone splitter to do this and then send the signal into the gopro mic adapter. That is what I am doing in this video with one gopro.

confusing.. How about a video that shows exactly the connectors on each end.. of the cable.. define the ends of the cables.. and show exactly how you would hook this up..

So from my mixer using two condenser mics I would go from 1/4 male line out to the 3.5 mm mic adapter to the GoPro?
Correct 💯
Experiment with which output from the mixer and the gopro mic settings

I believe you need a media mod or mic adapter with the gopro. I use a mic adapter on my hero 7
