This is a cracking song that I have not heard for years. I do remember it was massive over here in the UK at the time. I loved it then, and I still love it now.
My boyfriend and i(both 31 years old) just heard it on the radio...and we started singing at the same time haha....for about 4 minutes back to childhood :D Love the 80's
I have just found this since the 80s - Couldn't remember the lyrics at all, just the melody. I have spent a lot of time and worked my way through every top40 hit from 1980 to get here, at one point I actually thought the song didnt exsist and it was my young mind playing tricks on me.Thanks! :-)
It took me about 6 years to find this song :D As a child I had it on some CD with different pop and rock songs from 80s and 90s. And I only remembered that "yodeling part" with USA at the end.
@@Lark1610 I forgot I wrote this comment all those years ago! I am really glad to see it is not just me that has been haunted by it. When I heard the first part, I thought "ok, thats it,but the other bit i remember...that has to be a different song" but no! it transitioned into the next bit. Seems like we all came here and found inner peace lol
@@davidconnelly1793 I didn't see this comment until now. Amazing how it seems to have happened to so many people. Also amazing how it suddenly stopped getting airplay. I remember as a child it was always on the radio, then it just stopped. I think it charted quite high in the UK chart (number 10 I think) which usually means they get played for years afterwards.
Same! 30+ yrs for me. Knew part of the tune and the lyrics "....in America...." - guess how many songs that Google search pulled up! Finally heard it on Absolute 80s and shazammed it. Finally closure! Something about the melody and our subconscious me thinks!
Take a moment to to think of all the people who currently have this tune in their head from decades ago and have no idea what it is. Hopefully they find it here one day.
Beautiful lyrics and song ....always remember this ...when getting ready for school in the 80s ...eating my weetabix. ...oooow those where the days ! ! !
It was d autumn of 1986,i remember it like it was yesterday, I was 14 now 50,cant believe dis song is nearly 36 years old, god bless yous red box, thank you 4 being there in d 80s wen I was growing up x 😊😊
this song seems to be really popular in poland, i heard it in poland as a kid and it really stuck with me, seen a lot of polish people searching for it too
i loved this song forgotten big hit in eighties i was about 13 bunking off school to go to shop with arcade games the radio was always on billy's the shop across from whitehill secondary school..... wish i had stuck in at school but i liked adventures like shoplifting etc got my life back to together about 15 years ago
A Song that I haven't heard in years , I remember been played in the U.K. and Ireland of course during the 80's. But hear on radio that much for some reason.
WOW! I've not heard this since I was about 12! Was only 6 when it came out... but there was always a radio or Hi-Fi on around me as my Parents love music. This song with its catchy tune is hard wired into my brain!
Listening to and watching the vid takes me back to when I was 9 in 1986. The world was certainly a very different place then. I take it every alot of fun was had while making the vid.
A classic song from a classic 80's band. Someone tell Bush to get this on his IPOD and listen to the lyrics. Still very relevant. REDBOX should have been MASSIVE!
The same happened to me mate. I was just saying In America Yurali Yurali Ye. My mates said I was bonkers!! Then one day someone said RED BOX and that saved my sanity and on UA-cam low and behold there it was. So glad we finally found after all those years.
When I hear this, I feel a bit drunk. 86-87, youth club, bottle of Liebraumilch, I'm a bit wobbly and I hope that girl likes me as much as I like her. Funny how vivdly sounds and smells can drag up memories.
omfg - this was one of my favourite songs... erm... a very long long time ago. i only managed to find the song recently - and this is the first time i've seen the video - so thanks :)
My name is Ricky Collyer from Tumble, West Wales. Been searching for this song for 15 years and I've just found it in the last week. All my friends thought I had lost the plot when miming this song, now they will all believe in Americ-coola-coola-coola yey! hahah!
Havent heard this song for about 20 years even though i´ve been looking. One of my alltime favorites! Fan, man ska ha lite tur ibland...och en smula skicklighet också förstås :-D
This is one video I thought I would never see again but I am constantly amazed by this site. What great lyrics! E.g. 'title fights and human rights, the satellites get parasites' and 'magazines and gasoline, and made in Taiwan western scenes'
Red Box is coming back with a new album. A different direction -- paired down, acoustical with swirly strings and impeccable songs. No deal as yet but they plan a few homegrown UA-cam videos in the near future. Watch this space!
Political is the word, next goes sueing and all that stuff, and look - I am from Poland, but I'm neither interested in politics nor in UEFA let alone sueing. All I love is music, music is universal and that's my message.
I thought the whole idea of this song was based on TOTAL sarcasm, and not meant to be understood literally?! Oh well, we all learn something new everyday, dont we? :p
Ha I never got the Anti America sentiment, mind you I was 10, and i just loved the catchy chorus. Came across this the other day, still sounds actually quite good!!
