The western Pride is an old boat. I went on her 2nd trip. in the 70s.and all through my younger years. fantastic ocean goer. Can handle very rough seas
One of the covid bright sides was less people on the boat.
Oh man wish I booked a couple of trips back then, bet it was a nice fishing experience for sure
Me and my pops went on the half day venture during the morning to afternoon and between me and him we caught almost 40 fish

It looks like some of the guys getting the bigger fish were had the weights sitting atop the hooks kinda like a Carolina rig type of set up. It probably gave the bait fish more line to swim more naturally instead of only having a few inches of wiggle room using the double dropper rig you were using. You could even try using a three way swivel with one leader going to the weight and the other going to the bait fish.

If I’m going on one of these do I need to purchase a fishing license?
Seems too many people, I understand the cost is cheaper when there's a lot of people but I would suggest for look into a smaller group price

Idk seems like the western pride is to small. Freelance better imo. Also the deck hands were nicer
