      If you don't have exposure to others experiences and humour, how can you judge what's appropriate and what could possibly hit too close to home? I don't want to traumatise people with jokes that remind them of shit they're still having panic attacks and waking up fearing for their lives over. We don't play helicopter sounds around ex soldiers and nobody bats an eye about that. There's plenty of funny shit that doesn't cause that for anyone.

    • @nebulamask81
      @nebulamask81 5 років тому +76

      Eddie T Dead "We don't play helicopter sounds around ex soldiers" I don't know where you're from but we certainly do here in the states, as well as fly overs, guns being shot, esp. at events to honor and celebrate soldiers. What we don't do is just not have events all at the detriment of everyone else because seeing or hearing something might trigger some one.
      "There's plenty of funny shit that doesn't cause that for anyone" There is literally not a single joke that doesn't have a target or something in it that could trigger some one. Even something as mundane as why did the chicken cross the road has the listener as the target and implies their stupidity. What if some one got beat up as a child for not getting that joke and it causes a panic attack? We can't have that according to your logic now could we.
      How about instead of worrying about every possible thing that might trigger some one... if some one has these sorts of issues, they work on them with their health care provider and not go to places where there is a high likely hood of getting triggered. If jokes trigger you... don't go to a damn comedy club. If some one just doesn't like the joke/event/whatever, they can just leave.

      @rationaljudgment 5 років тому +34

      @Nepho 🤣😂. What? Offended by pushing taboo jokes? Hate to tell you but all the best comics throughout history pushed the stigma of taboo. Be it Race, culture, etc.
      It's a reminder of our humanity and why taking serious subjects with a light heart makes them easier to confront and talk about. Comedy offers that very unique avenue, unless you're fanatically offended like yourself.

    • @nebulamask81
      @nebulamask81 5 років тому +23

      Nepho YES it's too much to ask that people don't tell jokes that YOU don't like. If you don't like a joke, you should just leave instead of them not being able to be told. Btw did you not see the ep where the jolly dude in plaid (Benny?) talks about how he appreciates sexual abuse jokes because he was sexually abused as a child and it helps him deal with that when people make light of it? That's not uncommon for victims. Why would you want to deny that to them?

Because to joke about something is to make light of a situation, and persecution is not something to make light off, especially if you directly experienced it first hand. While I don't mind being the butt of both offensive and non offensive jokes, I can understand why they think its wrong to make light of a situation. Pingu is epic In the context of this joke isn't it the gay community that's punching down at the straight community because the gay community is able to get more to their parades because of their perceived superior ability? Doesn't it just create & further division between groups if one can joke about the other but not vice versa?

      @@nebulamask81 No? Do you really think gay people have superiority because muh more parades? I don't have a problem with straight people joking about gay people, I just find they usually aren't very good at it, because they don't know the funny parts of being gay because they aren't gay, and also gay jokes are just used as an excuse to be homophobic by some people and as a dogwhistling method.

That's proof that all comedy is comedy. If you're offended, that's your own problem to solve.
