hey my friend , just found your channel and i like what i'm watching , thankyou for sharing. i love spyderco's , i mean quite a few but not all. i have more expensive knives but now i am not prepared to pay a lot of money for a knife and with spyderco you do not have to but you get an amazing package. i have not yet grabbed a manix 2. it's been on my list but never had. i actually don't mind the colour . i'n just not sure whether to pick up this one or the maxemet lightweight . ? what are your thoughts on the two steels. maxemet is quite a bit more expensive but not ridiculous. i assume that not much will out perform maxemet. what am i after o.k mainly edge retention full stop. great channel hope you can reply ian uk.
Id go with the color scheme you like best. If you truly want purely the best edge retention then maxamet is the winner hands down. But rex is fantastic as well. They both hold an edge for a long time. Take a great edge. Rex is stronger at the edge meaning its less prone to chipping easily and its more stain resistant in my experience. The action on the maxamet manix lws seem to be better though. Due to the stonewashed blade i imagine. So many reasons to like both. I think youll be happy with either. Ive owned them both and cant say i really loved one over the other.
I didn't know it was pinned together before I bought the knife but I still like it. But I'm an Aggies fan not longhorn so I'm not thrilled with the color either.
FYI - GP Knives has a Manix 2 in REX45 $129 (exclusive limited qty dropped today ) Thanks for the video!
Interesting thoughts on Cobalt. It is surprising how well the factory edge held up.
