Some great feedback from Epic Militaria who are actively working to remedy some of the points raised in the review, which is really encouraging - in particular focusing on improving the quality (and range) of the insignia, as well as remedying the very minor points with the smock. Really looking forward to seeing these changes come in to being.
Surplus clothing is becoming hard to get now because of the war in the Ukraine
If your buttoning the flap under the crotch , surely you’d prefer a better fit or a shorter smock. Unless your just pruning the roses.
I am 6'2" with a 42" chest, long arms. Sizing for these smocks can be difficult and frustrating. Bought the WPG 2nd model in size #6. Washed in cold water, they will shrink a little, not much but you will notice. Don't put in dryer! The quality seems good but I had to replace the snaps, they are useless as is.
Sizing does seem to be interesting on smocks from companies, they are all over the place. However it’s great Epic do the longer version.
Did you say what sizes you got?
I’m thinking of getting a repro Denison smock for casual wear/bushcrafting. Which uses heavier material, SOF, Epic Militaria, or What Price Glory? Do you know any other producers?
SOF
nice
I have a question: about the Denison smock. How tall are you and do you need circumference? What size did you order? According to the information about the required circumference from epic military, I would have to order a size 3. According to chest circumference. But I'm 5'11 tall and have a 40 chest at sof, compared to the size 4 at epic. I'm confused. And would like to know what you bought for your size and chest circumference. Thank you, best regards from North Germany
In WW2 did they were smocks all day ? Was there a layering principle like modern hiking etc I’m from California so its always “nice weather” unless in the mountains or a windy beach day? Maybe a cold night at the pub outdoor seating 😂
This type of smock was not windproof, nor as waterproof as the modern ones (CS95, PCS, etc.) so as such they do not respond to what we know as layered clothing, besides that they were heavy; very very heavy
If your buttoning the flap under the crotch surely you’d prefer a better fit or a shorter smock
