Thank you! I know this was a labor of love. I used to care about football, and these Dallas Cowboys especially. This highlights clip shows the stark contrast to what the game is today: a game of non-excitement. Dorsett was one of the most exciting backs ever, and he's lucky to have played during a time when his talent could be expressed this way.
I don't give a rat's ass about any professional sports anymore, but this was a joy to watch.
Thanks Bill, I appreciate it 👍🙏. Dorsett was an amazing runner.
Don’t give up on professional sports in the USA. It’s not the fault of sports for the greed of the people. I’m 47 from San Antonio Tx. So need I say TD#1 , Earl #2 for me. Yes I talk about many differences in sports today. Then I realize sports and the love of the game only keep me entertained. After all ironic as it maybe. Tom Brady ended up a Buc then wins a super bowl. I use to love Brady as a Wolverine. Hated him as a patriot. I believe his 1 trophy belong to the other Wolverine. A 1 Charles Woodson. Then Brady ends up playing for my third favorite team. And wins a super bowl. Yes bucs, right after Dallas, then the giants. 👀 now I’m just supportive of the younger players and the love of the game.
Well put!
All they have to do now is break 1 tackle or make 1 move, & then they still can't hardly outrun the secondary, TD was Smooth as Silk
@@telvinjones1823 hold up hold up!? You can't call your favorite team your favorite team and then turn around and favorite a rival (let alone a division rival) team to the first team you called your favorite !
It doesn't work that way.
Now I can see calling two teams from different CONFRENCES
BUT YOU SORTA SCREWED YOURSELF BY CALL8NG OUT THE Dallas Cowboys as your favorite, because even in the AFC teams like the Pittsburgh Steelers look at Dallas as a legitimate rival even though they only play now once every 4 years!! Unless they meet in the big game at the end of the season. The entire NFL had marked the Dallas Cowboys as the ONE team they must beat when given their opportunity
I couldn't imagine even sorta kinda in a way feeling a likeness for another team
I'm a Dallas Cowboy fan for life.... the greatest sports franchise ever
Dear God? Let the 3rd Dynasty begin!
Tony Dorsett has been my favorite “runner” forever. He had the prettiest stride there was. He didn’t make a whole lot of movies, just one or two and GONE!! Speeeeed!!!
Me too! Wore his # in high school!
Exactly 💯💯💯
He did have a pretty stride and it was natural too.
@@jamesferrell2449 Always good leverage, agility, and balance on his runs.
Emmitt maybe the all-time yards leader, and I like Emmitt, but I would take Tony over him any day.
Lifetime Cowboy fan here and you're right Tony Dorsett all day long twice on Sunday
I believe Emmitt was more of a warrior, but Dorsett as a superior athelete could go...literally...99 yards to score. Personally my favorite was Herschel Walker.
Yessir
@@trandenhawkins6455 Imagine Tony Dorsett behind that 90s O-Line
Me to. Tony is probably my favorite running back. What a runner.
My favorite running back in the NFL is Tony Dorsett and I'm a Washington Fan.
That’s awesome, btw nice win last week. You guys deserved it.
My fav fullback is John Riggins and I'm a Cowboys fan :)
John Higgins was great I'm cowboys fans.he is third favorite
How is that possible? I guess if I could have all of the respect in the world of Darrell Green and feel that Theismann was one of the most underrated QB’s in the league, then....... Maybe you’re from Pittsburgh?
@@michaell874 lol, mu dad's a Redskins fan an he likes Romo over Theisman. Just makes me sick.
Tony Dorsett was not only fast, but at 5"10' and 183 lbs, he was the strongest man in the NFL one year. He out lifted everyone, including Defensive Ends. I saw it, but I couldn't believe it, he surprised everyone!
Tony dorsett was the greatest 185 lb running back I ever saw and my favorite running back in cowboy history haven't seen one like him before or after and in this age where you can't hit anybody he'd even be better.
100 years of the NFL. Dorsett is the only R B under 200 lbs to rush for 10k yards.
Dorsett was a beast. i think about him and james brooks as the best 180lb backs
@@debbiehenson1096Walter Payton could also have been under 200 lbs.
The most fluid running back I’ve ever seen. And underrated for his toughness. I hate the Cowboys but I know greatness when I see it. Childhood memories
My favorite athlete in the whole wide world nothing beats Tony dorsett for me is my favorite athlete of all time and if he had the line that emmitt Smith had he would have rushed property nearly 30,000 yards I truly believe that
Rich I hate the Cowboys as well and I was a fan of Dorsett when he was in college at Pittsburgh. Was hoping that the Steelers draft him
Overrated!! And he couldn't break a tackle. Fast yes that's about it and this is coming from a Cowboy fan!
@@zeppelinfan9360 He's rank #10 all-time Rushing Leaders in NFL history did I mention he won the Heisman in college plus he's in the NFL Hall of Fame and he's rank#77 The Top 100 NFL Greatest Player you couldn't hold his jockstrap waterboy !!! LoL 😂😂😂🏈🏈🏈
Never underrated he's rank #10 All time rushing leader plus he's a Hall of Famer also rank #77 The Top 100 Greatest Player 🏈🏈🏈🏈😂😂🤣
Tony Dorsett was blessed by God..... with STUPID speed..He didn't need to juke or shake you..He could flat out fly... And his running style....was built for speed.. Drug of choice...SPEED.. Favorite saying...SPEED kills.. Advantages...Human cheat code.. Favorite move...reach under his jersey and press the Blur button 🔘.. 😆😂😆..Printing on the front of his jersey said ( HELLO) back of his jersey said ( GOOD BYE)... Going and Coming at the same time....
It's so true. Tony didn't need to make "moves" most of the time. He would just bait people into taking one wrong step and he had them.
A True Legend in Cowboys/NFL History TD.
He went from 0 to full speed pretty fast
He had tremendous speed.
THAT was Dorsett in a nutshell. "Pretty fast" indeed.
When Tony D hit the adrenaline pedal, look out. He had world-class acceleration. On a football field, that can be as little as 2-3 yards, but it means everything. He was truly a special athlete.
Tony left his heart on the field he brought so much joy to my childhood thanks TD Cte has taken his later years but I know we all appreciate it as fans. Feel better Tony 👉🏽🏆
We don't appreciate shit. We complain that hard hits are penalties now. We want the players to continue to kill themselves for our enjoyment, then bitch when they get hurt, and have to sit out. "What is he made of, GLASS?"
Tony's an all time great, but Robert Newhouse was a very underrated blocker.
Robert Newhouse was underrated period. One of my all time favorite Cowboys. Even with Dorsett as the featured back, Newhouse still had a thousand yard season and that was when there were only 12 regular season games. He broke his leg and was never given a fair chance to come back as a starter, IMO because Tom Landry was eager to start Ron Springs.
@@Earl_Richter Loved Newhouse, but he never went 1000.
@@aaropajari7058 You’re right, my mistake. I just checked. Once, in 1975, he had 930. I remember a season where the announcers kept talking about Tony and Newhouse possibly both having 1,000 yard season but I checked the stats and it never happened. My bad. Guess my memory told me that it did. Still one of my favorite Cowboys though. He did everything the team asked of him.
@@Earl_Richter Couldnt agree more. Would have loved a Newhouse 1000 yard season, or 1000 for both like the Dolphins and Steelers managed once. He did everything, including throwing touchdown passes in the Superbowl. You clearly have a great appreciation for real players.
My fav RB of all time! Sweetest runner ever! Most underrated greatness of all time! TD THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES!!!
No problem Jerry, thanks for commenting.
Yes man I tell u he was it man he could take it allway any time I love him he was favorite Zeke can touchhim
💯
I'm a life long Cowboys fan but when you say sweetest you have to be talking about sweetness- Walter Payton.
NOBODY hit the hole like TD he was so fast and elusive even his non scoring runs were amazing !!! Thank you so much for putting this out !!!!
rushing or receiving, Dorsett was a threat to score on any play he touched it..goal line to goal line.
I watched all these back in the day, but I didn't realize what a thing of beauty it was to watch him. He's like a gazelle.
Tony D is one of the best running backs that every played football. Speed kills. My favorite run of all times is the 99 yard run on Monday Night Football!! Mr. T.D
Minnesota Vikings Sunday night game
@@byronbarnhill339 The Cowboys only had 10 men on the field on that run.
My all time favorite Cowboys player! He ran so smooth with incredible vision.
What a joy to watch this. I saw every single one of those as a kid. He was one of my all time fav Cowboy players. No one ran the ball as smoothly as Dorsett. Great balance and quick stop and start. He was a real joy to watch.
I remember as a kid he was one of the reasons I became a lifelong Cowboys fan. His form, his style, his speed, the way he held the ball out to his side when scoring 6.
Now this gives me a whole new respect & appreciation for the man. Thanks for making this!
Thanks 👍 he was before my time, but I can tell just by watching him he was a very talented running back. Cowboys have had so many throughout there history it amazes me.
The man scored from every point on the field. In my opinion he is the G.O.A.T. 99, 84, 77, 60, 55, 40, 33, 28, 17, and 2. There is no other running back in the history of the NFL can say that.
Plus pass reception touchdowns from every distance but 80's. Ironically Ron Springs, Herschel Walker and Emmitt Smith all had one in the 80's. Emmitt's wasn't a touchdown though so that one don't count I guess, Aneas Williams messed it up.
The speed and quickness along with his cut back abilities were fun to watch.
His stop on a dime and then accelerate speed was the best ever.
The greatest home run back ever. Have there been faster RB’s? In forty years I have never seen one . Track times are track times. Pads on firing through the line TD was into the back like no other. And Dallas fans think Zeke is great. Oh boy !!
TD was my favorite running back of all times.. Until I found out that he could reach under his jersey and hit the Blur button... 😂
And so many times he was on cruise control after busting thru the line. His acceleration was just tremendous.
Well, OJ, Eric Dickerson, and Hershel Walker were faster RBs. But TD is still one of the greatest.
@@lwmson OJ was not faster than Tony Dorsett and Dickerson was only 3 tenths of a second faster witch puts them almost dead even in which Dorsett was quicker
@@anthonydavis2190 I remember when TD ran a 9.5 int he 100 yd dash to win the Superstar competition, when the Juice ran it in 1974, he did a 9.4.
Still my hero to this day
Go Cowboys
Tony was that dude. My offensive coordinator in HS Chris Legrie played with Tony at Pitt. I use to love to hear Coach Legrie's stories about him. He once told me that Tony didn't really practice. He would just sit there on a beach chair with sunglasses on & the coach would just call him in to the practice field to return kick returns & he said he would just score everytime. I don't know how true this story is but it sounded cool at the time.
Mr. "Look Out" himself!!!. How many times did the announcers say "Look out" when he got into the open field?
Or GOODBYE!
Tony D one of quickest. Running backs of all time once he hit that whole he takes off like a bullet and was a good receiver as we'll,
The guy was like Crown Royal so smooth!
Barry and all the other running backs may have had more yards, but there is no way in hell they were better running backs then Tony Dorsett.
If Sanders hit the holes like Tony, Barry would easily have 20,000 yards for his career
@@howardcosell2022 Barry didn't have holes to hit.
Back in the day, I knew 45 of the Cowboys’ names and number BECAUSE I was such a fan of Tony Dorsett. My favorite football player of all time. It was so nice watching this video of (most of) his career Dallas Cowboys touchdowns. Brought back a lot of memories.
That’s awesome, thanks for commenting 👍.
The one and only touchdown Tony, so smooth
The guy had outstanding vision, cutting ability, and speed. He was so smooth it ridiculous. Whoever was the offensive coordinator deserved credit too.
Did you notice Tony didn't have to perform some juvenile delinquent dance after every touchdown??? Today's players spend their time rehearsing stupid "celebrations" for when they score...
Yeah the dances and celebrations are so annoying.
Back when Football was Football and not a political rally !
Facts James 💯.
It's called The First Amendment Freedom to peacefully protest. It was that lame duck in the White house that disregarded Kaepernick's rights to Assemble in protest by taking a knee because a military vet told him this is what they do to honor falling soldiers, but O'l Bunker boy donnie used it to divide and conquer fans by saying Kap was disrespecting the Military and and the flag creating a big spectacle of drama because that's what he is reality tv. So I ask you if you believe Kap was being disrespectful than what would you call those treasonous invaders we saw attack the capital?
@@BlackMoonHawk No veteran would take a knee during the national anthem to honor fallen soldiers.
@@BlackMoonHawk he was commenting that back then football wasn’t political. When players took a knee for the national anthem they were being POLITICAL. Get it
#33 Tony Dorsett
One of the Greatest Cowboys of All Time!
Possibly the greatest running back to ever play the game
TD was such a beautiful player to watch, his style was so smooth with little shifts here and there and then boom he was gone. Amazing talent in an era that didn't have many players like him. Thanks for honoring him and his greatness I think he gets overlooked a lot when people talk about the greatest RB's of all time. Tony deserves to atleast be in the conversation. Yes I'm a diehard Cowboys fan and will be for life and I still wear his jersey every Sunday, my favorite Cowboys player ever.
Thanks 🙏, and Dorsett is definitely one of the all time greats.
I forgot what a great receiver out of the backfield he was. He made those great runs seem so effortless.
I like how you feature the long yardage tds and the short yardage tds as well. A lot of people did not think Dorsett read though runner in between the tackles because he was a cut back runner. But I am going to say he was a tough runner in between the tackles because he hit the hole so fast. He knew when to take a hit and not to take a hit that is why his career lasted do long without major injuries.
He was awesome...The very best Cowboy #33 Legend
It was sweet that his initials were TD as in Touchdown but if his initials were SB they would stand for SONIC BOOM! So if there was ever a loud boom in the stadium when the Cowboys played that was just Dorsett breaking the sound barrier 💥! As a matter of fact if Dorsett was a car parked next to a Corvette, I'd rather drive the Dorsett.............hummm a Chevy Dorsett! Great acceleration, good braking, handles corners, 0-60 in 1.5 seconds, great top end speed, longevity I'm sold!
Wow t.d. never thought. U is a genius. And the dorsett car was a good one to
Always acted like he'd been there, done that after scoring. Better than today's over-celebrating.
I've been a Cowboys fan for 45 years, win or lose, there has never been a better backfield team than #33 and #44 , both football Greats
Tony Dorsett, The Man, the Myth and the Legend for life.
One on One with Dorsett, you lose.
thank you for this !!!! this brought back SO MANY GREAT MEMORIES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No problem. Glad you enjoyed it 👍.
Tony D...I still to this date remember Monday Night Football on couch with my dad and Dorsett took off for 99 yards verse the Vikings. Awesome!!! To me these were the days...
Awesome memory to have 👍. Cowboys only had 10 players on the field, makes it even more impressive.
My husband tells the story all the time about how when he was a kid watching that game and Howard Cosell saying you can't run on this Viking defense about the time Roger Staubach handed the ball to Tony Dorsett and 99 an a half yards later Tony Dorsett was in the end zone. What a Beautiful run that was and Cosell shut up!
Grew up watching Tony . my Middle name was Dorrset in back yards cuz nobody could touch me. He's the reason I played RB in high school. But Bundy beat me with one TD
The greatest RB next to AL BUNDY
He always looked like he was leaning forward...and with that excelaration... WOW.. totally blessed.. He'd make the defense play tag football...lol
His speed was mesmerizing, he found the openings with ease. Refused to be denied. He looked Faster than everyone else on the field offense and defense. They used him a lot in the passing game. Now package this video and Emmitt's highlights and send them to Moore, Mccarthy and Zeke.
why the background music...
I think my favorite run of his, and one I'll always remember watching, was the the TD at St. Louis, where he runs toward the center of the line, suddenly spins around and takes it to the outside. The Cardinals defense collides into itself, and Tony runs to the left and scores. I will never forget that day. Beautiful.
Thank you for sharing!
I was blown away watching Dorsett in college at Pittsburgh WoW he was truly Amazing and Highly gifted running back.
#33 - My favorite Cowboy of all time. He was so electric, quick, and flowed across the field with tremendous vision. TD was a scoring threat from anywhere on the field!
At 12:39 I still can't figure out how he made that tackler miss when he had just taken the hand-off, and those corners had the angel from both sides and he still out ran them??????
Favorite Cowboy of all time!! Once he saw an opening it was good night baby!!
I loved watching Dorsett run
Born in 1970 and lived only in New England and Florida I’m a life long a Cowboy fan because of TD Roger Staubach Drew Pearson and Randy White
That’s awesome 👍. Those guys were great.
Born in 68 outside of cleveland and what you said is why im a Cowboy fan to this day.And only been a Cowboy fan.
So was Belicheck. Maybe the biggest Roger Staubach fan of ALL time.
When he touched the 🏈 spotlight was his 🏆🎖️🏆
The documented record and this video proves beyond ALL doubt that Tony Dorsett was the most explosive back in NFL history. Dorsett is the ONLY running back in NFL history to have touchdown runs of 90 yards, 80 yards, 70 yards, 60 yards, and 50 yards. Dorsett also had touchdown catches of 90 yards, 80 yards, 60 yards, and 50 yards.
TD was fearless. If Barry Sanders hit the holes like Dorsett, Sanders would have 20k yards easily
TD would’ve had another 90 yd plus touchdown...If not for Daryl Green...🏈
@@kirkindog No it would've been only an 80+ yard touchdown......lol
And I don't care what NObody say: our dark blue jerseys were sweet as hell...
Unbelievable how many touchdowns he scored without being tackled. If he had played 15 years later in the age of the one back system he would have 20,000 yards. Hardest running North/South running back under 200 pounds in history. Tough as nails. My favorite running back of all time.
Tony Dorsett was so fast it was crazy. He was at top speed with just two steps. If Landry would have split him out wide a lot more as a receiver they would have won a lot more games because there was not a corner in the league that could match his speed.
I fell in love with RB's because of "tre tre" #33
I was always more of a QB/WR guy until TD made a name for himself donning that star ⭐
TD had it all, quickness, top line speed, and great vision.
My idol growing up... I wanted to be just like him. The Best!!!
Touchdown Tony!!!
I like all of Tony's touchdowns in blue jerseys
Michael Leroy Same, I like those old jerseys.
Vin Scully in that game with the Cardinals called him " Anthony Dorsett" which was his son's name who played in the NFL
Actually “Anthony” is Tony Dorsett’s real name. They just called him “Tony” for short...🏈
From old school So CA football fan. The Dallas Cowboys with Tony in the backfield; what can I say but inspiring to even casual fans. I loved Tony and those Cowboys. I think of the Troy Aikman teams with the same admiration; real classics.
That's why I am Cowboy Fan to this day. #33.
I am too.Got a 33 Dorsett jersey in my closet.🏈🏈🏈
God bless Tony Dorsett. 10/30/21
Sure miss those days of yesteryears! Thanks TD, Roger for all the wonderful memories.
I forgot how good this guy was. Great video. So many great RBs in the late 70's early 80's.....Dorsett, Payton, Cambell, Dorsett, Sims, Riggins, Andrews, Montgomery, Harris, Cribbs, Czonka.......I know I'm missing many others. The NFL's golden era for RBs.
This man is in the top 5 of greatest running backs ever. They said he was 190 pounds. Bull shit. I got to stand close to him after a game and I was 220 at that time. He couldn’t have been over 180 but he was unbelievable. He had great vision and unbelievable speed. Not to mention smith ran behind the best OL ever. If I had to pick one it’s Dorsett every day of the year
His excelaration was like Carl Lewis's... something to behold....
umm...no.
My favorite player growing up. I loved his spin move just before he makes contact with the defensive player, spins off them and changes direction. Defensive player falls over.
i always felt landry under used him in the passing game.. the one that stilll haunts me is super bowl 12. he was shredding pittsburgh early in that game. and landry went away from him. mind blowing. even the pittsburgh players after the game said they were glad they went away from him because we couldnt figure a way to stop him. 🤦♂️ he could have been on his way to mvp in that game. 😭🤦♂️
If Landry had a weakness I think it was his indecisiveness with personnel. Merideth & Morton, Morton & Staubach, Dorsett & Committee, Dorsett & Walker, White & Hogeboom, White & Pelluer. Dallas destroyed Denver in Super Bowl 12, Dallas had success vs Pitts in 13 early on but with the run but that is a tough D to run on all night and when your 35-17 you have to throw
My same recollection, Tony was killing it, then the double reverse (FUCK!!!!) ... Benny Barnes (interference????????????????????), Randy White fumble ... OK let me stop before I break something!!!
@@hjfj90 😆 i know sticks with ya..

That's when the Cowboys had that DOOMSDAY defense.. LOL 🤣😆 and the offense would shift the formation until the opposing team when just give up on their audibles... LOL
Yeah Tom Landry was a genius.

And the late Robert Newhouse. Would be leading the block❤️🙏👍
If TD had Emmitt's OL's, he'd have run for 20K yards.
Good old days of elbow pads 🙂
Tom Brady would not have lasted one full season if he played with them in the real football days

No problem 👍, thanks for watching 🙏.
Speed for days. Lol at a LB trying to cover him on seam routes.

The Cardinals were the Cowboys fiercest rivals in the mid 70's. Adding Dorsett put the rivalry away
He was the best running back for the cowboys
It's amazing how many of these runs people barely could lay a hand oh him. This man was a flash in pads. Great video thanks for uploading!

LOVED me some Tony Dorsett! Outstanding running back, every bit as talented as Barry Sanders and was more of a threat. And don’t bother arguing with me about it.
There's nothing to argue about

Tony Dorsett! Prettiest running back I ever saw! The man could fly!
Growing up in the late 70’s in Texas, every kid wanted to be either Tony Dorsett or Roger Staubach. The Dallas Cowboys was like religion back then.
I met Tony many years later when I was working at KWES-TV, NewsWest 9 in Midland, Texas (1996 ish). I saw him in the hallway one day and that made my year. He was super nice and still looked like he could run 100 yards at a dead sprint. Made the little kid in me remember watching my hero on TV.
Why can’t sports still be that way today?
