Like it or not this is happening. That is what I heard when "NEW COKE" came out.
It’s not about the tech, car guys love tech. I think this vehicle is a great idea. I think ruining the iconic Mustang name by sticking in on an SUV is moronic. Ford spent the last 50 years building the Mustang brand. Even GM which is chock full of bad ideas won’t be sticking the Corvette name on the new Trailblazer or Stingray name on an SUV. And Dodge won’t be sticking the Challenger or Hellcat name on a minivan. Come on Ford Marketing! Why not call this great new vehicle the Lightning? Or anything else?
They will aim to disappoint like they always do.

I'm conflicted. I love the Mustang and have always wanted to own one, but I also think EV's are going to take off pretty hard in the hot-rod world. Just do a search on electric swaps and the shit people are doing now is nuts, I can't imagine what it will be 5 or 20 years from now, once the technology becomes even more refined. Only time will tell really, but I think Ford is taking a pretty cool gamble that could pay off for them in the long-run. This could very well the EV CUV for those who may not necessarily want to drop $90k+ on an Audi or a Jag, but also don't want to deal with the frat club that is Tesla. 2020's going to be an interesting year for automotive.

Great design. There are many who want a Mustang, but needs seating to handle at least four adults. With a 300 mile range, and apparently a solid performance option. The EV is the future of the auto industry and the Mach E opens a completely new market for Ford.
Regards Tesla surpassing the F-150. They will need to up production to a level they can't obtain building their cars. The other issue is pricing. Maybe a few years from now Tesla may put a dent into Ford's F series sales, but remember. Ford will also have a EV F-150.

& for the tons of people that dislike the new mustang, sure go ahead, Ford, push the ugliness of a mustang mach II to your SUV's. Fords Escape was sexy and not too tough, now they are selling this Mach E against their own Ford Bronco now?! Admit it, Dodge kicks their ass in looks and in HP but not in fuel economy. Chevy has taken more steps toward ending who is #1 on the round track, the street legal Dodge Demon has the 1/4 mile, Ford has high power & gas mileage. Technically the "CobraJet" kicks the shit out of the Dodge Demon in 1/4 mile but the CobraJet is not street legal.
Ford says they want to compete in the EURO market but they dont even offer AWD. Ford was going to build plants in Mexico til Trump stepped in with huge taxation then Mr. Ford said nah. My entire family owns Ford trucks, wife has a 2012 Escape and I have a 3rd car 2014 Mustang GT. Dodge Challenger is really looking sexy and has a huge engine that I can toy with and make tons of power. Mr. Ford really needs to dig deep and kick his design team in the ass or out the door.
I am so sick of SUV's. Not everyone wants to drive a big oversize box. Some of us like a smaller sporty car that sits low to the ground. I have been in love with the Mustang since 1964, but the day they turn it into a 4 door SUV is the day I stop buying Mustang from Ford. As for electric, it is the way of the future. If they can give a real, two-door Mustang Tesla-like performance, let's go!
Where exactly do you think you are going with a 99Ampere Hour battery? That's about 135bhp for 1 hour or 270 for 30 minutes and a flat battery after one track session. The car isn't the problem, the technology is and the many claims for endurance and performance don't add up.

I have no issues with a Mustang inspired SUV, I do however have a problem with Ford killing off their sedans, I happen to love my 400hp MKZ and wanted to replace my '17 with a 2020 model which won't happen so I have to buy a 2019 which hasn't changed much or go the Continental which costs more. The Aviator is interesting at 494hp but I don't need a frackin SUV....

Flagships sales are never good, I highly doubt it will put a dent in Model Y sales. Since the Y i based off of the Model 3 people wont have a problem buying it.
Most of your favorite sports cars will be crossovers because sports cars are just useless and you can no longer go speeding down the highway, your freedom is going and the only useful vehicles are crossovers, hybrids, and electric vehicles.

You can’t travel cross country in this looks nice but would cost an arm and a leg to repair should anything on it break assuming you’ve used up the warranty unfortunately these companies horde the patents thus preventing the little people from working on these things without going to a dealership and boy do they charge name brand pricing

Hey asshole, I own a 2013 cmax energi as the wifes DD 125000 miles and not a single issue with it... I also own 2 mustangs , a 2014 & a 2017 both gt's Try sticking to what you know... which from my vantage point is not a whole hell of a lot.
How about Ford, Chevy, and Dodge brings back the old school style pointy/sharp muscle car body style, but with modern day technology. Because every new car I see looks more and more like half a circle, it's getting rounder and rounder.

So, it's rumored to be RWD standard and AWD optional, as for platforms, could Ford be using a shortened version of the new-gen Ford Explorer / Lincoln Aviator (modular CD6) platform, honestly, I hope so, was guessing the next-gen Ford Edge / Lincoln Nautilus would be based on a shortened version of the new-gen Ford Explorer / Lincoln Aviator (modular CD6) platform, anyway, it looks like a midsize coupes styled SUV, kind of looks like a larger version of the Ford Puma CUV, but with Mustang styled front/rear fascia, EV range, price, size, and performance are the question, along with its tech
