I've driven this road and the video does not reflect the shear dropoffs to the either side of much of this road and broken edges of the dirt portion - this is a supreme feat of confidence and skill! Rally drivers are the best drivers in the world!

The concentration it takes to read those notes is unreal! I'd probably get nauseous.
what the fuck is the navigator saying
I really appreciate how drivers can instantly recognize what the navigator sais and how the navigator takes time to learn the keywords of the track
+SatiricalMeme rally is a beautiful thing
Dave and Craig, Congratulations... I have been watching your successes on Launch Control for two years now. You guys are the upmost in professionalism, and Subaru is lucky to have you. As a Subaru owner, I am extremely proud of all your accomplishments. Keep up the good work.
I didn't know I could hold my breath for over 6 min. Almost as amazing as this run!
That is terrifying to even watch. True skill.
this is the only sport i can just watch and i get a tiny rush.
Man how I wish so much for Subaru to go back to wrc and take Higgins and Drew to that competition. They would be sick..
GOOD. LORD.
the transition from road to dirt made my palms sweaty
Well of course he is listening to his co-driver. I never do rally but everythime I play rally racing game, it's easier to listen to co driver than looking at the map
does anyone else hate the way the navigators voice goes up and down like hes singing? i mean good work to both of them for such an amazing and courageous run lol
Driven this road a couple of times as well as Pike's Peak 14,200ft and Trail Ridge Road,14,400ft (highest in lower 48) both in Rocky Mountain N.F. in Colorado. Outstanding run guys! The only down side is the record they broke (shattered) was Carroll Shelby's in a Ferrari that stood since 1958 But still; OUT-FUCKING-STANDING!!!
that is not accurate. the record has been broken many many times since then
Awesome driving!
I was thinking about doing the climb to the clouds at Mt. Washington next year but that dirt stretch may have just killed it. All I can say is damn!
STILL AMAZING!
Holy shit that was impressive.
It's interesting to hear their pace notes evolving over time. This footage is the first time I've heard "gear" from Drew. Is that a reminder to downshift for a coming incline, or something else?
Yes
Is the gear box different on these rally cars than the normal production WRX/STI's? It doesn't look like the shift knob is going in any direction but straight forward and back.
Your seeing a "Sequential Gearbox" at work. Pull rear ward on lever and it goes to a higher gear, forward is lower. It must pass through each gear however, so skipping from 5th to 3rd isn't possible, but its much faster and no miss shifts!!
Awsome....
Is it just me or did any one notice that Craig Drew’s notes are a bit too far ahead.
If Higgins can keep up then what's the problem?
@@xxkillshot5xx Ha ha. I see. It doesn't matter what I think lol. As long as Higgins is good that's all that matters.
Goddamn I was shitting my pants just watching
Fuckin badass
What's up with the 6th gear?
Sounds like bouncing off the rev limiter as they made 6th really short
just a vibration through the cage that our cameras pick up.
do you honestly think he's listening to the guy in the passenger seat?
I always wonder how much they're listening too.
You mean the co-driver? Yes, absolutely.
yes..
Yes, you have to. Its really important here because he's telling him where and where he can't cut so he doesn't clip rocks or something because if he did, both lives would be in serious jeopardy. Also the road isn't the smoothest road, there is a lot of dips in the road so the co driver reminds Higgins of these so the car doesn't get light on him unexpectedly. Both are professionals, to you and me it just seems like a lot of over whelming notes, but the driver doesn't think about the notes, it just processes instantly when he's in the drivers seat.
What MrSnowrocks said. And it's actually not that hard to understand. It's made to be simple so it's fast and easy to understand.
Watch this with subtitles on. 50 titans in 70 fluff weight if a cross carry 100 long long jackets, hilarious 😆
My turn
the car sounds like it hates 6th gear, good thing it isn't used that much.
Can't wait to see more
Engine is bouncing off the limiter. They pick the final drive ratio so they hit it their max speed only a few instances on course, I believe. They seem to have done a good job for this one.
Boring stage and these cars are underpowered for the USA rally stages!
I was thinking about doing the climb to the clouds at Mt. Washington next year but that dirt stretch may have just killed it. All I can say is damn!
i drove that dirt section last week and that section is maybe 10 feet wide at its widest
I've driven up a few times and I agree with you.
Go for it, but drive slow on the dirt if it scares you !
I figure at this point I still will but it'll be a couple of years. Maybe when I do an old Impreza STi swap ill make that my rally car lol.
