About the gas setup in the kitchen. Look I'm a firefighter who lives and work in South America. Here those are the most common thing and it's virtually impossible to make that explode. Only cases are poor installation and the gas has this odor that they put on porpoise just to note any gas scape instantly. It's not dangerous at all if you use it in a responsable way. Other characteristic is that king of gas is very thin, so if some of it escape to the air, it will be very difficult to ignite, it propagate too quickly to stay in high concentration in the environment. So it's not to worry. Underground gas has many more accidents and there are more common. Sorry for my English.

Kuwaiti living is very similar to Indian living honestly. Back in 2016, my family and I stayed in an apartment while visiting family in India and the set up was very similar. Especially the bathroom with the 2 in 1 toilet and shower. Edit: but then again, our apartment didn't look like a prison as opposed to Salah's.
@@SansaCooks Too bad ChanToddler’s visit to Kuwait is so sketchy & awkward. I think people would’ve liked seeing them apartment hunting together & looking at different places🤷🏻♀️
There is nothing personal in this apartment and they have almost zero storage. Where are the books, magazines, photos, Knick-knacks, mementos etc.? He’s almost 30. Wouldn’t he have some of these things? It just feels very impersonal, cold and industrial.
The window in the living room does have an outside view, but it opens onto an internal space for airflow. Kind of like a square building with a void in the middle. All the apartments on that side would have windows that see into other apartments. As for washer/drier in the kitchen, that's common in the UK as well.
The kitchen looked like one big fire hazard. She doesn't want to show the bedroom because we will all see they don't share a bed. The snacks in the living room are hers, I don't know who she is trying to kid saying they are for guests. It must smell in there with no functional windows or ventilation and it does look kinda depressing if I'm honest. It's definitely not what chantal is used to and all the horrid comments she has made in the past about other people's homes she is definitely getting some karma here.
That kitchen does not appear to have been a kitchen all along. The sink is so shallow and the stove thing was basically an ad on. I wonder if this place was split up from a larger apartment into 2 smaller units.
@@SansaCooks yep, that is what it is. I've lived in many similar set ups. You get a lot of semi prepped stuff and combine it or takeout. You generally don't have guests over and its more geared towards a place to sleep with a locked door so you feel safer than a hostel. Most people living in such places work a lot of hours and aren't there much.
BOY she is ready to come back home. I would not have giving a tour, I would just describe it. Makes you appreciate on what you have whether it small or large. We are blessed in America and Canada to have a full bathroom. One thing her computer is in the bedroom, his in the living room. I guess she cannot use his computer and I’m sure there is a reason why she says I do not want wake up my husband all the time.
I read he lived with his father before she got there. He thought she would take care of him and bring him back to Canada. 1 more year and he she can sponsor him. if she qualifies.
Those gas cookers with the gas bottle aren't that weird, although in the West people generally only have such for camping purposes because gas comes from the pipe if your apartment uses gas, or your container might be placed in the basement and has a longer pipe delivering gas to the kitchen. But it's definitely the solution lower income apartments have in places like Kuwait, perhaps because it's more common in South Asia and a lot of the people who live in those apartments come from South Asia as migrant workers.
You would actually be surprised, gas cookers such as those are very, very popular and common in Japan and Korea. I think...people tend to be very uncomfortable with assets they've never used before, especially when they don't understand it. I personally don't think it's fair to talk negatively about it when others use it as a part of their normal life. What makes one uncomfortable is perfectly fine and normal for another.
@@VisaruSai I'm really pleased to hear from so many who have used these before! I appreciate your research and looking up Aimee Rebecca’s channel as well. I really wished you’d shown how Aimee Rebecca had shown that strange window to nowhere that goes between buildings up to and down to nothing…. It’s so odd. Also, Aimee as well as most female single teachers are Ina cohabiting living situation. Her footage was of her shared kitchen, shared living quarters- really the only two things that were hers alone were her bathroom and bedroom. This is what I think Chantals situation is. The multiple drinks in fridge, the foods she clearly never cooked with like pastas, the bathroom had multiple sets of shampoo conditioners- which seems odd for a couple, when none is bald. The fact that she didn’t show half the room indicates to me that it’s a closet and you’d clearly see no men’s clothing. I think salah still has his place, and comes by for visits. This is my opinions because of the current apartment- the sudden move to the apartment and none of his previous stuff in that new apartment and that all my research says that it would’ve been quite the paper work undertaking to get both her papers from Canada (months worth of work and wait time) and his papers in order as a Syrian. The fact that she was flashing these rings heavily almost immediately but never gave any more details kb her wedding day. Chantal had this as a dream goal. Finding her Arabian Prince to fall in love and marry her. She would pressure Nader to go on lives and to show any couple related content to prove how in love they were. If she finally had a man in love ab marrying her- who also is willing to be on her “show” as much as this guy has been, she’d have shown it in detail- every.single.second. Even if it was just signing papers.
That is normal for non Kuwaitis who are stateless/ bedoons, who are marginally paid. Kuwait is the 5th richest country in the world. Kuwaitis don’t live like that, and professional foreigners don’t live like that. My parents lived in the middle East 35 years. They sure as hell didn’t live like that. There’s nothing wrong with how they live. What’s wrong is Chantal’s constant need to lie. Like saying you apologized. That did not happen at all. She is incapable of telling the truth

Either there are two beds as you mentioned or that is where Foodie keeps are her crap in a pile which she wants us to believe that she is now a good housekeeper.
The “windows” only spark my curiosity about the building floor plan because my brain can’t transform this arrangement into any apartment/dorm I have ever encountered.
@@SansaCooks Perhaps. My guess is that this may have been a larger community building that has been further re-subdivided a number of times to maximize density.
I have lived in apartments that had windows to the comunal building stairs, in that case technically it went to the outside but I preferred it closed since plenty of people walked there
It might open to a ventilation shaft, which would be "outside but inside" like how Chantal phrased it. I have no idea if that concept is used in buildings there, but it was where my mind went when she showed the window and said that.
One thing chantal has accomplished is shown me I never want to visit Kuwait ever. Not that I had a big desire before but wow. Nope from me. He he. Thank you for the video sweetie 💕🤗

Chantal and salad are living in a rented unit in an office building turned apartment building for Bedoons (non Kuwait citizens). Salad is an uber driver. This is my take.
That apartment layout wouldn't be terribly out of place in Mexico with the exception of the washer and dryer. Most of the time washing machine is outside on a patio and there's no dryer. Tanks of gas are commonly use for cooking but hook up to regular gas burner stoves that have been adapted to use it. Trucks go house to house in the ranchos and make delivery of it. Combugas is a pretty popular one
@@deniseconealfinal9471 I'm a Mexican gorl and I've experienced both inside and outside. Some places can't leave the tanks outside they get stolen. In Gómez Palacio one of the houses had a tiny little room off the kitchen for the tanks because her colonia wasn't very safe Edit* But I've never seen one so close to the open flame. i should have clarified that. Or no protection between the tank a and the cooking area. I'm very concerned about that. That seems very bad especially if the tank leaks. The way she talked about Salah having his own place and a great job made it sound like she was moving on up. It was paradise. I pretty sure she had no idea about anything and frankly, she does seem a bit disappointed or embarrassed by where they are living. Talk about cutting back to only the bare necessities. It will be interesting how she will feel when she gets back home. I absolutely think her marriage is temporary (mu’tah) so who knows if she will go back to Kuwait after she returns to the comforts of home.
She's not hiding over 90% of the bedroom. She showed us most of the bed, it's not a queen. That bedroom is tiny. I believe one of them is sleeping on the couch.
Or maybe sleeping elsewhere? This place could be just for Chantal. His computer could be set up there to preserve the idea that he's living there. I didn't see any other evidence of him anywhere.
@@BoingBB I also thought this might be the case. In a previous stream where Flop Era keeps asking for Salah to show himself if he's really in the apartment with Chantal, he can be heard walking before a door opens and he says, "Happy now, Flop Era?" I can't remember where Chantal was sitting during this stream, so he may have stepped out of the bedroom to announce himself, or he may have come down the hall from a separate apartment and entered her front door to prove his existence.
The toilet in the bathroom/shower is no different to some of the disability and aged care places having the toilet in the shower room. I am in Australia and have worked in aged care and disability places, and many have one room for both the toilet and shower. We just dry the floors and any areas that are wet after the residents have a shower, etc. They are designed this way because it can be more of an open space for assisting people who use wheelchairs or hoists, etc. So, their bathroom they have really is not anything new to the western world.
My grandmother stayed at a very nice hotel in Hollywood; her specifically requested bathroom was a wet-room setup like this one. As someone who got around with a wheelchair or a walker, she had a much easier time using the facilities and shower. By contrast, I've stayed in hotels in several Western European cities and they all had the shower stall (or tub with shower attachment) and toilet and sink in the same room like a 'typical' bathroom in the States. Only one had a bidet.
@@SansaCooks I'm subscribed to Finnish 'Queen of Clean' Aurikatariina and most of the Finnish apartments she has cleaned have this bathroom set up with the shower just draining into a floor drain. But they also have the washing machine in the bathroom. Whereas having it in the kitchen like it is here in Salah's apartment, is a UK thing. So to is calling the set up where a shower isn't contained by a cubicle a 'wet room' to make it sound posher than it is! LOL. (Edit) Oh and that's the gas set up we use when glamping, so yeah it does look alarming in a home, but as long as the fittings are all correct, it's going to be safe enough.

I'm sure if I did a tour of my home I would avoid showing people my dirty laundry basket and the drying rack where I hang my clothes to dry in my bedroom. I don't even care if she misrepresented what her living situation would be when she got to Kuwaiti because she probably went on what Salah told her and how was she to know differently. @@SansaCooks These are just old-fashioned types of locks. The lock looks the same on both sides of the door so if you want to lock your bedroom while you are inside it, then you have to use the key on the inside of the door. Then if you want to lock your bedroom while you are gone you use the key on the outside of the door.
@@jpfly66 I don't understand why people think it's so strange, apart from the fact it doesn't have a good finish to it. I live in Ireland and we had locks on all the inside doors, my apartment is only 20 years old, it's no big deal. I also have a wet room but the shower is nowhere near the toilet so it doesn't get wet, also there's a slight incline on the floor to help the water drain away.
I noticed her bed did not have a headboard or a box spring from what I could tell. It seemed to be a single small mattress on the floor, (not to be confused with the trap house floor mattress.) Lol. Those other apartments you showed were wayy nicer imo.
Late here (I discovered your channel just now through my 'recommended', and this video offers the most helpful perspective that I've seen on Kuwaiti ex-pat apartment living!). I find it interesting that, whether dingy like Chantal's or nicer like the teacher's apt, there aren't any wall-mounted pictures or decorations. I've lived in rentals that prohibited hanging of pictures (I chose to do it it anyway, and forfeit my security deposit in order to have a homey atmosphere), but Salah nailed up shelves in the kitchen. Those are still the ugliest tiles I've seen in an apartment, and that horrible window could be covered with a nice fabric. Chantal lived in a largely unfurnished townhouse in Orleans, so she must not care about making things nicer.
Okay. Who keeps ANYTHING with cheese in it unrefrigerated in a box? Who cooks indoors with either Propane OR Butane, NEITHER of which is safe to use INDOORS, particularly in a space with NO WINDOWS? I get that they are probably living within their means (a novelty for Foodles,) but honestly? I'd rather live in a tent, outside, with FRESH air and natural light. I'm not even joking, even though it's not allowed in Kuwait and I would probably be deported. Thanks, Cat for the vid. Cheers! 💖🦘
Thanks for the video! It was done very objectively! By the way… the grout in the bathroom tile would be one of the first things I cleaned, but that’s just my OCD Speaking! ✌🏽
The bidet thing withhose on side? Do you stand up. Or sit and reach down and spray? Dont some bidets have the sprayer built in to the toilet bowl? I never used one and dont think i have ever seen one🤷♂️🤣
In my family we call the sprayer on a hose a skoosher 😂. A bidet to us would be the separate ceramic, kind of toilet shaped basin with an upward facing tap thing on it.
In the grand scheme of things it’s an okay place to live with the exception of no natural light, could they not put something else in the windows that would at least let light through, like frosted glass, and no counter space in the kitchen, where would you prep stuff? On the living room coffee table?
Good point! I suppose you could chop stuff up at the coffee table... the kitchen sink is tiny and I found it interesting that she said he did a bunch of the work himself.
About the shower- I doubt that long showers are done in that area of the world. Water conservation is quite serious in a desert climate. So that kind of setup may not get things as damp as people are assuming.
I complain that I only have a shower and no bath tub in the place I rent. But those open bathroom showers would drive me nuts! I understand that’s normal for many people around the world and that’s fine. But I also know I’m less picky than Chantal so it HAS to drive her nuts too. Sometimes you just wanna soak in a tub! And the gas cooker is pretty common here for camping. I’m sure Salah hooked it up so it’s safe, I wouldn’t trust her doing it 😅
Well, this reaction video is refreshing. I will subscribe if you keep it this wholesome. Also, shout out to the comment section. Very pertinent observations.
I rent a house and use a portable gas stove to cook on because we have an electric stove. I hate cooking on electric stovetop. Most my good cooking I bust out the fire. Its very common in places like Japan, I know.
I have a stove but never use it, apart from the ceramic hob. I bought a halogen oven instead and I love it. My stove is now just a convenient place to store saucepans, etc.
Why not just get a regular tablecloth that can be washed and reused instead of constantly throwing away plastic? Who am I kidding? She thought the washer was the dryer.🤦♀️🤦♀️
She kept putting off apt reveal wanted to buy more stuff for apt..Month of Dec is up highest paid month on UA-cam..Her views are way down on her main income channel while trying to run her secondary channel the couples channel that views haven't taken off like FB wants them to since shes actually in Kawait with Salad seems to be using religion as a theatrical arc moment.
Her standard of living sure decreased for having two incomes. I guess as his own boss his 'business' isn't doing as well as she'd like us to believe. Seems a teacher lives better than a business owner and a UA-cam "STAR". Huh, who knew. She. probably didn't want us to see the twin beds.
To be fair those apartments are super super cheap like max a 1000 usd a month! which is below average. Let me know if you wish to see a tour for an average apartment!
Gas stove + tube are common in every Asia households, even in middle to high end apartment . In high end apartment usually has 2 kitchen, dry n wet . Electric for dry kitchen stove n gas tube for wet kitchen stove ( usually maid who cook here ) because many of Asian food will taste good only if you use gas tube since it can create more massive heat . Surprise for you dear westerners, most people here think gas from.pipe is more dangerous . But i love how westerners habit to give opinion base on their limited knowledge is still exist lol
Thank you so much for commenting--I agree, we all have different backgrounds and ideas about what is "normal." For example, where I live, you can buy propane tanks at hardware stores or 7-11. They are always kept outside, in locked metal cages, with big signs warning you to not bring gas tanks indoors. I think Americans are taught that they are highly flammable and dangerous.
What is a “front door area” as opposed to “the front door”? It’s gives the impression that it’s a self contained flat inside a house or a shared situation. Those who live in a purpose built flat do not call their front door a front door area. It’s the front door.
Call me crazy 🤣🤣🤣 however...why would you put a key lock on the outside of a bathroom door to lock someone in???When I'm in there I want the lock on the other side of the door!! Not some key lock that someone can lock and UNLOCK from the OUTSIDE!! What the heck!!!!
It’s a cute apartment and since she refurnished, it’s actually very pretty. Plus, she has a gorgeous view of the sea. She could have a very nice life with her husband if he never made anymore mistakes and she lost a bit of weight and got healthy. Only time will tell, but at least she’s trying to live normally and not all wild like before. I’m sure her husband knows how to install the gas. He’s from there after all.
I 100% believe that Salah DOESN'T live with Chantel.. You can tell Salah gets GROSSED out with Chantel.. So I REALLY DON'T believe he's SLEEPING or having $ex with her..
There are few things that feel as gross to me as a 'wet' dump. The foggy bathroom mirror, the dampness in the air, something about it makes me feel unclean. If that makes any sense. I always 'go' before I shower, or wait till the bathroom has reasonably dried after my husband showers. And that's in a bathroom with a 'regular' shower set-up.
I don't know if I should laugh or cry.😂 🤔 😓 This must be a horrible culture shock for her. She has surrendered her life, independence and lifestyle for WHAT? Do you think she is running towards an "Extraction from Kuwait " arc? Wouldn't that be dramatic!
It will be interesting to see if she will be as keen to return to Kuwait as she says she is. Once back home I wouldn't be at all surprised if she found some excuse not to go back.
The gas in those containers is so called liquefied petroleum gas. It's not as dangerous as so called "regular gas" as in some pipe lines. It's more stable and there's a few safety systems readily installed in the containers, so it's quite impossible to blow up any by just using it the way it's supposed to be used. In order to have an accident with these type of gas containers (an explosion or something similar) there needs to be a large house fire or ammunition that hits and breaks the container.
From my own research, I’ve found out that Salah being from Syria (even tho Chantal lies about this bc it’s VERY clear from his 2011 FB that his ‘Home’ is Dara Syria) it means he IS A REFUGEE. That status can NEVER unfortunately change. Therefore the ONLY living option to him is refugee housing. If u look into this, the Kuwaiti’s will NOT even live NEAR refugees. I don’t agree with it & think it unfair however it’s just the REALITY of how these ppl r treated in Kuwait. And yes, I did extensive research. So it makes sense 🤷🏽♀️
An other reactor took a deep look into how the apartment is designed. Her conclusion was that the bathroom is a shared one. Considering how the walls are situated there is no space for that bathroom in the apartment. The bathroom floor looks very dirty in all the grouts, etc... No toothbrushes, no towels... The "kitchen" is a total hazard.
There would be much less commentary on her living conditions if she hadn’t consistently gone after those of reactors for the past few years. You reap what you sow.
Mteah nothing personal on that side of the bedroom except the twin bed, I mean she showed one corner of the bed trying to convince us it's a double, haha What strikes me is how it doesn't look like anyone just moved in there. It doesn't have that "just moved" look, everything looks like someone has lived there for years except the couch maybe. So many bathroom bottles, half finished soap, the spices. Dunno, just looks different to me.

There is nothing personal in this apartment and they have almost zero storage. Where are the books, magazines, photos, Knick-knacks, mementos etc.? He’s almost 30. Wouldn’t he have some of these things? It just feels very impersonal, cold and industrial.
I got the same feeling. Doesn't everyone have a cup with pens, scissors, etc. On a desk somewhere? A little stack of books?
@@SansaCooks Exactly! All the little things!
He probably rented the place out for a couple of months and neither of them really live there. They're just living in it while she's visiting.
You would think with such a higher standard of living the apartment would be luxurious.
The window in the living room does have an outside view, but it opens onto an internal space for airflow. Kind of like a square building with a void in the middle. All the apartments on that side would have windows that see into other apartments.
As for washer/drier in the kitchen, that's common in the UK as well.
Thank you for chiming in!
Yeah, I can't imagine not being able to open any windows to the outside.
That kitchen does not appear to have been a kitchen all along. The sink is so shallow and the stove thing was basically an ad on. I wonder if this place was split up from a larger apartment into 2 smaller units.
I think these are like bachelor apartments... never really meant for people who really cook. It's interesting!
Those are good points!!! Didn't think of the computer placement.
And remember, this apartment is an UPGRADE from Salah's original rooming house with shared bath and kitchen....
I just can't imagine using it indoors.
When I've been on holiday in Turkey the gas stove has had the bottle in the kitchen cupboard under or next to the cooker. Works well.
That's the type of online discussion I'm hoping to foster--people chiming in when they've seen something the rest of us haven't yet.
This is my opinions because of the current apartment-
the sudden move to the apartment
and none of his previous stuff in that new apartment and that all my research says that it would’ve been quite the paper work undertaking to get both her papers from Canada (months worth of work and wait time) and his papers in order as a Syrian.
You bring up some really good points. I wonder about how all of his stuff would fit out of view too.
There were very heavy dumbells in the corner of the room next to the tv. I highly doubt that is foodie the one who is using them lmaoooo
Chantal put her washer and dryer in the restroom/Shower.. Kind of DANGEROUS in my opinion.. Now Chantel can Shower and wash clothes at the Same time..

@@SansaCooks Perhaps. My guess is that this may have been a larger community building that has been further re-subdivided a number of times to maximize density.
I have lived in apartments that had windows to the comunal building stairs, in that case technically it went to the outside but I preferred it closed since plenty of people walked there
@@deniseconealfinal9471 interesting! I've only seen that in office buildings.

The way she talked about Salah having his own place and a great job made it sound like she was moving on up. It was paradise. It will be interesting how she will feel when she gets back home. I absolutely think her marriage is temporary (mu’tah) so who knows if she will go back to Kuwait after she returns to the comforts of home.

@@TheyForgotMySalad I thought the same thing!!!! I remember that!
Thank you for the clarification! Makes sense in an assisted living scenario for sure.
In Japan the toilet isn’t in with the shower, but asides from that is a big room with a floor drain. And the toilet is basically just in a closet.
LOL. In the grand scheme of things it’s an okay place to live with the exception of no natural light, could they not put something else in the windows that would at least let light through, like frosted glass, and no counter space in the kitchen, where would you prep stuff?

Gas stove + tube are common in every Asia households, even in middle to high end apartment . In high end apartment usually has 2 kitchen, dry n wet .

There are few things that feel as gross to me as a 'wet' dump. The foggy bathroom mirror, the dampness in the air, something about it makes me feel unclean. If that makes any sense.
Oh good! Thank you for clarifying! When an American sees a tank like that, we assume it's propane.

That's very interesting, thank you! As a tourist, could Chantal not rent a 3-month Airbnb? I really wish she would clarify all this.
Innnnnteresting! That's also an awful lot of toiletries on the rack!
@@SansaCooks Yup, there are...
I also thought it looked liked a shared bathroom... Gross. Toilet in the shower?!! That would be an absolute no from me.
There would be much less commentary on her living conditions if she hadn’t consistently gone after those of reactors for the past few years. You reap what you sow.
I think the 2-month delay in showing her apartment contributed as well...
Shes essentially living in a closet. I guess they lied to each other
Mteah nothing personal on that side of the bedroom except the twin bed, I mean she showed one corner of the bed trying to convince us it's a double, haha What strikes me is how it doesn't look like anyone just moved in there. It doesn't have that "just moved" look, everything looks like someone has lived there for years except the couch maybe. So many bathroom bottles, half finished soap, the spices. Dunno, just looks different to me.
Just FYI a lot of third world countries use the same gas set up. Rarely has anyone ever died. That happens more in the states
Good to know, thank you! The labels on propane where I am are so dramatic, I have aways been scared to connect one to our grill.
So it looks like Foodie maybe watching your videos because now their new apartment looks almost like the one at the end.... And she says she doesn't watch reaction channels😅
She watches all of us, I'm sure.
Uhm Oh no...not the bathroom 🤣 giving Me sex and the city vibes when they ride that train and there's a shower over the toilet 🤣🤣
I forgot that scene!!! 😆😆😆
Apparently the air fryer didn’t make it?
I think it's there somewhere.
I think it’s at Salah’s place. His keyboard too
@@jmm.654 His keyboard was there on a lower shelf.
It all looks so.....temporary
That's a good term for it. Slapdash also comes to mind.
Looks like we both had the same curiosities
Her explanations almost always leave me with more questions.
Even the way she says croissant is annoying 😂
Same with 'bidet'. They are both French words and the emphasis should be on the first syllable, not the last. So many people get it wrong.
I've been watching Amy Rebecca's videos since foodie moved there. The night she went to an illegal party soundeed scary!
That story was craaaaaaaazy!
I don't understand why it's a "modesty" concern to show a bedroom that you've cleaned and made the bed for. Unless of course, it's filthy and cluttered
And with just moving in, how cluttered could it be?
The place is pretty clean and those burners cook very well.
I agree, gas burners cook great. In the States, we don't have indoor gas tanks like this. Ours are outdoor propane tanks.
