I trust an elected government in a representative democracy a lot more than some random bloke with a weapon. But what does that have to do with balisongs?
+XxX_M1CH43L_ BOI_XxX Legal to own in the US in many places. Some places still outlaw carry of them. Texas just recently legalized the carry of butterfly knives and switchblades back in like 2013
These are illegal the same reason a certain firearm is illegal because some cupcake in society deems it unnecessary or somehow more dangerous than other designs of knives yet that's patently false. It's just a knife no more or less dangerous than any other bladed weapons out there.
So lets clarify a few things here. This knife is not "illegal" at all. These knives can easily be purchased, owned and sold in almost any state of the US. With certain permits dagger bladed versions can even be legally concealed and carried. Illegal in most people's understanding means = You cannot legally own, sell , manufacture, carry for protection, pick your teeth with it....this kind of knife, period. That is not the case even remotely with the Balisong or gravity knives or switchblades. At least in America.
Turtle Muffinz yes actually alot for instance its illegal ti carry ballisongs nit to own infact any double edged blade is illegal to carry and any blade over 5 and 1/2 inches is illegal to carry as fir guns we have the same regulations as every other state minus the liberal ones like california for example with guns we are subject to the federal laws just as everyone else with knives we are rather strict
Brandon Callahan Yeah but even if it is legal, don't carry one in New York State. Most cops aren't aware of that. You would win the court case, but for the hassle.....It's best to leave it at home.
"In the state of Oklahoma, it’s legal to own dirks, daggers or other stabbing knives, Bowies, switchblades, gravity knives, balisongs and stilettos. Basically, it’s legal to own any type of knife in this state."Thank God I live in Oklahoma. lol
They are legal in a lot of states. Hawaii and Texas are the only two that i can find with a strict ban. Kansas, New York, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, and Wisconsin all have additional laws regarding butterfly knife but don;t have them blanket banned.
Balisongs and switchblades became legal to own and carry in Texas in 2013. On September 1, 2017, all knives became legal to own and carry, with certain locations (like schools, hospitals, places of worship, and courthouses) being restricted to knives with blades of 5 1/2 inches or less.
To anyone who cares; If you can legally own a real Bali, do not waste money on a fake trainer knife. Save your money up for a good real balisong, and simply put masking tape along the edge when you are practicing. Works great.
The balisong is illegal because people are scared of it. Canada's reason is because it's to fast for opening. I've always wanted a real one. I have a trainer but I don't take it any where because it's useless. If I had a real one it would be everywhere with me.
AllPartOfThePlan100 Hmmm... :/ Well I found mine at Comic Con. The one in Winnipeg, it was 30 dollars and can be converted to have an actual knife blade on it. But I would say, knife stores. Like Cabela's, Whole Sale Sports, basically hunting stores. If you can't find them there, I would suggest looking for small knife businesses.
Rewatching the entire catalogue again... Just want to thank you for contributing to overcoming my fear of blades, and transforming it into respect for a venerable tool and weapon. 🙏🏼
I have an RFID one just like it. Its a gun safe disguised as a shelf. He obviously re-purposed it for blades. Here's a link for the first one I saw when looking it up. www.tacticaltraps.com/hdcompactg/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgtWDBhDZARIsADEKwgOGII90iDNqBICTsc9qL5OFVO35vguYJ8m4_fJJZ0U61u8hC63TxzIaAtSEEALw_wcB
In Poland all knifes, swords, blades, etc. are legal except those that do not look like weapons. For example blades hidden in walking canes or umbrellas are illegal, but you can carry around a big ass knife or a two-hand sword if you desire to.
If you mix balisong and weed use a trainer. I have only a trainer and if I pick it up i can't put it down. It is a total fidget toy. i will but a real balisong when I get proficient enough not to send myself for stitches. Or when I learn to do stitches. I better not hurt my stitching hand.
now look at how kids flip those Balisong, it's just crazy. Dropping the knive behind their backs, all the way up to their necks and extremely fast twirling, rollovers and ladders.
Here in Finland all kinds of blades are legal, because they are considered as tools, not weapons. You're not allowed to carry one in public tho without a valid reason.
Semmoset veitset jotka aukee jousella ei oo laillisia, ja mitä mä oon kuullu niin perhos veitset on laittomia koska ne voi avata melkein yhtä nopeasti kuin jousilla toimivat veitset.
Every single kid I knew (as kids, growing up in the 80's) that had a butterfly knife almost always had mental issues and prone to violence. I grew up around firearms, swords, even explosives, but almost all the people I knew with that stuff was like a normal "good guy". It was something specifically to do with the butterfly knife. The knives are legal where I grew up, just had to be under 6" to carry around. I am pretty sure it was this "image" of these "bad type" of characters and their association with these knives that did the knives in (made illegal), along with kids getting cuts all the time using them (as said in this video). (BTW, I don't know anything about current day and age of people and these knives. I am speaking very specifically about the 1980's in the USA, in the state I lived in, while I was growing up.)
+TacticalBacon Yeah, possibly hurting other people back stabbing. I wouldn't just let him go. At least a little lecture. "Don't do that. You can hurt people." Usually I'm good around with kids, but this guy…
R.I.P The Great Rich Piana I wonder if you think that kid can't tell the difference between a fruit toy and an actual fruit. They're kids, not retarded.
Very nice video as usual. One thing though; the Balisong is NOT illegal in the Philippines. I should know, I live in the Philippines. What IS illegal is the size. It doesn't matter what kind of knife you carry if the blade goes over 5 inches then your in trouble with the law. The part where kuya Doug said the reason for the Balisong being banned in those places is because people were getting stitches for playing with them; makes me wonder how they manage to do that. I mean I learned how to play with Balisongs, like all Filipinos here, no formal "training" per se, just by playing with it while hanging around with my friends. Got a few nicks but no cuts that needs stitches, and the Balisong I practiced on had the traditional hollow ground blade & very sharp. Think of a 5 inch straight razor blade with a sharp point.
I mean, Florida is pretty relaxed on knife laws. you can own and open carry any knife except a ballistic knife. you can conseal any knife with a concealed weapon permit. but without one you can only conseal a "common pocketknife" or a utility blade.
Let's face it. We aren't mad at our government for the whole protection thing about the knives, we only want them because they look cool as fuck. That's why I want one at least. And is there ever such a thing a too easy to conceal? I think not.
good user, m.A.A.d internet I actually think the handle itself looks pretty ugly, but the art, the motion, everything about it is so cool. Handle is just my opinion though.
I'm certain that is not why it's illegal in the UK, well almost any kind of knife is illegal here now but I think this one in particular would be more because of the fact it can be hidden.
Es geht. Im Gegensatz zu unseren Nachbarn (außer den Ösis) haben wir noch liberale Messergesetze. Dennoch, SCHAFFT DEN §42a AB!! Und danach die ganze andere Scheiße.
This is one part i love about AZ. We are aloud to carry any size knife here and conceal is not illegal for any size either. I love carrying my pistol with a concealed fixed blade.
Yeah, but the use of the Butterfly Knife/Balisong as a video game concept was around since Team Fortress Classic, with the use as a backstab weapon with the Spy class.

easy trick I learned to not cut myself is make sure the sharpened edge is away from you! lol but I have seen ppl cut themselves. lol smh n I'm no expert at anything but cutting taters
you cant hurt yourself with a trainer wtf, its just a piece of metal most of the times it doesnt even have any sharp edges the cs:go trainer has one but thats very rare.
via Baadach How many times do you really think you'll find yourself in a genuine knife fight, mate? It's about the art firm and the skill of it, not always the true practicality.
I guess people forget that knives aren't just weapons. In fact, that is a secondary purpose. Knives are mainly tools, used for cutting, food prep, carving, you name it. They have so many uses outside of defence.
In Australia, it’s mainly illegal because it is a 1 handed opening blade. You can cause the same amount of damage as a balisong with a kitchen knife you just bought from the $2 shop.
ok let me tell you, if you carry a balisong or "hand fedora" as i like to call it, in public, no one will respect you. people see carrying crap like this as immature garbage, especially in public
Balisongs originate from the Philippines and are known as butterfly knifes in America because years ago the authentic name was unknown so they called them butterfly knifes. The design came from a French measuring tool bright to the Philippines years ago. The function of a balisong is to distract and intimidate your opponent by the constant motion of the knife. Vision is the sense most closely related to motion and the fast movement of the knife distracts the opponent as well as the sound of the metal which the opponent senses as danger and impacts their ability to stay confident. The balisong has many different actions and flipping forms but in a confrontation the main rollout is used to maintain control over the knife and its deployment. These knifes are a ingenious design allowing the blade to be contained within the handles of the knife and deployed with a quick action of the wrist. The practice of the balisong is a great art and gives hours of enjoyment and self control.
The real reason it's illegal.. because it's just too damn cool.

+Tupu Tati What does that mean? Sorry, i'm spanish :p
+Alonsitis Duff it's a way of saying "America" but for dim witted people
^
+PakaSkittles commie
If i was his friend I would have been like. boy if you jab that knife at me one more time.
Lol, was just thinking that
that nigga just stabbin him while he explaining shit about t
he knife like bOIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII
Basically it's illegal in some places because of emotional nonsense. It is neither more or less dangerous than any other knife.
knife illegal in USA, guns legal in USA
MURICAAA!!!!!! FUCK YEA!!!!!
+XxX_M1CH43L_ BOI_XxX Legal to own in the US in many places. Some places still outlaw carry of them. Texas just recently legalized the carry of butterfly knives and switchblades back in like 2013
+XxX_M1CH43L_ BOI_XxX look up for the logic of FPS games ... on short - the knife is the ultimate weapon
or Romania
+XxX_M1CH43L_ BOI_XxX its because guns have strict regulations thats why you never see any shootings happen but constant stabbings /s
+XxX_M1CH43L_ BOI_XxX well in oregon you can have one but it needs to be open carry.
These are illegal the same reason a certain firearm is illegal because some cupcake in society deems it unnecessary or somehow more dangerous than other designs of knives yet that's patently false. It's just a knife no more or less dangerous than any other bladed weapons out there.
Lol he's just casually like "you open and stab..."
Dj Halfblood fuck you
JhoonOp why are you so salty?
can we take a moment to talk about his hide-a-weapon shelf and how casually he opens that up and picks his weapon out ?? thats freaking awesome !
NOT ANYMORE BITCHES! WOOO! (I'm from Texas btw)
Legendary Amazing is any weapon banned in Texas😂🤣😂
Turtle Muffinz yes actually alot for instance its illegal ti carry ballisongs nit to own infact any double edged blade is illegal to carry and any blade over 5 and 1/2 inches is illegal to carry as fir guns we have the same regulations as every other state minus the liberal ones like california for example with guns we are subject to the federal laws just as everyone else with knives we are rather strict
Im from Texas too. So balisongs are legal now?!?!
i live in oregon i can still own one
I know right (I'm from Texas to!)
SO.... Basically there's no reason that it's illegal. Okay, I'll just keep carrying mine anyway, then.
good luck if you get caught you'll get arrested. wish it wasn't like that tho.
@@theghost7277 yeah
There are several reasons they’re illegal
But what will happen if you got caught with it but just for self defense only....
Ken Llarena you could literally carry a butter knife and have a higher chance of doing damage without hurting yourself
In my youth that was my figit spinner I spent so many hours flipping that thing.
Not illegal to carry one in Minnesota, as long as you have no intent to harm anyone.
But you may carry it for defense right?
Sfswave I think so.
I'm pretty sure in New York States it's legal, but not in the city.
Legal to open carry one in Michigan to.
Brandon Callahan Yeah but even if it is legal, don't carry one in New York State. Most cops aren't aware of that. You would win the court case, but for the hassle.....It's best to leave it at home.
for a few moments I was convinced his hoodie strings were his mustache...I was impressed
lol! Same here.
Legal here in Tennessee aswell
Balisongs and switchblades became legal to own and carry in Texas in 2013. On September 1, 2017, all knives became legal to own and carry, with certain locations (like schools, hospitals, places of worship, and courthouses) being restricted to knives with blades of 5 1/2 inches or less.
What about trench knives?
same in nh
the stuff the title indicates starts at 1:10
"you can use it for every day use"
>cutting wrist motion
>smiles at the camera man
oof
That knife is pretty much a sharp toy for adults.
To anyone who cares; If you can legally own a real Bali, do not waste money on a fake trainer knife. Save your money up for a good real balisong, and simply put masking tape along the edge when you are practicing. Works great.
smart
What I do is just wear Mpact gloves The blade slipped off once and hit my hand but the glove prevented damage.
I agree with Doug that's addictive to use, and it was my fidget spinner growing up.
is it in statrak?
I think is marble fade
+Dweyn joni You've won the internet.
+Ashley “Deimos” Coggan no its so fucking original please... Stop saying such bullshit
Justin LoTamLoi
Wow, original comment m8.
Ashley ‘Deimos’ Coggan am just saying that over 9000 people have made this joke so stop saying bullshit
That fucking hidden door
Those are some badass knives in there
The balisong is illegal because people are scared of it. Canada's reason is because it's to fast for opening. I've always wanted a real one. I have a trainer but I don't take it any where because it's useless. If I had a real one it would be everywhere with me.
I've heard that even the TRAINER version is illegal, 'cuz it looks like the real one, and you can sharpen the blade.. I really want one tho
TheBsoBoy It's not illegal. Most of the trainers blades are made of aluminum and have a bunch of holes drilled into them.
where would you find a trainer butterfly knife in canada?
AllPartOfThePlan100 Hmmm... :/ Well I found mine at Comic Con. The one in Winnipeg, it was 30 dollars and can be converted to have an actual knife blade on it. But I would say, knife stores. Like Cabela's, Whole Sale Sports, basically hunting stores. If you can't find them there, I would suggest looking for small knife businesses.
Alright man, thanks =)
but in conclusion: it will keel
Rewatching the entire catalogue again... Just want to thank you for contributing to overcoming my fear of blades, and transforming it into respect for a venerable tool and weapon.
🙏🏼
Happy to be part of the journey.
*Me watching this 6 years later and watching forged in fire:* DOUG!!!!
Is it Factory New? Or Minimal Wear?
Bruh you got me dead af😂
Declan .HighD Maybe it's Field Tested?
It is StatTrack;)
haha
Vanilla skins dont have a condition.......
"Its illegal here "
Amazon: 👍
Man, your hidden knife compartment is so impressive? Did you make it or buy it?
I have an RFID one just like it. Its a gun safe disguised as a shelf. He obviously re-purposed it for blades. Here's a link for the first one I saw when looking it up. www.tacticaltraps.com/hdcompactg/?gclid=Cj0KCQjwgtWDBhDZARIsADEKwgOGII90iDNqBICTsc9qL5OFVO35vguYJ8m4_fJJZ0U61u8hC63TxzIaAtSEEALw_wcB
Totaly legal in Czech republic.
Lucky.
Szerencsések :)
In Poland all knifes, swords, blades, etc. are legal except those that do not look like weapons. For example blades hidden in walking canes or umbrellas are illegal, but you can carry around a big ass knife or a two-hand sword if you desire to.
darek4488
Crazy...in germany nearly all is illegal what can be used as a weapon.
drh kleinert If you need to buy a kitchen knife do you go to the police station and ask for a permit first?
Not illegal in Colorado m8s. One of the few perks of living here.
Weed
If you mix balisong and weed use a trainer. I have only a trainer and if I pick it up i can't put it down. It is a total fidget toy. i will but a real balisong when I get proficient enough not to send myself for stitches. Or when I learn to do stitches. I better not hurt my stitching hand.
now look at how kids flip those Balisong, it's just crazy. Dropping the knive behind their backs, all the way up to their necks and extremely fast twirling, rollovers and ladders.
pretty much any modern knife with a detent opens way quicker than a balisong, i think its about time for these outdated ass laws to piss off
GN I love the all of the information y'all share! Please keep doing what you do!
Here in Finland all kinds of blades are legal, because they are considered as tools, not weapons. You're not allowed to carry one in public tho without a valid reason.
I am speaking very specifically about the 1980's in the USA, in the state I lived in, while I was growing up.)
last night i saw a kid holding a balisong toy(made out of plastic)and then he rushed to me and stab me in the back luckily it's just a toy
Did you tell him to fuck off, after? Stupid fucking kid.
+TacticalBacon Yeah, possibly hurting other people back stabbing. I wouldn't just let him go. At least a little lecture. "Don't do that. You can hurt people."
Usually I'm good around with kids, but this guy…
R.I.P The Great Rich Piana I wonder if you think that kid can't tell the difference between a fruit toy and an actual fruit.
They're kids, not retarded.
That kid probably plays TF2
Jose Flores im kid and i play csgo
That secret-shelf thingy, is so Awesome...
Seriously! I need one of those.
They are legal where I live. Its pretty rad
Monkeytogaman same
they say its illegal but my friend got one in deployment and he still has it to this day.
They're illegal because they're fully automatic tactical assault knives.
Sarcasm much?
Don't they come with high capacity knife clips too?
Buck Mcgruff Mine came with a red dot.
Mine came with an extended magazine
mine came with a fore grip.
It's not illegal where I live. (Indiana)
วคx same (Minnesota)
Same in Nebraska
Jones?
Punny puns amirite
フムメ what frfr cuz I live in indiana
im in indiana rn
Think of a 5 inch straight razor blade with a sharp point.
yes i agree on that man .
Benchmade 51 morpho, still think the handles are.ugly? ;)
Your username is great
+good user, m.A.A.d internet Great, now I got this song stuck in my head again
niiice.Dude What song?
Not illegal where I live. I'm getting one for Christmas.
It's perfectly legal in Dust II
Balisong is by far my favorite knife.
I'm certain that is not why it's illegal in the UK, well almost any kind of knife is illegal here now but I think this one in particular would be more because of the fact it can be hidden.
As well as the fact that the blade is enormous.
Many knives can be concealed easily.
Kenbergison
True that. An ordinary knife is also more efficient when drawn out compared to having to do flippy fancy stuff just to open a knife.
is it legal on valve?
If Gaben is rich enough then yes
Living in Germany is hard..
nein
KieranFretwell oh doch
living in a 3rd world country is hard... living in germany can sometimes be uncomfortable because we dont get what we want but it is not hard
This is one part i love about AZ. We are aloud to carry any size knife here and conceal is not illegal for any size either. I love carrying my pistol with a concealed fixed blade.
Balisong originated from Philippines, and are available to CS:GO
Yeah, but the use of the Butterfly Knife/Balisong as a video game concept was around since Team Fortress Classic, with the use as a backstab weapon with the Spy class.
+NoviKey yeah but I can get a balisong in real life, cheaper than in game
+Dank Memes But it's illegal, m8.
NoviKey
Illegal?
No one bats an eye about a butterfly knife
+NoviKey Depends on the area.
My 9-year-old son made a butterfly knife out of Lego Technic. 😜
Ryan Macalandag don’t advertise that! His school will put him in jail!
@Leyroy Jenkins No way this is not a bait..
Lmao, same, I just made one today
in 4 days im getting a trainer ima be so happy
3 years later. How was it
1:58 Who would've thought injuring someone took nearly 1 second?
I have every illegal knife in my country 😂
Butterfly knives are illegal because slaves don't deserves to have rights. Oh wait did I misspeak?
+MAXCOBRALAZERFACE You're probably American, a country with no free healthcare, the death penalty, obnoxious prison sentences for minor crime and no right to life which is why the government can kill its own citizens...
+MrcabooseVG I don't think you've ever been to America
CajunRedskin Don't need to go, the internet is a wonderful place and funnily enough there's American on it the share information. One being the HIV suppressant drugs cost $7000 where as if i had, i'd get them for free for the rest of my life.
best comment (y)
Now don't bring up religion! That's a whole different war man! 😂
You can threaten everyone with anything, I could go out with my kitchen knife if I want to. So I think it is a little bit overreacted
I'm surprised baseball bats aren't banned. They're used so often in crimes that I'm shocked it's not classified as a deadly weapon.
While in America they practice for spinning and tricks while the main purpose of balisong or butterfly knife for defense and Kali
easy trick I learned to not cut myself is make sure the sharpened edge is away from you! lol but I have seen ppl cut themselves. lol smh n I'm no expert at anything but cutting taters
Gotta have dem taters.
Gary White Orrrr get a trainer knife for fun?
I never used a trainer, if you place the sharp side away from ur hand it will never cut ypu. I promise. I speak from experience
Unless you're grabbing the bite handle and then you're fucked lol
I don't understand what part is ilegal. You can go on amazon and just buy one.
You can't buy sharpened blades. The ones on Amazon are trainer blades. Meaning you can't stab with them so they can be sold.
afflictedarrow1 Yeah, but still able to stab someone to death. It's a basically a shank.
Alex Randomkat Yeah, cuz dumb people hurt them selves.
Pretty much.
you cant hurt yourself with a trainer wtf, its just a piece of metal most of the times it doesnt even have any sharp edges the cs:go trainer has one but thats very rare.
100% of all of those "balisong tricks" are just for show.
Just like all the fancy and useless nunchaku moves.
Listerine Balisong was used by the Filipinos to Kill the Spaniard by Putting it under their wrists. It's a weapon for assasins
Roy yeah, who's gonna do that in a fast knife fight? Like honestly.
Yea a SOG seal team looks way more dangerous and they sell em at Walmart
via Baadach How many times do you really think you'll find yourself in a genuine knife fight, mate? It's about the art firm and the skill of it, not always the true practicality.
I guess people forget that knives aren't just weapons. In fact, that is a secondary purpose. Knives are mainly tools, used for cutting, food prep, carving, you name it. They have so many uses outside of defence.
In Australia, it’s mainly illegal because it is a 1 handed opening blade. You can cause the same amount of damage as a balisong with a kitchen knife you just bought from the $2 shop.
Why are people stupid enough to not use gloves when using butterfly knives for the first time or any time at all?
Because they make it impossible to flip duh
Because they want to look cool with missing fingers apperantly
Because I use a butterfly knife pen for practice
- instead of a knife in the middle they replace it with pen if anyone didn't know
Tacoloco Thats actually kinda cool tho
LupineGamer Yeah it's pretty neat,
ok let me tell you, if you carry a balisong or "hand fedora" as i like to call it, in public, no one will respect you. people see carrying crap like this as immature garbage, especially in public
+[heat-mon] Do not cross me sir or you will see my rare pepebalisong
+Robert Williams lol you have a fedora on
hes a classy man, he can wear whatever he wants
please tell me HOW carrying a basilong could possibly make you look stupid. stfu
oh trust me, i dont have to tell you how
Rochester New York...Rochester New York....You mean....We actually have a purpose????
Tactical potato thats what I was thinking
Tactical potato eyy im from rochester aswell :D
The practice of the balisong is a great art and gives hours of enjoyment and self control.
i live in germany i have 2 balisongs yea FUCK LAWS
Show them to nobody, the bragging rights are not worth the criminal record.
Is it fn? And stat track?
Isn't that the knife that the spy uses in tf2
Lucas Ramey Yes
Nah the knife the spy uses is called darude sandstorm
