I am very sorry about what happened to you, when they spit in your face, that is not common in Colombia, I guarantee that it was not a Colombian, you must bear in mind that almost three million Venezuelans have arrived in Colombia, and very few of them unfortunately they have come to damage our city, our hospitality and our desire to overcome our own difficulties

Congrats Divert Living!!!! I really liked your video. Bogotá is interesting. I will help you not to miss anything important in one of the most surprising and interesting cities in South America. Located at more than 2600 meters of altitude, the capital and largest city of Colombia is a mixture of modernity and tradition in which you will feel at home thanks to its incredible people who give off good vibes. There are many things to do in Bogotá, such as visiting its incredible museums, such as the Gold Museum or the Botero Museum, trying its delicious cuisine, getting carried away by rhythm and good music, enjoying its street art. It is advisable to use common sense in security matters and as the locals would say «do not give papaya», which consists in not facilitating the work of thieves showing objects of value or being careless. The three traditional dishes that cannot be missed are: Onces Santafereñas: a mid-afternoon snack composed of hot milk chocolate, cheese and some accompaniment such as almojábanas, arepas or yucas bread. Ajiaco: the traditional Bogota soup that is prepared with chicken, different types of potatoes, cob and herbs. It is also accompanied by white rice and avocado. Oblea: a traditional dessert consisting of two biscuit discs together and filled with arequipe, blackberry candy, cheese, milk cream or any other sweet dressing. It is very popular among tourists.
For me I always visit bogota (suba) to see my grandma but there's 1 thing we have to go to the poor part and it's scary cause we saw a person staring at us at night and he was just standing there and we knocked on the door like crazy then he approached us and I saw sumthin but then we got let in
You didn't get the fruit lady's joke (6:00), who couldn't understand anything you said to her, «Me dejó gringa». It's a Colombian saying, literally, «you've just made me ‘gringo’», with the word «gringo/gringa» meaning ‘one who can't undestand what has been told’. Bear in mind that «gringo» is no peyorative term.
i swear, you two are so crazy you could enjoy yourselves on a desert island and find good street food. i'm amazed how well you two always seem to be able to fit in with the locals and enjoy the people. You do have better anger control than i do about that one idiot that spit on you. Bogota is so different from places you've been and i'm, amazed at how you find the best things in any new city. Best part is always watching Ta eat something new. you should be able to patent that look.
Just a recommendation, nobody wears shorts in Bogota, Medellin or the big cities in the mountains of Colombia. If you check your videos, all locas wear jeans or long pants. Only foreigners wear shorts, sandals and outfits as if they were in the beach. Don't do that, everybody will know you are not Colombians and that would make you easy targets for hand pocketing...
Seems as if you guys kinda had a rough start here and there. Saddening that you had to experience such stupidity and disgustingness. Good how you reacted and excited for more of your positive adventures from this beautiful place!
@@DivertLiving There was a time when they offered the service to help people to write letters or important stuff to get some burocratic paperwork done like 50 years ago, but they kept the tradition when the computers and printers arrived. Currently the typewriter service is no longer demanded, however it is still their way to try to get some money along all these years.
The security thing with dogs and the machine guns is more of a remnant from when the country was a mess, 20 years ago there were car bombs exploding all throughout and Colombia was known as kidnappingland, the change in society has been that extreme. As a Colombian, I feel like it's a bit unnecessary now a days specially in Bogotá, kinda of a bit lavish. It's not suggestive of feeling in danger in any way. Also, don't focus so much on the danger part, statistics show that in terms of criminality and murder rate, Bogotá is safer than cities like Chicago or New York city, and like NYC and Chicago, just be street smart and you'll be fine. I mean you were DT which is a bit randown and now is going through a renewal process - 20+ years ago, walking through La Candelaria at night or through Old Downtown was unimaginable. Old downtown and La Candelaria still have a bit of work to be done in order to keep up with areas like the west of the city, Chapinero, Usaquén or even Centro Internacional, which is right beside old downtown and is often grouped with La Candelaria, Old downtown (Centro Tradicional) and Centro Internacional as "Downtown". I suggest exploring more of the city, Bogotá like every great city, is a city of neighborhoods. I can recommend DT, Chapinero, Parque 93, Usaquén pueblo, Chapigay (The Village - Go to theatron), La Macarena, Teusaquillo, go the botanical garden or Park Simon Bolivar. There's no need to only focus on the what feels more "ethnic" or "Colombian" (Whatever that means). Colombia is not that different culturally from the US, no need to reinforce American bigoted bs. There's a lot of beautiful parts of Colombian culture and experience that aren't exactly what I mean by "ethnic", it's the same as if you were to go to Japan or Europe. Just enjoy the country!!!

Haha I loved how you asked for spicy sauce, you were actually saying “itchy”. So for next time, spicy is picante (pee can the), so you could say: salsa picante por favor (hot sauce please). Enjoy your South American trip, I hope you won’t get scammed again. People are usually nice there, but when they’re assholes, man do they excel at it!
The best you can do is making a new friend that speak English. Try Couch Surfing app. It's very useful for getting Shelter for few days and meet up locals. Or if u visit Bucaramanga, Colombia. Do not doubt, you could reach me out, to show the city.

Johan Rodriguez My brother was killed in Colombia ( don’t be fool). The most corrupt
Government among South America. I would not recommend to travel there.//
Im happy you enjoyed it. I hope the few bad people there were didnt ruin it. Sorry about that.
No we had a great time!
08:23 - I am very sorry about what happened to you, when they spit in your face, that is not common in Colombia, I guarantee that it was not a Colombian, you must bear in mind that almost three million Venezuelans have arrived in Colombia, and very few of them unfortunately they have come to damage our city, our hospitality and our desire to overcome our own difficulties
Gotta download DiDi
I think the spit thing is a pick pocket tactic
MAybe it was not sure but they didnt get anything from me
No. we just still have some stupid people in Colombia. Sorry about that
Tell her it's not "BO-GO-T-UH," it's BOG-A-TA.
Ok I tell myself that, thank you 😊
I know...somewhat funny when she says Bogoooota.
why does she say BO-GO-TuHHH ?????
It is her accent and I love the way she says it...lol
Haha I loved how you asked for spicy sauce, you were actually saying “itchy”.
So for next time, spicy is picante (pee can the), so you could say: salsa picante por favor (hot sauce please).
Enjoy your South American trip, I hope you won’t get scammed again. People are usually nice there, but when they’re assholes, man do they excel at it!
my favorite part was 4:02 and 8:30 hahahaha
I''d love to go, but can't speak Spanish and i heard they don't speak a lot of English there.
Either do we but thats ok!
The best you can do is making a new friend that speak English. Try Couch Surfing app. It's very useful for getting Shelter for few days and meet up locals. Or if u visit Bucaramanga, Colombia. Do not doubt, you could reach me out, to show the city.
@@davidjose89 Are you from Colombia?
