And Pocahontas looks the right age-an early teen, 13/15 at most. Seeing as how she was 10 to 12 at the time and John Smith viewed her as a little sister
I was just about to say that. His whole outfit looks more accurate. Although the reason they changed it is probably to make this not resemble true history because of Pocahontas being like 12 and eventually taken prisoner by the English. By doing this they could say they weren’t trying to pretend this was what happened but instead there own depiction of what could have happened in their fantasy world.
I much prefer this Pocahontas and John Smith, she's much more cute, playful and childlike. And John Smith looks more like he would have at the time, not like a Nineties hunk
I honestly love the beginning part instead of “you think I’m an ignorant savage and you’ve been so many places I guess it must be so” it’s “you come from a land full of wonders and you say what we have here you improved on long ago you’ll teach us how to live, but what lessons will you give when it seems there is so much that you don’t know” because they cane here trying to tell them that they can make there lives better and explain this magical place they came from with better houses and equipment yet she says there is still too much you don’t understand to just try and destroy their land that’s why I kinda like this beginning better than the final version
I honestly like the opening lyrics in this version ("you come from a land full of wonders...") over the ones used in the film ("you think i'm an ignorant savage..."). something about the way it's delivered.
I do think I would've preferred these character designs a bit more. Their very expressive and more accurate to history, and have a lot more personality. Although it does make Pocahontas look a little too young. Get rid of Pocahontas' headwear and make her look a little less like Aladdin, and she'd be perfect. The final designs make her and John appear like they have one facial expression throughout the whole film. The final design for John Smith looks too American, I prefer this one much more. The number itself certainly has some Pretty Goofy moments. The final one definitely looks to be more artistically pleasing.
Well historically Pocahontas was a child when the English settlers came to Virginia (New World) they kidnapped brought her to England taught her the English language and she became an ambassador for her people
I feel like this version is more.. Kiddish.. I like the final version better. I think it's more elegant and beautiful. It makes nature seem so magical and amazing. (But in reality, leaves floating through the air don't sparkle. And disney didn't include mosquitoes.) I dunno, it's just my opinion though.
Olivia Li i agree and disagree-this is a bit more kiddish than what was in the end released but i think it works better. Don’t forget, Pocahontas was a child at the time, she was 10/12 years old, and i think the more historically accurate version is where this version of the song came from ^^
@@lexalina132 yeah but when they went historically accurate we got part 2 n you know how that went. So yeah I'm glad Disney decided to go og Disney on the first. Too bad they feel pressured by the media to do fan service on their beloved films most of the time 🤢
@@lexalina132 I don't like it being historically accurate. Because the movie is based on the real story, but it's not supposed to be exactly like it. I prefer the magic they put on the first movie. It makes it beautiful for kids and adults.
This isn't bad, but it doesn't have the same impact as the final version does. Don't get me wrong, Judy Kuhn's voice is still beautiful, but man there are certain parts that clearly needed to be perfected. The most glaring example is towards the end, "You can own the earth and still, all you'll own is earth until you can paint with all the colors of the wind", I mean there is literally no pause or break in there. Also, why the hell did they give John Smith facial hair?
+Kobe Busia because back then, it wouldn't have been strange for a man like John Smith to have facial hair. Actually, it would have been really common for all grown men to have facial hair. I guess they wanted to be a little more accurate, but backed out at the last minute since the John Smith we see in the movie has no facial hair.
@@EditorOfSL well they might have, but actually shaving someone's face would've been much more dangerous than nowadays. If the barber wast careful he could easily slit his own throat. Also i much prefer pocahontas' design here sans the headband. She looks more like a teen or kid as opposed to sexy 20-something. Although it makes the VA's deeper voice sound out of place
This is so weirs and so neat at the same time. The concept srt when singing about cutting down a tree you will never kno-- i lost it it was so funny. Alot of it is very cool tho. Im so glad i found this. Pocahontas is one of my favorite movies
I would have actually preferred them to keep this Pocahontas in the actual movie... You know... Considering how the real Pocahontas was twelve when she may or may not have helped John Smith in his greatly exaggerated adventures. It would have been good to have a younger, childish Pocahontas instead of the stoic supermodel she is in the actual movie. I dunno. It would be really different if this wide-eyed, innocent kid was running around with John Smith and teaching him about the forest. Couldn't it be interesting if John Smith in the movie was portrayed as a greedy asshat, but then comes to appreciate nature because of this kid and how much better she understands nature than him. That could be a real cool and powerful moment.
Considering John Smith and Pocahontas are supposed to fall in love in this fictionalized version of the story, I would say it would have been a decidedly bad idea for Pocahontas to be a 12-year-old girl.
I like how they looked as concept art more. John Smith's facial hair are more accurate, and Pocahontas looks more childish, which is also accurate, because she appeared way older in the final movie than she was in real life. But I know the final version is inaccurate, and It wasn't as successful as The Lion King, but I still like it. I Just think the concept art versions of the characters look better.
The hoop part is so cool! This is more like what their relationship was in real life. (I don't think they actually liked each other in "that way", but eh, I'm not disney)
What I like about this one is that Pocahontas seems to have more personality. I still prefer the version they used, but her expressions and all in this one were more fun to watch...plus the age difference was more accurate
woow. i actually love how john smith almost accurately look like his real life self with that small beard. and pocahontas actually looks like a preteen in appearance. btw, this part in the song "in a circle, in a hoop that never ends" was sung a bit weird, i still preferred the final version of that.
WOW! Thank you so much for the upload. I am really glad they changed #80 with all the animals holding hands in a circle. THe final cut was spoke more strongly.

I'm glad they changed her design. Whites would be even more confused about the diversity of Native looks if she looked like that. Btw, her headband is Northwest Pacific.
Beautiful video! Could you please upload more Pocahontas deleted scenes? I am Greek and in Greece the 10th aniversary edition hasn't been released yet...
Oh I forgot to say that I like the fact to that John in this version, by his expression (0:24 & 0:33) and acting (1:02) look very European compared to Pocahontas. I mean, he try to protect her really drastically (Taking place cause he got a gun) and his expression of angriness because he still think Pocahontas is a savage. Also the song seen to start on the "almost" killed snake that Pocahontas let go that we still can hear in our version (The rattle). It's much more dark than our version. o:
0:40 ok see this? this is a stick. you pick up things with a styick. 0:55-0:58 now this here is a rock and a tree. touch them together and you're like a witch doctor or something. 0:59 OMG its a bear, say hi to the bear. 1:02 oh no don't shoot me! 1:04 no no its ok, its not a Kardashian, I checked Mr. Dracula 1:12-1:16 oh thank you sparing me Mr. White man, heres a cub. 1:17-1:22 oh my god its a werewolf I see one, oh its right there. oh its just a reflection and stuff. dang it, crimanetly. 1:32-1:46 hey you see this? this is a mirage. I look like a mirage, lets be dance boy. hehe you like when I dance don't ya boy? Now get over here, we're gonna jump off a cliff you're so stupid. 1:50-1:57 come on I'll race ya. Oh my god wait up! I can't race a native American, that's racism! 2:01-2:07 hey lets cut to the next scene and pretend this never happened ok, this is a kids film. 2:18-2:28 ok you know what? I really love you right now, but just promise not to tell my father. Why Not? 2:48-2:54 And you never look up into the sky on pride rock, because we have to appreciate pride rock or else we are going to fall of the rock, or should I say be pushed off the rock. hard to tell.

Though it's a problematic film,Pocahontas knows how to roust a positivist with that line 0:06. Why did they have to change it?

I like how Pocahontas ACTUALLY looks her age for once.
I like how Pocahontas ACTUALLY looks her age for once.
I'm glad they changed her design. Whites would be even more confused about the diversity of Native looks if she looked like that. Btw, her headband is Northwest Pacific.
Evening Dim do you mind clarifying about the confusion? :)
This would've made it more historically accurate. Though Pocahontas was not quite a teenager yet.

I LOVE THIS! But I prefer the more sophisticated looking Pocahontas.

It's much more dark than our version. o:
