That is Kim's true voice. She is soft spoken, which I think is hard to believe you would think she would project better or she would not be as nervous but no, that is her.

She as an actress and Samantha as a character were so disrespected by the shows writers and producers, it's no wonder she chose not to return for the new limited series. If she wasn't having sex she was talking about having sex or advising the others on their sex lives. Even when she got cancer, it wasn't written the way she deserved. She did an amazing job with what she was given, but I felt for her even back then. And then the second movie her entire storyline was about going through menopause. That was it. Such a waste of talent. Meanwhile SJP (and I do like her) as one of the producers, got to be the bitch, the joker, the lady, the vamp, the cheater, the jealous wife, the fashionista, the drama queen etc etc and STILL remained the least interesting character of the bunch.

If it hadnt been for The way Kim played Samantha, the show wouldn’t have been so successful. This why the producers literally begged her to take the role back then. Nobody talks when she turned the offer down a few times and let me quote her from this video “the script was handled first to me.... then came back to me after SJP was attached.... we had numerous lunches... “

Kim Catrall is the SOUL of the Sex and the City. Nothing can beat her and no one could replace her.
Her voice is so soothing. I could listen to her for hours.
SJP smiles at her as she speaks, and laughs with her at the things she says. It's such a shame that they wound up not liking each other.
They both did a good job at acting like they liked each other in their roles.
That's because SJP looks like a horse next to Samantha, and Sam is loved by the audience while a lot of them hate Carrie's character.

Do you mean the characters or the actresses ? Because to me it ain't hard : Carrie Bradshaw is the LEAST interesting woman on the show, she's shallow, needy, cheesy and, well, ultimately stupid. She basically does the same mistakes all over again. What a poor image of the "modern" woman that the show seemed to mirror ... To me, the interesting ones were Samantha and Miranda. Those two were actually modern , smart and independant women.
PBFR91 so agree but the one thing I couldn't ever get is why they had her character get w a guy like the Russian, he was way too high maintainance and they were from two different worlds.
I just hate it when she's cheating with Aidan and slept with a married man Big, well... she's clearly in love with him tho..

Samantha Jones' character was what breathed life and spice to the show.
The past few weeks I’ve read, watched and listened to how unfairly Kim Cattrall had been treated by mean girls. I know that feeling all too well. I hope that she still has retained some of that sweetness that comes across in her voice of so long ago. I hope I have. If I have not I will look for it and make it my own again.

Kim Cattrall, you were my favorite part of the series, Samantha's freedom and independence. Her defiant self reliance. You embodied it so perfectly.
There’s some chat in here about the characters and particularly about Carrie and how a lot of people hate her now. I think all the women were archetypes of different types of women and each one of them had very specific strengths and flaws. Samantha was sexually liberated but afraid to be vulnerable. Miranda was career driven and generally quite cold. Charlotte was kind and sweet, but also desperately needy and shallow in terms of her ideal partners. Carrie was free spirited inquisitive and smart, but overthought things and made bad choices in relationships. As the show went on, they each learned from failed relationships and learned from each other so their characters softened and became more open minded and smarter in understanding what types of relationships they actually needed. It makes sense that we might identify with one or two over the other... Charlotte was the one I agreed with the least as she was way too prim and conservative for me, but the show needed all four of them so women (and men) could see the patterns in their own relationships and maybe learn a thing or two about what they are doing wrong.

Graphic Jack THIS! I hate how everyone hate carrie, but, all 4 women were needed. They all showed that all women are different and are not alike. Each had their flaws. But as a group, they made up for that. Completely agree with everything you said. It would be boring if all 4 of them were alike.
I love Carrie an all the different women; without all the four of them there would be no show, they're complementary. Those who "hate" Carrie and merely see her as a supposed "reflection of the modern woman" I think see the show a bit flat. Mistakes are necessary and those who have lived know.
Beautifully put, not only were they needed for the show to have such broad spectrum but for us all to see the relationship we had with these characters. We were able to see a little of ourselves in all of them. ♥️ I’ve always loved Carrie and always will.

Samantha was the most innovative character. She was honest, their are people in our society who don’t want children or a traditional spouse, this character was ahead of her time and I would be more interested in her story as a single “ person,” living the next stage of her life and how she navigates it. The reason the reboot is so overly dramatic is because at this stage your relationship hinges on maintenance and work is boring so Miranda becomes a lesbian and Big gets killed off, Charlotte will remain static as the normalcy barometer.
New show is also dramatic because people today are more class aware, theres more coversation about class privilege and more of kill the rich narrative and internet is full of comics making parody of white rich people, while charlotte, miranda and carrie are now the epitome of rich white folks living their first world problems and making drama around things most people find irrelevant and irritating.
They were middle class women in the original series and they were relatable, now they are old white rich landlords
I doubt I'll be watching the reboot. Kim's character, Samantha, was my favorite thing about the show. Knowing what I do about Kim's horrible time on the set, as well as seeing that Instagram post she (rightfully) made toward Sarah Jessica Parker, just turns me off even more from watching a whole new show without my favorite character in it. I just don't really care to watch a show starring people that mistreated their co-star so badly that she refuses to be in the same room as them, even if Kim had not been my favorite actress in the series.

Wonderful woman, I hope she can get all the projects she dreams of these coming years- she deserves it. She seems like a very humble, thoughtful and wise person.
The show was trailblazing, and definitely a special moment in time.
I just don't think I can watch the new show without Kim. I can't imagine what happened for her to feel so hurt or betrayed that she is done. How these women didn't form some sort of bond with characters that are so there for each other, I don't know.

I grew up watching Sex and The City probably too young to watch it at the time. Still it taught me so much about love, friendships, confidence being a strong powerful woman in your own way. How to build your own path! Kim was always the one I really admired! Although I loved them all! This is still classic and I always watch the seasons over every year!

@@ifyouknowyouknow6964 there is an article reshared by Kim that the 3 other actresses bonded and left out Kim. The things got worse when the creator left and just MPK became showrunner. Also, by the end of season 5 she asked to receive producer credit (as SJP) and more money, but they said no so the show ended. The most "recent" clash, that is not even recent is that Kim said NO to continue to play the character when she turned 60 but SJP said that she demanded things but the studio said no, that's why we didn't get a third movie.

I get that there can be "work friends" and those you generally hang with just on a professional level and nothing more outside of that spheres, but still friends to say the least. Maybe to kim's defense, true friends are those you talk and get together on a regular bases.
