Mr.Shue honestly just cares about hinself just a male version of Rachel tbh. He never once listened to what the other Glee kids had to say and when they did he overreacted or shut them down completely
Actually, it means something else related to flamenco music in Spain (and clearly it was what Schuster was refering to) : "el duende", or more accurately, when "alguien tiene duende" (someone has duende) is used when some dancer/singer/musician has an special charisma and power to express via their art their feelings and their soul. As a concept, it originates from the Romanis (gitanos) and their flamenco, the reason why "el duende" is also called "el duende gitano" (The Romaní duende). Understandable that in Latin American countries "duende" only is known to mean "imp", as the musical usage of the word is specific to Spain.
"They all love my performance," Schue says, yet if you look closely at the Glee Club's faces during his performance, several members seem less than impressed. 3:02 Rachel looks uneasy and embarrassed and Quinn looks very judgmental. For a split second at 3:12 we see the Glee Club and several of them don't seem taken at all with the performance. 3:24 Kurt barely claps at all and looks disapproving, 3:26 Puck barely claps either and it's obvious that he found the representation extremely cringey and is showing his distaste. At 3:53, although it's after the performance, Mercedes looks like she's really agreeing with Santana and is waiting for Schue to try and justify himself (and like she's 100 % prepared to see him fail). Now, maybe they just feel uneasy because the performance is way too extra and cringeworthy, but I wonder if some of the students here didn't somehow perceive that this was extremely offensive or at the very least of poor taste. The characters usually look enthusiastic even during Schue's worst performances, so I think that they actually did NOT like the performance at all. Especially given how these particular characters reacted to Santana's performance right before.
See it just annoys me that the parts where they called out Mr schue were actually not nearly as common as they should have been and then they're all like 'oh you're the best teacher ever' like no he's still problematic in so many ways
he said preforming songs by someone “latin or of latin descent” and then proceeded to perform an elvis presley song while dressed as a SPANISH matador 💀
It was virtually understandable. And (as you well know!) I'm not exagerating one bit. Thing is, was done this terribly on purpose, or they thought the actor was speaking a passable spanish? (Hoping the correct answer is A 😬)
I always loved how gracefully she checked Schue about the weird fake Spanish enthusiasm and also I find it interesting how she used her facial expressions when she saw Brittany in the bull costume. I mean it truly showed her disgust and dislike for him being harmful to her characters culture and to make it worse he used someone she loved to do it.
The valentines episode of season 2, when Sanatana was walking down the hall toward the nurses office, is when she became my all time favorite cast member. She didn't put up anything and was only a bitch to those who obviously deserved it...

I love how in the end clip Santana and was like really confused on what was happening and then Mr Shue reacted so she couldn’t understand what he was going to say but then Santana speaks Spanish so she knows what he said 😂😂
He 's a terrible language teacher, all of us who have taken any language course come to know about the culture of the country since its language is derived from that culture (worth the redundancy). P.S: I remember that in a video with many views about Mr. Schue's presentation as a bullfighter, non-Latin people said that Santana was rude and exaggerated for complaining about it; the only thing I saw was a lot of people who haven't had to go through xenophobia and who haven't had their culture trampled on (which Hollywood has done for decades).
Eso es porque nadie habla así, se habrán sacado el término de algún pseudodiccionario. Y creo que me confunde aún más que Ricky no les haya dicho que eso estaba super fuera de lugar. also mr. 👞: **doesn't know the difference between Latin and Spanish culture**
What is latin culture,??? Last time i check all latín american countries are vastly diffrent
@@francoisdaureville323 Spain is the colonizer
I love the fact that Mr. Schue is singing in Spanish to embrace Latin American culture while WEARING A SPANISH BULLFIGHT COSTUME, santana my hero
LITERALLY THATS WHAT I WAS THINKING ABOUT THE ENTIRE TIME 😭all he knows is hispanic specifically spaniard culture not Latin American culture
4:58 this a whole ass mood 😂 santana's facial expressions are meme worthy
A moment of appreciation for Puck and his "oh my god that was fucking awful" clap
Mr.Shue honestly just cares about hinself just a male version of Rachel tbh. He never once listened to what the other Glee kids had to say and when they did he overreacted or shut them down completely
That’s my transitions teacher
I still cant believe she was a side character for like sll of s1-s2
I love how the room was silent and nobody tried to intervene, everybody just listened and took it in.
Finally some appreciation for glees best character 😁
Puck awkwardly clapping after Schue’s performance 😭😂 Santana went off with this drag and I loved her for it
Now I wish Mercedes got to pop off like Santana in Spanish Teacher Eli did but in the Funk episode
Exactly! Rachel had it coming and so did Shuester
im a native spanish speaker and i can confirm that "duende" just means "dwarf". nothing else but "dwarf".
They did her dirty in s1 and s2. They just made her this mean bitch. But she's actually one of the most real characters along with Sue (sometimes)
as she should ✋
Santana: See, you all cheer now but wait til he starts rapping
Mr.Shue: *La CuCaRachAAAaAAAa*
IM DYINGGG
Schue was so ridiculously bigoted during the Spanish episode it hurt, especially because he’s supposed to stand for everything opposite that
At 2:15 Brittanys also giving him the challenging eyes she’s backing her girl up 😭
3:50 even Mercedes knew she was in the right
See it just annoys me that the parts where they called out Mr schue were actually not nearly as common as they should have been and then they're all like 'oh you're the best teacher ever' like no he's still problematic in so many ways
3:35 SHE👏IS👏SPITTING👏FACTS👏
Shue to santana : you’re messing with adult things
Also Shue: doesn’t have many friends his own age 🤣
he said preforming songs by someone “latin or of latin descent” and then proceeded to perform an elvis presley song while dressed as a SPANISH matador 💀
As a latina, hearing Schue talk in "Spanish" gives me a headache.
I dont even speak spanish and could tell it wasnt right
It was virtually understandable. And (as you well know!) I'm not exagerating one bit. Thing is, was done this terribly on purpose, or they thought the actor was speaking a passable spanish? (Hoping the correct answer is A 😬)
Puck sarcastically clapping always gets me
3:26
The way the principal says “William…” really does sound like a disappointed father and I legit got a flashback hearing it
I always loved how gracefully she checked Schue about the weird fake Spanish enthusiasm and also I find it interesting how she used her facial expressions when she saw Brittany in the bull costume. I mean it truly showed her disgust and dislike for him being harmful to her characters culture and to make it worse he used someone she loved to do it.
we did not deserve her, one of the only parts of the show holding it together
Santana's one of the few people who are not afraid to call shuester on his shit
As a Latina when I watched the episode of Schue being a Spanish teacher I felt offended and I was glad Santana spoke up we stan🧡
was anyone else, kinda offended by the whole spanish episode like besides Santana wrecking mr schue. like what
I think that was the point
It was supposed to be offensive!
But there’s definitely a lot of other episodes that are offensive without having a purpose. Glee is...mmm not perfect
“Youre addicted to vest” gets me everytime loll
The first scene was actually Santana's first speaking line in the show! Naya talked about it in her audiobook 💛
The valentines episode of season 2, when Sanatana was walking down the hall toward the nurses office, is when she became my all time favorite cast member. She didn't put up anything and was only a bitch to those who obviously deserved it...
schue was such a creep...
“Why don’t you just dress up as the Taco Bell Chihuahua and bark the theme song to Dora the explore “ LMAO
Mr Shue's methods of teaching Spanish are akin to a Mandarin teacher having students read aloud from a Chinese takeout menu for their oral exam.
CHANGE MY MIND.
“This is my education and it’s not a joke to me, though it certainly seems to be one to you.” Shue’s teaching style in a nutshell.
I love how in the end clip Santana and was like really confused on what was happening and then Mr Shue reacted so she couldn’t understand what he was going to say but then Santana speaks Spanish so she knows what he said 😂😂
anyone realizes DUENDE means G O B L I N
Santana:makes a fair point
Will:But that’s not fAiRrR
"its my job, its my life" "its MY education"
When she said ITS MY EDUCATION
He 's a terrible language teacher, all of us who have taken any language course come to know about the culture of the country since its language is derived from that culture (worth the redundancy).
P.S: I remember that in a video with many views about Mr. Schue's presentation as a bullfighter, non-Latin people said that Santana was rude and exaggerated for complaining about it; the only thing I saw was a lot of people who haven't had to go through xenophobia and who haven't had their culture trampled on (which Hollywood has done for decades).
As a native Spanish speaker I never understood the duende part, like tf it doesn't make any sense 😭😭
Right I always thought it meant goblin/gremlin
It is a term used (very VERY little) in the art academy world, is 100% NOT usually used the way he use it
🌚duende🌚
Sometimes you just want to physically fight with a character, and right now I want that.
Santana is one of the best characters on that show. Rest In Peace Naya. ❤️
That look at the end 😭💀
Sue: I'll make a team of minorties
Shue: WeRe AlL mInOrItIeS
It always bugged me how Mr. Shue called out Santana for complaining about him. 1) He's a grown ass adult in a position of power and she's a teenager. 2) Students need to always feel safe enough to bring up concerns without fear of retaliation by the goddamn teacher.
Shows he's not only a shitty teacher, but a shitty leader as well.
Damn I love that Santana called him out about his Spanish stereotypes
At 1:27 santana was like bitch please stop lying cause im the one that made the complaint so i know that thats the only reason this came up all of a sudden
4:37 I wheez Laughed so hard my grandma woke up!
mr schue makes me so ✨uncomfy✨
