I found this channel while looking for information on the FS 240. Great overview with lots of tips that are easy to miss in the dull text of an owner's manual.
I have a Stihl with the bike handle bar and cannot stand it. Are there any conversion kits available to turn it into a loop trimmer? Or just take the loss, unload it and bend over once again for the right machine?
Ive got 13 acres of heavy woods. I want to clear out everything under 4 inches as i will chip the wood to clean everything up so it looks great. Would you suggest this saw or a comercial thinning saw.
One issue I have with the bicycle handle trimmers is I can't lift the back up where the engine is as I'm using it to reach uneven surfaces. It's getting to where I can't use a loop handle for my carpal tunnel. I have to stop every few minutes because I can't feel anything with my right hand.
Great video! Appreciate it! Question, what’s the deal w break-in period? I think Stihl says something about not running it ‘full load’ for the first 3 tanks. So do I run it at half or 3/4 speed/throttle until I’ve gone through a few tanks if gas?
Keep it on the upper end of the throttle range but make sure you keep it under a load not letting it hit wide-open throttle for long periods of time without it being under a load. The other thing that I’ve been told is to make sure that you vary that throttle periodically.
I really would like to know why certain modles don't have the primer bulb like the fs160 I would really like to know if the fs 250 would be a better buy than the fs 160 I really would appreciate your response brother
Awesome video, I'm finally ready to break that thing out of the shed and get to work! Did you ever cover blades in another video? I'd be interested to hear opinions. I've got some areas to tackle and need to pickup a blade or two.
Seconded. I'm rarely into grass heavier than an FS 91 can handle with string but I do get into brush that a 91 with a blade has trouble with. If I pick up something like the 240, It will be wearing a blade most of the time.
I am not sure if that video has posted yet I did run a comparison on three of our favorite place recently in the blackberries and hopefully that is able to make it to UA-cam soon.
Carl, a couple of suggestions about the video. I’m not sure where the mike is, but it should be on you. For those of us whose hearing has been affected by too many hours with brush trimmers, it was hard to hear.
It cut off too soon. The other thing is, you have a very pretty shop, but I want to see what you’re doing with the FS240. Get a camera person who can focus on the details. Finally, I’d like to see the details of putting various blades/mower heads on the FA240. This is covered very poorly in the user manual.
Thanks for the feedback. The sound is continually something we are working on. I can do a review on different heads and installation soon. Most often I have just my camera on a tripod some close-ups can be challenging

What I want to see if you can turn the bike handle 90 degrees to edge.

Have you felt it with the X-Treem harness?

Do you have a link to a video where you talk about better brush blade options?

When you fitted the brush blade, you should have removed the black part from the shield.
Carl do they still make the fs311 clearing saw? can u do a video on the fs311?
They do still have the FS311. I’ll see what can be done
My FS 240 doesn't have that grease bolt?
