Fun video!!! I've had a Swordman, Edwin 45 for 3 years and the belt that drives the rear roller finally broke . I already had a spare and only took 5 minutes to replace.
This machine has been prettty much problem free.
I hear more and more stories like this from reel customers. The haters don't even own one

I love the Stirling. The main reason I chose it over the Swardman is because of the cartridge system, Ego platform and higher HOC. I probably use the scarifier attachment more than the reel 🤣, the comb look on a lawn is amazing!
It is a fantastic machine. But really in a different class than the Electra. It's a beast

I think I might try to DIY modify my 25" cal trimmer to run on an Ego motor/battery. Good to year yall's input on the Ego handle on the Allett.
I have an in depth review ready to go. Its 20 minutes long!
@@TheNeighborDominator Honestly, I think I'm going to get a Hudson Star 1st before I upgrade to a really fancy electric. This is only my 2nd year of really trying to maintain my lawn. I might try a bentgrass patch next summer.
@LBKewee I've always wanted to try bent grass. I want a little putting green in my back yard. I have a hudson as well. I would try one out if you can before spending that kind of money on a manual to be honest.
@@TheNeighborDominator I ran an 18" Scott's push mower last year. It worked great on my bermuda but was not pleasant when I did tall fescue in the winter. I've done annual ryegrass this year so it should be more manageable.

I have it done. The problem is it is around 25 minutes long . I go over everything with demonstrations. Controls, sound, look, cut, cost analysis for parts and whole machine setup that I have. I'm trying to trim it down but to give a reel comparison you can't have a 10 minute video for machines that cost more than a good used car🤣
@@TheNeighborDominator For sure. Take you time. It's really important 🙏 because most of the YT videos speak about these 2 but no one has the 2 machine as you have.
The Allett Sterling has a split rear roller with a differential - that is why it is easier to turn.
It also has twin motors so the cutter can run at full speed while reducing the drive/walk speed.
You can make any reel mower quieter by increasing the cutter to bottom blade gap. I use a petrol mower so give little thought to noise level, the primary function of a mower is to cut the grass properly.
So much information missed from the video.
How many blades did each mower have ?, the more blades the more noise. 5/6/10 blades are available.
Who the hell would buy a blue lawnmower ?

The allett batteries can charge when spare runs the mower. Once a swardmans run out of juice, you'll have to wait till it charges.
I've cut my lawn many many times on one charge. There is an indicator as well to show battery life. If you can't charge your mowers when your done cutting...you probably shouldn't have one🤣
@TheNeighborDominator I guess if you have a small lawn then a Swardmann is okay I guess. Especially when doing a lawn reno on a decent size lawn, you need swappable batteries. Like I said small lawns it's okay I guess.

The reliability of the Electra are well documented and the battery is internal and questionable if it can be replaced while the allett battery is easily replaced. I have the Liberty 43 with only the basket being a pain in the neck as it is heavy plastic unlike the Sterling series which is mesh and like a gas mower easy to use. I tried to relay my concern to Allett asking why they will not offer a similar mesh design but they claim it will hurt their sales on the Stirling which is a total joke. Two entirely different machines when it comes to function.
I completely agree with them being two different machines. I filmed a comparison video but it is 28 minutes long! I clearly state that these are two different machines
If only we could retrofit the basket from the Stirling 43 to the God awful basket from the Liberty 43.
Now have him change a cartridge or adjust the height of cut…that is painful on the Swardman compared to the Allett.
Yes I agree the cartridge system is better. BUT...Not for $3,000. I am doing a detailed video at the end of season
@@TheNeighborDominator That’s fair…the cost of the Allett is pretty stupid. Hard to say it’s a “residential” mower at that cost. I was so committed to the Ego ecosystem that it made sense for me.
