Thanks guys for another excellent bat rep. Can I make a suggestion about your dice. A dice tray would save you having to move the camera so much and reduce the chances of cocked dice.

Nice game, as always. I love the new turn trasition. I have two rule additions: The Desert Veterans command card ist a formation card. so you only can use it when playinga formation of M10. And the Nebelwerfer uses the Salvo template, not the Artillary template.
Thanks for pointing that out, I wasn't sure regarding the formation card, but now I know. There were some minor mistakes besides the above mentioned, but overall, it was an ok game.
@@onomatopoeia7505 That is wrong. Desert veterans can bu utilised as a support platoon option. Same for dday german command cards such as 116th Greyhound. He is correct about the template.
LFTF, page 17, under "Formation Support".
Q: Can I take a Formation card for a
Support Unit taken as Formation Support from that Formation. As an example, can I take a Motor Platoon as Support for my Grant Armoured Squadron, and use the Guards Motor Company card to make it into a Guards Motor Platoon?
A: Yes you can. Pay the cost for the Formation
card as usual, but only apply the effect to the Unit.

@@Greendevilpaintworks Note that while you could theoretically apply 116th this way, you (probably) do not get negative points benefit from it (so there would be no game reason to do it). Per LFTF: "What happens if the Formation card that I want to use with a Support Unit has a negative cost? If the card has a negative cost (such as the British White Knees card), you do not get a discount since the price is for a whole Formation and you only have a single Unit, so you take the card at a cost of 0 points."

Hi Jon, I do enjoy the way you do your 'Batrep' , as you call them. I would like to suggest one minor addition to the way you do your filming in the initial phase of the battle for those of us who (...unfortunately) think in a 'big picture' way, please. For me, I would have appreciated a big pan from your camera of your whole table in order to get a handle of how the table/terrain is set out/oriented. I suggest this in the spirit of positive feedback. I do appreciate the effort you go to, in order to produce these 'Batreps', which is why I chose to become a patreon.

In this battle SS need more recon units with sdkfz250 , and changing JGpanzer Iv and panthers for PZ IV and stug III for add more numbers (pak 40 out)
The jagdpanzers took one for team, no real way around it. The Paks and 88 were a bit too static for an assault. Could have been replaced with a couple of Tigers I for direct support.
Dear Guys, "Old Hands" rule apply to units from formation. I don't think it can be used for units from support.

At 38:00 you guys split the Sherman machine gun and main gun fire between two separate units. I thought a unit could only fire at one target unit and not split fire between two target units?
Thanks for the question! My interp is from the "declare targets" step of the shooting phase. Targeting is team by team in the unit. It says something to the effect of "Multiple teams can target a single enemy or you can spread out your fire as you wish." I don't see any restrictions that says those targeted teams must all be in the same unit.
You can spread it out. Just think about the secondary weapon rule on the Grant/Lee for instance. You can shoot the tank's 37 mm at another target then it's hullmounted 75 mm. Probably my favourite midwar tank in game. (Ironic seeing it was looked upon less than kindly by many a tanker)

Great report. SS seem to be a lot less of a threat in this game. the hit on 3+ meaning that you must be a pro at maneuver to keep them concealed and behind cover or they are getting smoked. Interesting.....
They do offer a completely different play experience, that's for sure. German players get to feel the Soviet's pain. :)
Isnt the M10s an Open top vehicle in which case the top armour would be 0

Just to clarify, the US M-10's in MW are hit on a '3'. I believe Jake needs to attend a course on die rolling if there are any offered on-line? ;-0. I too played a game with the SS and faired badly. I think they might need to include a regular German D-Day unit in their force list. Which one, haven't picked one out yet.

Hi Dean and thanks for the comment. not sure what part of the battle you are referring to however if a out of command team does not move there is no penalty to shoot.
I just started getting into FoW and have been watching your content. Thanks! Would you be able to share the recipe you use to paint your American tanks? Really like the highlights.
FoW looks like a great game and I really love their new plastic miniatures that have much better detail. The only thing that really bugs me about FoW is how unrealistically vehicles have to be clumped together. It makes it look like a restrictive board game without the visible grid. Just my observation.
Fair enough, of course it's all in how you choose to play the game. If you don't like the packed look you can play with less points on the same size table, or play with infantry companies and fewer tanks. It's all about how you have fun.

If the SS player spearheaded the Pak 40s into the woods using the Pumas. It would have Countered the M10'S.
Visibility is only 6 inches in tall terrain.

You must shoot bombardments smoke first before any other fire, sadly.

@@petepan82 I should also say that direct fire smoke Works a little bit differently. But it still needs to be the first thing that a platoon shoots before any other shooting.
You should have spearheaded Pak 40s or your 88s.
Problem with V4 LW SS in my view: they have the "wrong" kind of teams for Aggressive rating. For infantry, you want teams that are VERY narrow in function and therefore cheap and numerous. US AR works this way, as do Hero (non-Motor) Rifles for Soviets. 3/2 ROF Fearless/Assault3 MG teams are too good at too many things, so you don't get enough stands to offset the inevitable losses and also not get thrown back in assault. Aggressive schrecks are 2 points! Same goes for most AFVs - they are fragile and still not exactly cheap (SS Panzer 4 same price as Careful Achilles), so you still get outnumbered or equaled by stuff like Shermans with Stabilizers, Achilles, FE Churchills, etc., even when those are hit on 4s. Ironically, the one German AFV that could be OK with Aggressive, the Tiger, is still Careful! For AFVs, the ideal Aggressive Unit is both cheap and heavily armored. Case in point - 5 Soviet Churchills for 16 points.
Play regular heer. They are resilient and do most of the time what you want them to do.
Well, these guys don't seem to understand the cards or really like to use them. Making them 9th SS and using 'The Best...' cards gives you that +4 to be hit. Jacob also didn't cover his advance with smoke. If you use stock SS, they are monsters in assault, but the problem is getting there to get in assault.
Sorry I've got no one to play against since this pandemic start, so this is how I play?
Why dont you show your forces in start of the game like many previous games, just reading the army list is not very good as showing the whole armies visually? No need foe reading and any list shoving, just show your whole armies in start.
I also prefer the army on parade shot. It's a lot clearer and I enjoy looking at those beautifully painted models.
