Honestly joey and rachel would have been a good character development but the writers just butchered the storyline with the whole “this is too awkward fiasco”
It was really awkward. I’d rather Rachel not end up with anyone than with Joey. Too much history between Ross and Rachel and I’m not even exaggerating. They even have a child together. It would have been fine if Joey wasn’t Ross’ bestfriend, but he is. But to each on its own.

Hard agree! Joey and Rachel were couples goals up until the writers were pressured into killing off that relationship by the fandom. The "this is awkward because we were friends first" felt very forced. Monica and Chandler had no problem being friends first. (And the "we can't do this to Ross" holds no water unless Ross and Rachel are still in love, otherwise it's just sexist, as if Ross's nostalgia and possessiveness should get to dictate Rachel's future)
