I've noticed in most of your videos that the back of your neck gets sunburnt. Really red. I know I'm not your Mum, but please be sure to use sunscreen and get a legionnaires hat to protect your neck. We would all hate you to have to get skin cancers cut out as you get older. Love your stuff. Say safe ❤

I was going to say the same thing! I didn’t know they had a name, tho’, for some reason I always think of them as Aussie hats…wrongly of course! 😅

His arms too! Some long, loose-fitting sleeves would be helpful there too, of a tightweave linen.

Are you talking about a sunhat with flaps at the back? Legionnaires is what you can get from mulch/top soil

I can’t wait till you get these done. I love that you’re putting this back together. Wish you had more help. It’s got to be hard to dig them up. But thank you for helping them be renamed.

It's fascinating to see the old stones and the names and script styles from so long ago. Most of those names probably haven't been remembered/spoken for generations now, the markers are that old. I was very happy you were able to get a plot map to hopefully help with placement and names in the previous video. Looking forward to the next installment - thanks!

You're making headway, Wade. Such hard work! But you're already making such a difference. ❤

Just mowing the grass and leaving the clippings for 100 years will raise the grade. Fallen leaves as well. So our modern attempts to make it neat can be burying the markers.

@@earnstgenmar13 I think what the mean is though they maintain the property today by mowing and such, they still leave the debris. This along with time is definitely going to bury these markers.

People - if you are watching, DON’T FORGET to give this post a Thumbs Up.
Wade - not only are you remembering the deceased and ensuring that these markers are restored, but you are also preserving the art and craftsmanship that went into grave markers in the 19th century. No laser cutters back then. All the beautiful fonts and illustrations were carved and chiseled by hand. You are preserving history AND Art for future generations. Bless you for doing what you do. Cheers from 🇨🇦

The babies always get me. I had a difficult delivery. Had I had my daughter 100 years ago, at least one of us, if not both would have died in childbirth.

I recognize you are probably overwhelmed with requests, but..I just watched a recent video by YT's 'Mobile Instinct' where he explores a BEAUTIFUL hidden graveyard in New Jersey; where there is a community "trying" to bring it back to former glory. I think it would be a brilliant collaboration. The video is entitled 'The Forest of Graves with an Omnious Past'. I guess I could have attached it, oh well!

You do wonderful work and hard work that I can tell you love and do for free! Your interest and enthusiasm is contagious. Everybody has a calling and task that they find fulfilling. Please stay encouraged!!!

Is there any way of knowing where the actual graves were (or are) located?
PS get yourself a "boonie" hat with all-round your head brim. Thank you for all you do.

Just wondering if Ground Penetrating Radar could help locate graves? Have you ever utilized that technology in your work? During my genealogy research, I found newspaper articles describing where 2 of my ancestors are buried. I have been to the family cemetery and found some of my ancestors, but the two i'm looking for are apparently missing headstones. I will try probing first, but if the headstones are missing, I was thinking of hiring a company that does GPR to help locate the actual graves. Hopefully I can find them.

I wouldn't recommend anybody do this sort of work unless they know what they're doing because they can cause more damage to the stones. You seem to be a true pro and the fact that you're willing to use your knowledge and skill is very touching and appreciated. Thank you.

Ok. I've posted on another of your video's..but. I'm very torn. I've cleaned stones on neglected cemeteries as a cub scout. I honor those willing to make sure those have gone before us are not forgotten. But. As i get older, i know what is in my future. Yeah. I'm scared to death of dying. Thank you for doing what you can to honor our past

So, question, can you drill into base and stone and insert a piece of rebar to give strength? And the ones broken in 3 can you make some kind of steel u that holds both sides so you can re stack them?

I find it sad how many times a child's short lifespan corresponds to the death date of their mother. People don't really get how dangerous pregnancy and childbirth was to a woman not so long ago.

@59tante One complication is all it took. It was up to the husband to decide to save the baby or mother. That's when a C-section would happen without anesthesia.
