I wanted to thank you for fixing the stone. When I saw the name I became very excited, Nathan is my 5 times great uncle on my mother side. Did not know they were Quakers. Thanks again and bless you.
If you think you've been exposed, or possibly exposed, to poison oak or ivy you should add Dawn dish detergent to you evening shower. The "poison" in poison oak and ivy is the oil in the plant's leaf. The Dawn cuts and washes away oil. That can help prevent the irritation and flair ups.
Fun fact. You can pre-oil your skin which will prevent the sap oils from penetrating your skin. Also wd40 or a thin oil will work for rinsing off the oils. It takes an oil to break an oil.
Ha I carry WD40 with me. Clean the tools at the end of the day and spray from time to time as moisture can really get to them…using it on my skin intentionally, well if it works!
Gotta admit that you had me scared for awhile. While you were building up the sides, I was like, "that looks terrible", but the final result looks great! Nice job!
The corner patches you did look more like a "new marble" white. You can artificially antique it by taking some topsoil and making a thin mud and painting it on the new patches. So, you will be trying to stain the new patches; kind of like you tried to remove the topsoil stain from the back of the monument.
As someone who is "somewhat distantly" related to the Koons I thank you sooo very very much for repairing their headstone and all it looks awesome! I'm actually related to the Koons through Hans Kuhn he was from Switzerland, if I remember correctly and he came into this country by the Carolinas. Hans had a different spelling of his last name, of course, but back in those times, not as many people were as literate as they are today so as you might imagine that's why we get different spellings of last names. Anyways, thanks again and I'll definitely be a subscriber now! 😊
you are an unsung hero wether you know it or not. Thank you from the bottom of my heart if you ever come up to Casco Webbs mills maine there is a small cemetary there where my husband and his family lay at rest several stones need to be righted and put back together.
I think you are amazing and you restore my faith in humanity. I was just out, it's dark here and I ran to make sure the lights were on ..on my daughter's grave. Crazy because I know she's not there. It makes me grateful that someone like you cares - when I'm gone and if there's a problem with her head stone I hope there's a good Samaritan like you....thank you From ontario.
Zanfel (purchased at Walmart, Amazon, and many drugstores) removes the Urushiol oil that causes the itchy and blistering rash from poison ivy, sumac, and oak. The Zanfel binds the Urushiol oil that adheres to your skin and removes it. You have about 8 hours after exposure to get it off your skin before it causes the skin rash.
I love that you do this! What a blessing! I also really enjoy the research side of it as well hearing about the person. That would be so neat to have that many generations under one roof! I am interested if the loved ones of stones you have fixed have contacted you? I didn't realize that you pay out of pocket for these repairs!
I've taken so many pictures in that cemetery. It's really difficult in some parts. It's like they just placed graves anywhere, and every place. There are a lot of worn and damaged stones too. If you ever get into the old vaults. There are, at least used to be, stones in them.
Wondering how durable leveling with stones? Does freezing / thawing have severe negative affects or are the draining properties sufficient for long-term success? Great history, gravestones are such a valuable resource. Thank you for your dedication.
Those rusting pins are a common problem in concrete engineering. They call the failure "oxide jacking" because iron oxide (rust) takes up more room than the original metal. The amount of pressure that can be applied is enormous. They actually make a concrete breaking material called "dexpan" that looks like grout but you pour it into holes in concrete slabs and it will shatter them just by expansion. Keep up the great videos and I hope you do another Diresta collab!
Yup exactly that. I refer to it as rust jacking but yeah we see this all over every historic cemetery. It’s a real challenge. And def want to get out to see Jimmy again, we texted the other day.
Just found your channel this afternoon. I think what you do is absolutely amazing. I can’t afford to send funds right now, but know that until i can, I am praying tha t your work is supported.
13:16 funny you would say that, this is the first video of yours I've watch and i build custom cars. so although i cant just give you a car for free, as I'm a 1 man team and have bills i need to pay as well, id be willing to work out a potential deal if you want something like a Smyth Ute built, or a car specially built/modified for your needs
Man, you did beautiful work! Really really beautiful God bless and I hope someone donates to you!🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼💖💖💖💖💖 and I’m sorry you got poison oak. You have to be careful! Because I work in the yard and I keep a picture of my husband’s cousin sent out about the difference between poison ivy and and other stuff what they look like so I keep those pictures with me always.
Hi I’ve very new to your channel and it’s quite interesting the history and stories you’ve uncovered. As for the restoration you’re doing it’s a great job. This particular one is lovely. I had mad idea, when you said about color match and your new addition being lighter, could you use teabag water to tone down the whiteness…told you it’s crazy, but could take off the glare when dried out might. I’ve used this on clay powder mix and had good results.. fantastic finish. 👋 🇬🇧pS toothpaste also removes stains just a thought.
How do you do that job and not know the main poison plants? LOL Your work is amazing. You really honor the people that would have totally been forgotten without you repairs.
only if about each subscriber donated about $.40 to this guy so he can get a new truck and some money for supplies what he needs to fix them tombstones. I think he deserves it. just saying
Turns out that Nathan is my 10th cousin 4 times removed through my father and his mother Abigail. I was blessed not to be allergic to poison oak, ivy or sumac. My brothers just looked at the stuff and they would get it (or so it seemed). My older brother pushed me into some poison ivy as a kid. I had the oils all over me. His mistake was that I ran after him to touch him. He got a bad case of the stuff, and it never bothered me.
I honestly do wish they did use lead wrapped bronze rods to hold the stones together, like the Greeks and Romans did. Bronze corrodes very slowly, and lead wrapped simply doesn't.
You can mix a bit ofviron oxide and water if you want to stain the new stuff to match. It is not a reversable process, however, so start out light. Ive not done it on a gravestone, butbi have done itbon a concrete patchbto make it blend in. Ironnoxide is soldvin powder form as a soul amendment.
Sorry about the poison oak. I'm always oblivious to poison ivy and poison oak and pay the price. 🙄 Glad yours finally cleared up. That was a beautiful stone! And you did an incredible job of restoring it to a reasonable degree. It's safe again and looks like its old self. That was a great fix to return its dignity. Have you considered adding Buy Me a Coffee? It's a way for viewers to make one time donations as well as monthly donations and they only take 5% as opposed to the 9-12% I understand patreon takes. I know I'm loathe to sign up as a member on someone's channel or patreon, and I flatly refuse to use these Thanks where 30% disappears right off the top. I want as much of my money as possible to go to the creator! Just something to consider. I may an outlier here...
I think re-cutting the base of the stone level would have been better looking. It would’ve been been slightly shorter, but I think it would’ve looked better.
This is an amazing project. Do you do this for free ? Because I follow many other people who do this but they do not go beyond what you do. Thank you so much.
I was wondering too. Especially the name of the infill material. The closed caption and transcripts obviously didn't pick it up. Did anyone get the names?
I wanted to thank you for fixing the stone.
When I saw the name I became very excited, Nathan is my 5 times great uncle on my mother side. Did not know they were Quakers.
Thanks again and bless you.
What a coincidence? Just wanted to say I'm sure Nathan would love that his headstone was restored and so beautifully too!
Lol I think we could be related lol!
I'm definitely related to them I'm sure
My grandpa’s first wife is a Koons descendant. Her ancestors lived in Riverton, Iowa.
That’s awesome!
Oh my gosh! What a coincidence!!

@@millennialstonecleaner yep, if you rub against it don’t soap it. Spray the area with wd40 then wipe the area with a rag.
I was going to say that. If you can get to it within an hour, especially, dawn works amazingly!
@@CeruleanTalon1 We keep some Dawn in our shower all spring and summer long.
Gotta admit that you had me scared for awhile. While you were building up the sides, I was like, "that looks terrible", but the final result looks great! Nice job!
😅😅😅 yeah had to trust the process on that one for sure!

You are truly an artist to have been able to repair that stone to look so beautiful
I’m impressed with your work you do - Much Respect ✊
Looks amazing and I like to see the respect with which you work x
What a wonderful job you did on this stone. Thank you for honoring this man!!! Stay safe and God bless!!
I am all about the leveling jack! I have to admit, I wasn't sure about the fill, but it ended up looking fantastic!
That turned out really GREAT! Better than I thought it was going to! Great job!

Thanks!
Beautiful work God Bless
Amazing seeing this process we never would be able to see otherwise 🙏

I just found this site and I just love it! You do amazing work and it’s so respectful. Thank you for doing this.
I could watch another 5 minutes of your completed work. Just to marvel at what a beautiful job you did.
Looks great, Wade! Another job well done, and another story well told!

Very nice job, you have a load of patience.
Excellent, entertaining and informative as usual.

I appreciate hearing the more technical term for it, hadn’t heard it before so thanks for that!
It looks fantastic! Such good craftsmanship!
Wow that’s a great job. Thank you for what you do,the time you take to repair the damages for those who can R.I.P.
outstanding work!

WOW! You are an Artist, Sir! Love your work ❤
I must say that the new level that you have make the stone look more up right then the way you did it before good job.

You are awesome and beautiful work, bless you 💜🙏
The repair looks great.
Your work is phenominal, I only wish I could join you and help.

Wow amazing job...you're a kind hearted artist 😲
There's ann old cemetery in Reily OH that needs someone of your expertise too repair it. It's called the historic Presbyterian cemetery.

Again, you’ve done an awesome job that is great.
I didn't know Quaker history thank you for your education.

Fue un gran trabajo, felicidades por el resultado
Nice job. What were you listening to while working on this project?
Perfect looks good the repair of grebe tank you
Wow looks great. There’s a large car and RV dealership chain in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin wondering same family.
Could you do a more in-depth video on whento, when not to, and how to properly put a pin into a headstone?
Would fiberglass rebar make a good substitute for iron pins? This is used as concrete for added strength.
A flap disc would have been good to finish up the repair to shape it up.
Very good job 👍
Wow great job! Wouldn’t D2 help with the dirt stains?
That turned out great. I have a curiosity question. Could the bottom part of the stone been cut off making a new, larger base?
This is an amazing project. Do you do this for free ? Because I follow many other people who do this but they do not go beyond what you do. Thank you so much.
i have to say what it was you did very good job it looks great
Do you use fiberglass pins?
Get yourself some technu for poison ivy exposure .
Where are you purchasing the poultice and fill material? Thanks!
I was wondering too. Especially the name of the infill material. The closed caption and transcripts obviously didn't pick it up. Did anyone get the names?
Impressive!
I’d almost say if you didn’t know it was repaired you wouldn’t notice it from the front
How would you get the engraving to be legible again?
dude ur freakin amazing ty
Looks like Poison Ivy.
WOW 🎉
Are you using a stainless steel pin?
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Stainless Steel Pins?
Why not just use your gloves hands to apply and mold, smooth the bond material?
Don't you think it needed a REPLACEMENT? 🪦 Where are his grand children?
Wonderful job!
