id love to see the condition of the bottom. sandblasting paint, stripping gelcoat, repairing blisters, on the entire length of a boat this size would cost around $40,000.
That isn't any "blue water" boat, or they would have never designed that forward cockpit like that. One storm in the roaring 40's, and those windows are blown out. Plus, they put those mast climbers all the way up. All those holes drilled make for a weaker mast.
Love it. I'm amazed at the differences between Northern and Southern boats. You see this sort of design in a lot of Dutch sailboats and Northern German boats like Sirus Yachts.
I love the detailed description of all the amenities. I do think we should detail the exact sail area sqft and sailing speed to wind ratio. Also, I want the hull style and ballast weight in the keel. This boat looks to be fitted for bad weather performance but you did not cover that. Safety addins look great.
I'm not sure if any pilothouse motor cruiser is truly a blue water cruiser capable of all conditions.........but I know I would feel so confident on this one with her high and solid rails and huge sidewalks.......this would make me much more confident, in heavy conditions, of leaving the pilothouse to attend to something that absolutely has to be attended to. I'd probably prefer an extra 100 gallons of fuel and just one engine......or just heaps more room to service that one engine. But two is nice and redundancy is beautiful. Love that the V berth is not a v berth....lol......great option having the wet area forward and the berth more centred.....galley probably the best space for no watch crew to have the best sleep in rougher weather!
I agree about Ed engine access ...most important, when and if needed. I think a better layout of galley, and only a starboard path along most out oard path, allowing engine room to extend to rear cabin path.
Nice boat for a 34 year old boat, lots of time on it for the price. The one way in and one way out port side only could be a major problem if she heeled to port in a collision, just my point of view after captaining sail and power boats over 30 yrs
The most beautiful, most functional, most value-for-the-money boat that you have ever featured! The only thing I would do is to convert the dining table in the galley to one that could be lowered for more berthing area. Great video!!!!
the partition between galley and second engine: I can see a 5ft wide mini roll-up garage door - and that would reflect the amount of accessibility you have on the other side. seen the gargantuan galley, you can afford to sacrifice the cupboard space.
Beautiful boat and well thought out. So many features I like. One thing I realized I need is good access to the water from the stern so I can pump up and access kites and wings as well as acces boards and the dingy. Personal preferences

Amazing boat. I didnt catch weather or not thw slip is availble . Im a noob when it comes to boats . But is there financing for boats if its intended to be a liveaboard? Sorry if thats a sill queati9n
If you can only get 7.5 knots with two 80 hp engines at 3200 rpms then it weights a lot more than 45,000 lbs. My Whitby 55 with one 125 hp engine running only 2,200 rpms (out of 3,600 max) will get me 7 knots and we weight 60,000 lbs. It is a beautiful boat though. I am curious how heavy the keel is. Is it bolt on or encapsulated? Is it fin or full keel? How about the Rudder? Spade or skeg hung?
Can't imagine the fire drill that coming-about would cause with the primary winches being located outside the pilot house and no access to the starboard winch except by running around the aft deck.
Given that it is a blue water boat, not a buoy racer, it would be no problem at all. Roll in the jib and genoa, tack the boat, and roll the head sails back out. Easy Peasy.
Nice boat, short on electronics, paper charts is a good hint shore power 220v heater, diesel heat underway,no mention of a/c , personally it’s pricey for 34 yr old boat.
Have you thought of doing some of the older Nautor Swans? Hear me out... The prices of Swans fall with age like the other brands, but their boats just don't age the same. A lot of the older boats are in absolutely extraordinary condition. It is a very high fraction. A Swan 59 is about the same price as a Beneteau 50. It is 15 years older, but still (on average) in tremendously better condition and is a much bigger and more capable offshore (obviously). It was a shocking discovery how good a value these older Swans are.
It's a absolutely beautiful boat but 37 foot moody has four berth and center cockpit mega galley and wonderful boat available for 25.000 buck ,this 58 foot boat 1989 year ?????? Have you seen 50.5 bernetu Clydes for 75.000 2004 year
If I ever build a sailing vessel, the only engine aboard will be a generator to run the electrical system during bad weather. If I decide to have engines that help move it, they'll be outboards so fixing them is a lot easier. Heck, I might use a hot bulb engine off of a Lanz Bulldog tractor so I don't have to have a reverse gear. If it works, it's not stupid.
Having an outboard does make access easier. The downside is having all that weight at the extreme end of the boat, which tends to promote hobby-horsing. If you're designing the boat yourself, you can build in a well somewhere further forward, but then your access problem comes back.
People put engines in boats so that they have steerage way in bad weather, not run the lights. No engine means you can't outrun a storm. Then you die when your drogue breaks.
A boat for all seasons and a great live aboard for a familly traveling the world. The watertight bulkhead doors mean this is a serious monohull sailing boat .. The engine compartment ..would make it a great boat going forward to convert to Hybrid electric drive and make her more efficient and clean.
You're not going to find an electric motor big enough to move a boat of this weight. Plus you'd need 3 tons of batteries to get 200 miles and take 2 weeks to recharge them.
Very limited sleeping arrangements with no privacy. Hopefully, the salon couches convert into beds. That size boat should have an aft cabin. This is a motorsailer with a short sail plan, and short waterline, so she won't sail very fast. A cruiser needs to have a waterline length only a couple feet shorter than her length on deck.
What is never added into these wonderful boat reviews is the simple stuff like cost of moorage, slip, cost to just pull the boat for a hull rehab, or paint, etc. Costs associated with a 58' vessel are fairly steep. Should not be overlooked.
if the cost is different at every yard , that level of detail would take days , do your own research for your area if that's your want ? bit unreasonable to ask someone to do your own responsibility !
Unfortunately price is different for every location so there is no way they could provide any meaningful info. General rule though is price is usually per foot/meter and catamarans cost more especially at a slip.
Remember folks boat is an acronym for bust out another thousand. That being said if you're serious about a 54'er your either a stary eyed noob with alot to learn or an experienced sailor couple who knows their business and is probably upgrading.
Twin engines, if one isn't loud enough. Who doesn't love twice the fuel & oil filters, twice the oil changes, twice props and stuffing box packing. One wave over the bow, and the cockpit windows blow out, and that cheesy door. Looks like a cheap Taiwanese made boat.
Beautiful, incredible quality, heavy cruiser. Not very suitable for warmer climates with no exterior helm position. I don't think I would ever want ONLY an interior helm. I grew up cruising the south coast of England and enjoyed cold wind in my face. Seems like good value at that price as well. Clearly was not used much given the light hours on engines and genset.
@@mrspeigle1 Doubt it - see below. I am not saying this is a bad boat. Quite the contrary. It's just the wrong tool for the job if you want to go some place warm.
@@o4pureh2o Not sure what being in Fiji has to do with evaluating this yacht. Were you on a boat built for a northern climate? There are two tiny windows on each side, plus the hatches. A cockpit with a bimini will be a far more pleasant place to hang out with a tropical breeze. Having been on 8 BVI charters, I am familiar with the challenges of ventilating a boat when it's hot and humid.
@@mikemendes7598 ,I thought the yacht was in BC Canada which has a similar climate to NZ. Our boat is very similar. Fiji is only 30c -35c degrees . Those 3 hatches are more then what we had which was plenty otherwise there was always a hammock or a swim. As with where I thought boat is now the pilot house is a godsend in cooler or inclement weather. We sail from deep in the southern ocean to the tropics. I sit there nice and dry in my tee-shirt and often wonder why people buy yachts and sail them where they have to sit out in all kinds of weather. foul weather gear can be hot to wear as well.
Beautiful. Might be just a tad high for a 33 YO boat, but I am going to brace the wife on this one. I will berth her in Northern Oregon, and use her all summer. How is the bottom? when was she last hauled out?
Why were the engines rebuilt at 512 hrs? Also, all the electronics and batteries need to be replaced. Personally, I see a maintenance nightmare here. And wires everywhere. 🤔
I see two big (dare I say huge) flaws with the pilothouse design. First, there's basically zero outdoor space to enjoy a meal or relax unless you're going to sit on the deck or bring out a folding table and chairs. Second, access to the starboard sheet winch is just silly. Are you really supposed to run out the portside door, run around the back of the pilothouse, sheet in and run back? Makes shorthanded tacking interesting, no?
Not everybody sails around the Caribbean or Florida when you practically live outside. If you sail in cold climate or foul weather regularly you appreciate it.
What is so tough about fetching a couple of folding deck chairs with a small table ? There could be a good reason for keeping the deck clear of fixed furniture at other times.
Fair price, ultimate blue water boat, appreciate redundancy, bow thruster, my favorite boat you have shown...
