  • Video of the complete wash cycle.
Hot temperature setting selected which washes at the incoming hot water temperature; with my boiler heating the tank to about 65c accounting for heat loss in the pipes it measures 52c at the machine.
I have to twiddle the temperature switch which the contacts need cleaning at the start of the cycle and I also select the warm setting for the rinsing.
Manufactured around 1957 at Fisher & Ludlow LTD, Albion Works, Kingsbury Road, Birmingham, Great Britton.
The singel, single speed split-phase induction motor drives the drain pump and wash drum drive unit, the drum drive unit gear box has two speeds, wash speed driving the drum at 56rpm and spin speed at 400rpm, solenoids control the drain valve and the gear shifter on the drive unit. The original water solenoids no longer function properly so I have fitted remote valves in a separate box wired into the machines own electrical circuits so that it work safely and almost authentically.
Water levels are controlled buy a float switch which is mechanically adjusted by the user for different sized loads.
    This model has no heater.
The machine is bolted to the concrete floor as it dose not have suspension like modern machines.
The load consists dark T-shirts mixed dark socks and boxers.
One Persil non-bio liquid tab is used for detergent.
A neighbour popped in during the second rinse to have a look..

Great Machine. I live in redditch which is 10 miles from bromsgove and was after the machine myself . But the ebay seller did not respond to any of my emails so i was very suspicious and did not bid on it in the end. My next door neighbour had the same machine when i was 5 years old. It was bolted down to a concrete plinth in the verander. My mom had a gas boiler and mangle at this time, so I was fasintated by the bendix. Thanks for your video's love them bring back so many memories.

This was my Nan's first washer (we saw it in a museum). I remember her telling me that she was the only one to have a washer at the time in the village she lived in. I remember her telling me it was bolted to the floor and that it was noisy.

What a great video!!!! The machine works a treat and even spun between the rinses which is rare for old machines to do. What do you do if you want to add softener to the final rinse? Thank you for filming.

The Gearbox ,the panels actually have large soundeadning pads on the sides which is amazing for a machine of this age
