Ingrid was 65 years old here. She would pass away 2 years later from the cancer she was fighting here. Hard to believe it's been nearly forty years since her passing.
She looks so great , as always, dispite age and illness. Thank you very much for sharing this . It's a great pleasure to see such a great actress Ingrid Bergman , An extraordinary woman, whit exquisite class and elegance Always smiling positive and kind despite her illness Such an inspiration for all the women who are suffering cancer
She was such an wonderful person. She was strong, beautiful and had such Grace. Even though her health was not that great here, she shows such poise. A true icon.
Many thanks for posting this, never seen this before. On the question of Petter, her first husband, you could see the pain and it never resolved. She had wanted it to be straightened out, before her death but it never was. She was a formidable woman, a great example of courage, of life, of love. She was loved because she inspired love.
What a pity! Bad questions (make up, skin, diet, age children, weight...) for a great, brave, clever and polite woman. She deserved a smarter audience and interviewer.
I agree completely. Most of these women had probably never seen her in a movie or on stage. She was so incredibly intelligent, and gracious, which shows by how she answers such inane questions. No doubt she had to do this show to promote her book. As you said, she deserved (much) better.
Please remember the times. What would you have the audience ask?? Impertinent questions al. la Phil Donahue? To suggest that the audience had never seen her performances, please. That is laughable!
These were different times, movie stars were scarce then, you only saw them on magazines and tv. So seeing her in person might have been overwhelming and exciting.
@@SandySaunders9142 It wasn't a suggestion. These are suburban women whose main concerns were the PTA and talking about their neighbors. To have seen a classic film, let a alone one made abroad (STROMBOLI, etc.) would be beyond them.
@@SandySaunders9142 exactly. Classic films were just beginning to become viewed as a art form during this time. It’s absurd to think this audience would interested in knowing abt the making of “Stromboli”. Was the film even readily available during this time?
Thank you soooo much for posting this wonderful video of Ingrid. She is such an amazing and beautiful person and This is the first I have seen of her actually answering questions from an audience like this. She is a remarkable and one of a kind woman. She looks Magnificent and I am in love with just how frank and to the point she is. Her beauty still is perfectly evident in this video. Thank you again for posting this beautiful interview of Dear Ingrid.
What a class act. Smart, warm, gracious, but also no pushover. Her "I don't want to answer that" was a polite but pointed way of saying the question was just too prurient. Today's stars could learn a lot from watching how Bergman presented herself.
i dont mean to be so off topic but does anyone know a way to log back into an instagram account? I stupidly lost the account password. I would love any help you can offer me.
@Jay Robert thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
At 18:54 it was so obvious that she was embarrassed by the question regarding her relation with Petter Lindström but Donahue insisted on it. I feel so sorry for her.
The younger women in the audience watch the interview a bit skeptical. Then as she reveals her inner beauty and class, the younger women realize that this Lady is a timeless legend.
Been checking what happened to her and it's only @ this writing that she'd long been gone...loved her movie 'Sometime the Runners Stumbles'..she was so beautiful..
She was never an actress she was a NaTURALE & original She just got into or possessed by the character which she was depicting . Many don’t get it She never acted …. What we assume is her action is in fact REAL for her and that’s the reason for her eternal presence in film world
Mis Mr. Phil Donahue show. I didn't agree with some of his guests opinions but overall Mr.Donahue had integrity .He set the bar high and in my humble opinion no other show after his came close to it.
Biggest mistake in this show was asking her about Lindstrom. All the questions that the audiences asked were alright and she was enthusiastic about them. The remarks and questions by the host are not and the very last one is painful to watch. What a careless human being.
Not such a diverse audience. This was 1980. It goes to show that America was divided back then. It's not like Black people didn't watch her films. Strange. Donahue tried to get to personal. She wasn't interested in those extra personal.
Her son dated Princess Caroline in the 70's. I read they were still friends. I was 15 when she passed. I must have been in school when this aired. Does anyone know if any of her grandchildren are acting?

Good for her not answering the Peter Lindstrom question. Stupid question.

I loved that too, she shut it down firmly but politely.

What a great and inspirational woman!
This is incredible 😍 thank you so much for uploading this.
She would have been about 65 here. One of the best actresses of all time.
So she died two years later
Oh my! I loved how she advised living with intention to combat lonliness. I want to do more of that.
I love the way she laughs
Awe Bendito The Elegant lovely Ingrid Bergman, Hollywood actresses at it's best! Rest In Peace🌹👍🍷

She seems very relatable.

Ingrid Bergman was born and died on the same date - August 29, 1915 - August 29, 1982.
❤⚘🕊🙏
Tired...Class Act..Beauty helps..
I sense some awkwardness between Ingrid and Donahue..am I the only one?..
And a mere mortal man could not help falling in love with her.
She pretty and taller girl
She is an icon. Incredibly talented and honest.
Biggest mistake in this show was asking her about Lindstrom. All the questions that the audiences asked were alright and she was enthusiastic about them. The remarks and questions by the host are not and the very last one is painful to watch. What a careless human being.
Age is never a secret, but a value. Of course ✨
Phil Donahue is ass!!!!! I'm sorry she went on that show, trash tv
Class.
Sweden don't have no Karens.
What pathetic questioners. Ingrid Bergman deserved better.
Adjust your tracking please!!!
here she's the beautiful version of Margaret Thatcher !
