I ended up taking out the entire dashboard to get to and properly clean the air duct. There is sooo much gunk and nasty stuff lodged in the crevices that you can't get to by vacuuming the area where the filter is housed. It was by no means an easy job but I love this kinda thing and learned alot about the Legend during the process.
there might still be some mildew in the air duct. You can fix that by spraying "vent & duct cleaner" into the vent from inside the car. Good luck, bro.
make sure all the trims in the dash are properly installed. Moisture can condense under the trim and produce mildew and terrible odor. ( I had this problem in a Dodge Caravan )
God I can’t wait to start posting more content to truly show how easy this is. It’s a 10 min job. To truly clean it you remove the blower motor and that takes a solid 45 mins. But you get all the gunk out of the “system”.
@@MowersNBlowers to take out the factory canon air filter. 3 plastic screws (Lower dash panel) 4 screws on the glove box (detach rear clip behind the glove box) 2-3 screws to remove metal cover (detach 2-4 plugs pending trim level) and pull out filter.
@@MowersNBlowers yes but you said it’s hard and acura did this to make you come to the dealership lol. I was commenting on what your saying to people. But I will say neat vacs you used to clean up
Lol yeah I get all kinds of crazy review products in the mail. I thought it was a pain to simply change the filter, and since it was my first time, it definately didn’t take me 10 mins. More like 30 mins.
Take the filter back out abd spray down the heater core and evaporator with lysol or other bacteria killer and run the heat and ac till dry then do it again and again. There is a product called Frigi Fresh to clean up ac evaporators also ...... it cleans up the aluminum evap core!! Especially that grungy aluminum smell!!
Still very much worth doing.... That old one was clogged with gross crap.... Now you will get much better air flow & HVAC performance..... And... You haven't lived, until you've had to change the cabin air filter in a 97/98 Cadillac Seville STS.... omg... I lost my will to live during that job... But it was my friends, and I was committed, I foolishly told him I could do it, so I had to do it.... Like the NASA Astronauts used to say, you'd rather be dead, than look bad.... hahahahahaha! I got it done, but, whoever designed that, was a really really sick twisted sadist.... GM Trucks are a lot like what you had to do... Except they have this weird habit of, some trucks have it, some don't... So if you DON'T have it, and you WANT it, then you can get a little retrofit kit thing, to add it.... Very strange and annoying.... Great job. You have to feel better about breathing the air that has NOT been passed over gross dead bugs & moldy leaves from 2008.... Just guessing, don't bet your life, but you probably have like, some residual mold, in the ducts themselves.... If you run the AC on high, (and NOT on recirculate, you want to pull fresh air) go outside with a spray bottle, with diluted bleach... Spray a mist over where it takes in air, and watch your misty bleach mix get sucked in... Keep doing that... that will probably help a lot... and in the future, don't let a whole dump truck full of leaves & crap accumulate on that low windshield intake vent area... that is NEVER a good idea..... Probably check your other rides too, and clean that up, BEFORE it becomes a problem....

You might have a water leak. Does it have a sunroof? Lift up the mats and smell the carpets..

So what takes 10 mins?

Yes I’ve heard of that product when I was watching UA-cam videos on the subject, it doesn’t smell anymore.
Good job on that!
Never seen a cabin air fliter black. I usually seen those in white
They hide things to make it hard to get to? Being a bit cynical aren't we? Where would you put a cabin air filter?
As my VW foreman friend said in the comments, it takes him 30 secs to change a cabin air filter because they made it accessible to the owner
The Vacuum is not sucking good
Given it’s size, it’s ok
