This scene was so emotional. The look in their eyes, the tear, lyrics of this poem.. the situation that they're in, their forbidden and secret love instrumented only by their emotions... I'm so in love with this scene, episode.
the meaning of this song is rlly out of this world that's why this is one of my favourite work of emily Dickinson, she never fail to give me the chills
This is a reference to the doubting Apostle Thomas of the bible, who refused to believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ when it was told to him by the other Apsotles. He had to see and feel the wounds inflicted on the cross for himself before he could believe that it was true.
The thing is there is no meaning the only meaning is how you interpret it yourself. For me it meant that the journey i went through in my life was worth it because im now here with 2 jobs 10 amazing friends i dont fight with my dad as much im finally growing up I have everything i could have ever asked for
Hailee is such a great actress, how does she manage to look at her like that? That love and longing in her eyes. It’s breathtaking. And Ella well she’s just amazing as well lol. Wish they dated HAHAHAHA 😂
Ella has an absolutely brilliant voice! I love how she mastered so well the american accent for the show yet when she sings like in this vid, her english accent is definitely prominent!
I was very impressed. This couldn't have been easy for her cause she's English. A foreigner can get used to talking in an American accent but singing in one... That must've been difficult.
Yep. I think she mentioned on one of her past interviews that talking in American accent is different from singing in American accent. I feel like the low/high notes make it also harder to sing.
This song hit me completely different when I saw it the second time. When Sue was singing and she shed a tear and the way Emily looked at her I almost cried.
Split the Lark-and you'll find the Music- Bulb after Bulb, in Silver rolled- Scantily dealt to the Summer Morning Saved for your Ear, when Lutes be old - Loose the Flood-you shall find it patent- Gush after Gush, reserved for you- Scarlet Experiment! Sceptic Thomas! Now, do you doubt that your Bird was True?
Is there a message board for Dickinson? Let’s plan a meet up and pick a place. I remember we did the l word conference in Lancaster Pa severa years back 😍
What is your interpretation of this song, if someone is willing to talk about it? I feel that I can think of it two ways, but am not sure about it. Split the lark as in separate EmiSue and Emily realises where the beauty and love she craves for(as Sue points out later in this scene) lies, in Sue. It could also mean separate Emily from the fame(which is a theme for S02) and only then could she find the music, ie again beauty and meaning and her poetry. The rest of the lines, idk I don't understand them.
It’s about loyalty. Split the lark (cut it in half or wound it to find out what’s inside) you’ll find the music (you’ll see the truth inside, it was loyal) bulb after bulb of silver rolled (a hidden treasure inside, loyalty) Scantily dealt to the summer morning (the music is being dealt out scarcely) Saved for your ear when lutes be old(it’s being saved for you) Loose the flood, you shall find it patent, Gush after gush reserved for you (set free the music and you will find it is clearly yours) Scarlet experiment, sceptic Thomas (splitting the lark to find what’s inside like doubting Thomas touching Christ’s wounds) Now do you doubt your bird is true? (Now that you’ve torn me open and seen what’s inside do you still doubt me?) ❤❤
This poem is so hard to understand, as English is not my first language. I tried to find analysis but it doesn't explain it simply. Is there anyone who can explain? Or any resources.
@@carolinacalle4627 thank you, I thought so. I blamed it on English 😆 i thought Either my English is not advanced enough or my brain just can't comprehend it.
@@maraL_A I'm no expert but I think Sue's saying essentially that while she may look like a happy songbird (larks are known for singing) with all her parties are her new life, inside of her, all her true love and feelings are for Emily only.
Yet this image of a “Flood” and to “Gush” could also refer back to how when you “Split the Lark” (when you cut her open or overly dissect a poem) she will bleed to death. In other words she wants the song to be enjoyed for what it is, and that to look too far into it misses the whole point -- google

X2
Why was sue crying when she was singing?
@@jumpingjellyfish9000 because the emotions was running so deep she couldn't hold it in.
I cant stop watching this sceneeeeee and listening to this song they made
I started crying watching this.
*I mean, I knew she could sing BUT I HAD NOT EXPECTED THIS wtf. I have no words*
EXACTLY I WAS SO SHOCKED
SHES SO TALENTED AND AMAZING
Besides the wlw representation I find this serie to be so masterful and beautiful
Check out "Anna and the Apocalypse". It's a musical film in which Ella Hunt plays the main character.
I wish this poem was longer..... this sound is catchy
Ella’s voice plus Hailee’s acting. Oh please give me more! These two just got THAT chemistry.
The second "Split the larrrkk~~" Ughhhh its so good!
Emily Dickinson wrote these words, it jus shows how incredible of a writer she was that these words are even more capable of beauty
Ella is amazing 💙
Hailee and Ella should do a song together 😉👌
the point is that they might like each other that much but idk that is what I've heard
Their acting is insane. Ella’s single tear and Hailee’s entire reaction.

That was amazing!! I wish Emily could've written a longer poem just for this scene. If only she knew they were gonna make a tv show about her
Find you someone that can serenade your poem to you.
Damn this "Dickinson" team really knows how to leave you craving more...
THE LOVE AND LONGING IN EMILYS EYES WHEN SHES LOOKING AT SUE

I'm so addicted to this song. This scene is so beautiful 💖
That well-timed tear though...wtf...idk how great actors do it!??!
This is just so beautiful, fell in love with the poem and the melody
I love Ella’s voice
Im not the only one that kept rewinding right?🙄
I was very impressed. This couldn't have been easy for her cause she's English. A foreigner can get used to talking in an American accent but singing in one... That must've been difficult.
There are other music artists who are British but can sing English. For example, Adele.
@@melissakomons8498 what are you talking about lol, adele sings in a heavy british accent
That make sense, I can feel the accent in her singing... Like, is not heavy, but I can feel it a bit

When people sing. It's in english.

Bro I got this song recommended on Spotify and I felt like I was floating away. Beautiful voice just wow.
It's so beautiful that every time I watch it, my mouth drops. Their chemistry is so good, I love this series.
Thank you! I LOVE this show! This, this took my breath away. I can’t get enough of this scene.
One of the best scenes in the show
This had Bond song vibes
Split the Lark-and you'll find the Music-
Bulb after Bulb, in Silver rolled-

Saved for your Ear, when Lutes be old -
Loose the Flood-you shall find it patent-
Gush after Gush, reserved for you-

Bulb meaning
this poem is brilliant
Her vibrato is like chocolate syrup😌🥰

If sue would look at me like that, my heart would be raising for sure.
A truly beautiful scene.
I LOVE SUE!!
Na moral, vamos fazer uma petição pra Ella cantar todos os poemas da Emily Dickinson
Agora uma série literalmente poética do começo ao fim: 🥇
That voice omgggg 😍😍😍
For a second there, “i was like oh maybe sue isnt the complete worst” only to be reminded that’s metaphoric Sue 🤦🏻♂️
More like; this is the real Sue and the metaphoric wife is the worst Sue
i love the ending sue though... and i think that‘s the realest sue
im obsessed
I can't explain how that just made me feel
i love both of them!
Eu amei essa cena❤️
Their performance...they belong together

Split the Lark by ED
I was really irritated, because they dubbed this song for every language…and it doesn‘t fit with the lips! Argh!
In this case it's better to fit with the meaning
