Best guitar I've ever owned worth every penny... tried all the vintage once, found the necks too uncomfortably chunky but these new once are just amazing 2015-2016
@@tedseb7726 : Unfortunately i prefer the custom shop 335's tone and i say unfortunately because i own a 335 memphis i bought new in 2015.... Nonetheless mine is a great guitar, flawless and a gorgeous tone but it is quit different from a custom 335. The sales peoples in the store i bought it from were genuine pieces of shit to say the least, i can't even describe it to this day. At the time there might have been about 1000 $ difference between what i paid for mine and the custom shop 1963 reissue and usually a good sells guy can guide in your choices you simply because they're supposed to know a lot about electric guitar models than the average, theses guys didn't know shit and they couldn't have cared less about customers. I would of payed the extra money for a custom shop 335. Now not so much.
I am heading to Jackson MS from Baton Rouge tomorrow to trade a couple of guitars for this. Hopefully I don't get raked over the coals and don't have to pay too much out of pocket. I had an ES335 in High School in 73 and did not realize what I had. 61 now and can't wait to add to the collection.
I have the Flamed Maple Slim Neck version of this guitar and it is a 2016 and it is one of the finest guitars I have ever played .....I have played old ones that do not ring like mine ....the old adage older is always better does not apply to the Memphis made Gibsons !!!
You forgot to mention the giveaway! One unit of this absolute beauty for all who comment and have a dog as a profile picture! Or did I misinterpret something.. Anyhow, nice demo and definitely one of the guitars that I'll need to acquire at some point and time. Thanks for the vid.
dude, Tom Q, a telephone pole with two nails and a string. Tape a magnet in the middle, it's gonna sound great. This guy has an incredibly tasty selection of lines.
Thanks for the review Tom. I bought a lefty brand new, B-Stock, at a big discount price, apparently with a twisted neck, but I haven't found the defect yet!
Do some Gibson 335's have slightly more neck sticking out of the body than others or am I imagining it? There seem to be some that the last marked fret space (21st fret) is in line with the inside line of the cutaways and others seem to have that 21st fret 3-4 mil outside of the body therefore easier to play very high notes. (it seems to me that this guitar has this 21st fret sticking 4 mil out more than some). It is ever so slight and I never noticed it but recently. Is there an offical specs confirmation of this so that one can order confidently the guitar with more neck stick out without having to pick it up and look closely? When looking at photos the angle can be distorted. It is so
The deal with these from CME is that Gibson is closing their Memphis factory and had to get rid of a bunch of their stock as they’re moving to a smaller space with a small warehouse. CME wrote Gibson a check for all of them. They’re all brand new and the quality is the same as with any new Gibson (as in most are perfect, but some will have minor issues, just like any new Gibson). They have a CME warranty instead of a Gibson warranty.
i took advantage of the CME year end and bought my 335 Lightburst. less than $1600 to my door. no issues with finish, workmanship or electronics. just a damned good deal!
The best guitar I ever owned is a Gibson ES-335 . . and conversely the worst guitar I ever owned and for that matter the worst I ever played was a Gibson ES-335. I was making money hand over fist in 2001 and needed a big expensive item for depreciation purposes for my income tax. The only new 335 for sale on the east coast of Australia was a wine red custom shop ES-335 at the Brisbane Musicians' Pro Shop. So I pretty much had to buy that if I wanted a new Gibson ES-335. It had hung on the peg in the shop for over a year and yet the paint was still tacky to the touch. When I got it home and really started pouring over it I noticed file marks on the fingerboard between EVERY fret from the nut right up to the 22nd fret! In addition the frets were so roughly finished that I ended up taking it to my guitar tech to have them finished the way Gibson should have done it. But even the best luthier on the east coast of Australia couldn't make them much better, thanks to Gibson insisting on running the binding over all the fret ends! My Gibson sounded exactly like Alvin Lee's guitar. I was playing a gig at a surf club and during my breaks I had the Alvin Lee compilation album Pure Blues playing through my rig. As I was re-tuning ready to begin the next set I finished tuning and was just noodling around, jamming along with Alvin until the song finished and I couldn't pick the difference between his sound and mine. Evidently neither could the audience, because a group of guys approached me and asked me if that was my album playing during the break!! They all wanted to buy a copy! I play more like Alvin than any of my other heroes, same licks and same rapid fire picking, and I suppose that may have been a reasonable assumption to make. Two things I wish with all my heart that Gibson wouldn't do are: 1. Run the binding over the fret ends, and: 2. *Paint them in nitrocellulose!!!!!* Mind you, it sounded fantastic. The pickups were glorious! What a pity they were fitted into a factory second! That's the problem we have living in Oz. The major manufacturers send us the also-rans, the sloppy seconds. Their best work they save for the American stores and the big European and Japanese markets. Even when it comes to Epiphone, the same is true for them as well. I've bought second hand Epiphones from sellers in the USA and they're a definite cut above some of the examples I've seen locally.
Proud to own this actual guitar! Beautiful looks and sound. Thanks DV247.
I bought mine in Faded Lightburst one month ago... It's GOURGEOUS. I hope it gets old with me :)
Juan Manuel Sosa Padrón Where did you buy it?

I have the exact same same 335 and it's incredible. Great demo.

How does tom play so damn good with such long fingernails on his left hand?
Most of the guitar greats had surprisingly long nails if you see their live videos
One of my fav designs :)
His top 2strings are tuned to c and f....??
Tom plays in 4ths tuning
Worth every penny! ! You get what you pay for
What was he playing into?
Should I buy this or a Suhr Classic Antique ? I know they're two totally different guitars but just wanted to hear everyone's opinion.
You’re going to buy both. That’s what we all think.
I just picked up a lefty model. I think it's a 2015. I wonder if there's any difference between the 2015 model and the 2016 model.
They look the same.
They are 99,9% the same, 2016 and 2015
Very good review bro
I can get a GIBSON MEMPHIS ES 335 new for 1700 bucks is that a good deal? I just can't PICK it out they just send it
Bflatest You looking on reverb? I Just did, and I see they've got them priced like that, but that's almost too good to be true....
I was wondering but Chicago Music Exchange is a real company I bet they have issues with finish or damage

I say 335 not three thirty five, but I also use the word "trash", because I like the way it sounds, especially when Danny devito says it
No. You’re all wrong. It’s a thirty three five. Obviously!
Does anybody know how much this was in 2016 in USD?
