You're completely missing my point. Ben and Michael, and even Cenk to an extent, are not giving enough credence to the exact thing you're pointing out. That the election process being played like entertainment by both campaigns who try so hard to shape these events to their own liking.
The debate was played like a reality TV show by the Trump campaign, and the average American who is normally inattentive to politics will see this and it will reinforce the idea that this election is about electing a personality rather than someone who will try to implement useful policies. And that's the dangerous thing, because if that impression of the elections is legitimized by this debate, then those same inattentive voters CAN be swayed by something as obviously staged as an erupting applause.
Just because YOU might be consciously set in your ideology doesn't mean other people are. Some people don't even realize that they're supporting a candidate who, contrary to how they present themselves, proposes policies that go directly against the expressed views of those voters. And that's the main problem of this entire charade - not that one side is worse than another, but the obfuscation of reality by BOTH sides.
This will backfire- no one like the person who tries to excuse himself by blaming others. The "I was bad, but he was worse!" defense didn't work with our parents, and it work work with the public.

I do not remember Trump trying to 'excuse' himself by blaming others. I do not want to see Trump in office, and I live in a state where it doesn't matter who I vote for, but everyone is kidding themselves with the idea that Hillary is going to run a way with this. I supported bernie, and there was never a race in the dnc for the nomination, it was fixed. Watching the media cover up after Hillary is not helping, and having to go back 11 years for some foolishness while the media covered up an unresponsive Hillary being dragged into her vehicle and thrown in with her shoe left behind....I find it very hard to vote for someone that the media is rigging the election for and I am sure that there are lots of other Bernie supporters where it counts that are turned off by this treatment also.

Jimmy hits the nail on the head: Trump's attack on Hillary by associating her with Bill's actions will not resonate with women voters, and it's the women voters who have the last word in all of this.

I totally disagree with the Young Turks about who "won" this debate. Hillary answered the questions and kept her poise. Trump made outlandish assertions which will easily be fact-checked and proven false. Further, his statement about putting his opponent in jail will resonate across America. Yes, there are certain people within the Republican Party who like this sort of thing. But it was an appalling gaffe and considering his constant dodging of the questions and his weak defense of his taxes and the tapes it will come back to haunt him. In short, I believe Cenk is totally wrong and Trump lost this debate--big time.
Because a guy would never be honest and show you his true feelings in a locker room where he feels comfortable. He kept saying 'it's locker room talk' as if that excused it. The problem wasn't that he said it, but rather the fact it showed his true feelings about women.

Agree, hear you and I know there is a proudness when you are able to acomplish the impossible within your profession. As an engineer I totaly get that. What worries me tough is that she could live with that knowledge, personally this would probably haunt me all my live. And she even does not consider that, because if she did she would tell that to the audience and I think it would have helped her.
