    A few weeks ago I got into a situation that forced me into takin a step back from splitting my firewood.
    My biggest pain was not being able to enjoy swinging the axe and you and your videos have been a blessing during this time. Yesterday I got to swing the axe again and it was brilliant.
    As you have been a blessing to me and to many, I will pray whenever you come into my consciousness that God blesses you to always be able to do what He blessed you to do, pain free and injury free

    nice video buckin nothing better than getting some exercise like that because you can and able it feels great afterwards the only problem us northeastern folk have is there is usually not to much wood to split your way when i was younger we always used a mall and sledge hammer now a little older and wiser i use a gas powered splitter yeah i know tell me I'm cheating lol its still alot of work dropping the trees and getting them home be safe

      I have not ground down a profile on an ax ...YET...(Did some minor sharpening with a grinder years ago pre-Buckin) ⏳ but was planning on using a handheld belt sander on it's back now that I've scrounged a few old axes from the flea market and have many projects to keep me home and busy creating new profiles on old tools.
      Buckin has elevated my desire to finish the jobs that are unfinished but the body has been abused and really starting to slow down physically.

    best way to split firewood. not bending over picking up logs, over and over. very little maintenance, don"t have to listen to a loud ass log splitter, dont have to spend 5 grand to burn firewood. i live in ohio where everything is oak, ash, hickory, locust, elm, and maple. i just love splitting with my axe collection.

    There's a few of us always waiting for the Buckin logs to be in your hands and blasting off with some rockers.
    Your gift of the flow workout is well documented with the splitting ax in your hands (The Wood Bullet)
    And your drumming flow is also documented in some of your 3,000 videos...we anxiously await your next drum destination.
    And of course anyone who hasn't seen the live concert of "The Band from Glad"... look it up.
    Buckin Billy on drums and backup vocals....

    Splitting hardwood is easy, especially when it's cold. I live in northern Minnesota and cut and split most of my firewood in the winter. I will say however, that Elm is miserable! That stuff is what caused me to invest into a two stage splitter.

    So is it the axe, wood's really dried out, or something about the technique or all three that makes this look so easy? I can split with my maul or wedges with enough time but my goodness this is almost a joke it's splitting so well. I was always told a wider axe head was better for splitting but that head looks almost anemic compared to my maul I've got. What am I missing here?

      Probably a bit of everything. I did some splitting a week ago and I can totally understand your sentiments with how easy it looks in video but not so much in your own backyard. I had to deal with wood that had some pretty big knots, and grains that weren't straight, ended out doing some chipping damage on a new fiskars splitting maul from a local hardware store. We live and we learn from experience, I've heard the ol "a bad craftsman blames his tools" so I'd bet Buckin could work with just about any axe. Keep a sharp edge and use proper form not to throw your back out are the real challenges for us uninitiated lol.

    • @jirusjirus9322
      @jirusjirus9322 4 місяці тому +1

      That wood is the perfect scenario...
      Straight grain, well dried (seasoned), debarked... your lucky to get a few pieces of that let alone a whole stack.
      That Sycamore in his neighbor's yard is the norm... make ya get the gas fired splitter.
