    Switched from normal split to full body a few month back all my lifts went up through the roof best part is I'm not as sore as I would be normally killing a single muscle group. Hear me out legs are no longer painfully sore so I can hit them every day and do not fear stairs or sitting down on the toilet after squats lol

    • @kevinworley7096
      @kevinworley7096 2 роки тому +3

      It’s not the split that was your problem if you are that sore. You over did it if you’re that sore. Most people read whatever their fav bodybuilder is and copy that routine asap instead of working up the number of sets listed. However, hitting legs or anything “daily” can set you up for over training and if you aren’t over training working out like that everyday then you aren’t growing.

  • @RNBenM

    To speak in absolutes like "it's ALWAYS better to train fed" undermines my confidence in his expertise. There is a growing body of literature that shows training fasted or fed doesn't show any statistical differences in muscle retention or hypertrophy. Moreover, arguments can be made showing added health benefits training fasted such as improved insulin resistance and enhanced FREE testosterone.
    It seems he may be relying too much on outdated research and isn't keeping up with the times.

    • @munirusama

      Its a similar principle to training on a cut. Theres less energy, less intensity and less volume when youre calorie deficient. Like he said theres a reason no pro bodybuilders are training fasted. I personally tried fasted and not fasted and the difference to me was noticeable. The best workout was in the 8 hr eating window. The fat burning takes place in the 16 hrs off.

    I intermittent fasted (pretty much an 18/4) for 2 years and gained weight... I gained some muscle (already had a lot - - I've been lifting weights since I was a teen), but not enough to account for the weight gain and didn't lose much, if any fat. I'm on the fence about intermittent fasting now... thinking maybe it needs to be done intermittently (not every day) or it messes up my metabolism.

    • @ZoeCuiM
      @ZoeCuiM 2 роки тому +1

      I did 18/4 religiously for 2 or 3 years because I thought it has superior health benefits and also trained the body to use body fat as energy. Now I no longer think so. As long as you eat mostly healthy and within maintenance calories, any eating pattern works.
      For me the down side of eating 18/4 is 1. hard to build muscle and 2. Its easy to do in the summer but gets very hard in the winter. The shiver I get in the morning with no food 😵😵😵

    Wow I respected this guy until just now when, with a straight face, he said he is 4% body fat.
    As a doctor and a bodybuilder he knows that is total bullshit even if one if the methods or machines gave him That number

    i did full body workout for a while and i found that my joints didnt like it at all, especially my knees. Squatting and deadlifting everyday or every other day took a toll. Maybe i had too much volume i dont know.. Had to go back to a total bro split and have to say that for me personally a bro split just works better.

    • @blake923
      @blake923 6 років тому

      Gab Mor that's exactly what I was afraid of. I'm moderately strong and I am still growing good muscle I feel like I'd be putting to much stress on joints if I did squats more than twice a week

    • @MOHIMEDIALLC
      @MOHIMEDIALLC 6 років тому +2

      100% chance you have no idea how technical a proper squat, bench , and deadlift is. Go look up how Ed Coan, Chris Duffin, and other elites teach the lifts on Mark Bell's channel. I am a decent competitor in powerlifter and routinely rewatch these videos because I learn something new every time. Technique in the squat, bench, and deadlift is a 10 year pursuit.

      TBH, full body training is probably the best way of training (naturally) and you certainly don't need to be squatting or deadlifting every other day to make the routine productive. Full Body training is probably best suited to an every other day protocol rotating through a workout A, B and C type structure.Workout A may include Squats 6-8rp range. B could include Leg Press 20+rp range whilst C could be a compound superset of Goblet Squats and Hack Squats for example. Hit all the fiber types, don't hammer the joints.. protein synthesis is being stimulated every 48-hrs (you will find this has studies that suggest this is optimal). 156 opportunities to stimulate growth vs 52 sounds good to me... Maybe Quads are only included in Work Out A and C - find what works..

    I've been doing 20/4 fasts daily for a 2 years without fail. Everything said in this video has been exactly what's happened to me. I do have trouble putting on muscle though. 6% BF 162 lbs 5'11" 40 years old. I can pound down an unlimited amount of food during my feeding period which sucks. I still have to hold back. Yeah I'm ripped but tiny.....UGH. I'd love to build more muscle without the fat but the phatphobia is holding me back. What to do?

    Im confused - here Jim seems to be supporting intermittent fasting and not eating until 4pm. Yet in his 9 Rules of Nutrition he laid out macro protocols that would out someone like me at 225 pounds at like 3375 calories. So is he saying i should eat 3375 calories between 4pm and 10pm when i go to bed???

      It shreds his credibility IMO. He's either bullshitting and knows it, or he's deluded. Neither of those are great things for an authority figure to have when dishing out advice. Personally, I like him. But it did make me go, "hmmm, 4% eh... what else are you wrong about." I don't think he believes he's 4%, I think he's just trying to pull the wool. People who watch this, clearly know what 4% look like... this aint it!

    but no way is he ~4% body fat lol
    im a biomed sci hons grad & a radiographer (using DEXA full body scans) and i can look at his face and see waaaaaaaaay too much fat filling out the cheeks, lips and eye troughs for him to be that low LOL
    just because you can see abs doesnt mean ur super low body fat lol
    only Jeff from that lean muscle-science UA-cam channel is actually around 4%
    :)
