    Thanks a lot for the video!
    The only things that are different nowadays, and it might be important for some viewers:
    -RMS has to be between -23dB and -18dB RMS (not -17 anymore)
    -The start and end silence is not just blank space, it's room tone. It's the silence *of your room*, not an empty artificial silent blank. (I don't know if that's important at all or if that changed since then, but room tone could be important sometimes in VO, compared to just "blank space")

  • @MichaelJVanecekWrites
    @MichaelJVanecekWrites 5 років тому +1

    I've gravitated to NS1 first, then Sibilance, then Dynamics (using gate, compression, and limiter), then EQ. Will fit Loudness in there. It actually worked well as my last'ish step, with another limiter pass just to make sure no peaks went above -3.0db.

  • @mrgpro799

    Can you do another one like this but using Audacity for ACX formatting?

  • @MichaelJVanecekWrites
    @MichaelJVanecekWrites 5 років тому +1

    For the blank space prepending and suffixing your voice track, you can create another track, and record two clips of silence, trimmed to the exact times ACX requires, then just trim off all excess in your voice clip (move the start and end of the clip up against your voice, and then plop those clips up in front and behind the voice track. Makes it easier to "measure" and ensure you have the correct timing. Cannot remember who I got that from but I kinda modified it - they cut and past the actual audio in. I prefer the idea of just plopping in clips in the multi-track part.

    Ok. so my audiobook is finished. I’m now doing opening and closing credits. I decided to put music with it so it’s a multitrack, but it’s coming out as a sesx file. How do I convert that to wave form or do I need to for ACX?

  • @lytnin88
    @lytnin88 3 роки тому +2

    Very informative video, Anthony. One question: In step 5. you say you save the file as 44,100 Hz. But isn't that the sampling rate that with which the audio is converted from analog to digital? If it is, then this could not be changed once the audio file has been processed by Adobe Audition.

    • @AVOsJOURNEY
      @AVOsJOURNEY  3 роки тому

      Yes, once you record the file as 44100 or any other sample rate, you can’t up that sample rate at the end and actually change the recording itself

    When I went over to the VST tab to click on it, it would not do anything. Is this an add on? If so, how do I add it on? If not what am I to do to be able to be able to follow your step of NST to Effects to WAV to Ns1 Mono. Also, my peak Amplitude is at -21.18. How can I bring that much lower? Thank you so much I have been unable to record for days now because I had been on ACX and purchased Adobe to try to figure this out. Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Question for you, Anthony - was there any background noise BEFORE you applied NS1? Or did the Whisper Room completely take that out?

    • @AVOsJOURNEY
      @AVOsJOURNEY  5 років тому +1

      Hello, thanks for the question. Yes, my whisper room is very quiet. I find that if I am doing a voice over that calls for a bit of compression, I have to apply it just to make sure it is all silent, but I do not have to do it.
      When I had my hobo fort (packing blankets, pvc pipe, etc., it was the greatest thing since sliced bread. I only wish I had found it earlier.

      @@AVOsJOURNEY Thanks for the quick reply! When you had your fort, was there background noise before NS1 then?

    • @AVOsJOURNEY
      @AVOsJOURNEY  5 років тому +1

      Yes. I had a bit of background noise. At the time, I could only treat the reverb, not the noise floor, so NS1 was invaluable.
      I like it so much because it suppresses the noise during the actual audio, not just the pauses, and it does not degrade the audio.
