Angela- I want your to know that, thanks to your many tutorials, I uploaded my first test recording to the ACX Audio Lab and IT PASSED! I was so nervous. Thank you for everything. I've been bingeing Audition and Voiceover tutorials for three weeks and I can safely say you are my favorite. I'll be signing up for your mentorship program shortly. Thanks again.
@@jenniferhodgson7640 ACX has a page where you can submit an audio sample. It analyzes the audio then tells you what, if anything, is wrong with it. Removes a lot of guessing!
Thank you for posting this! I am just starting honestly i haven’t even got my set up yet i am just doing samples on my iPhone just to get used to basic editing. But i know i will be watching this over and over when i get to the phase of Adobe audition. Again thank you! My heart goes out to you
Hi Angela. I just want to say a big Thank You for these videos. It’s been a deep desire of mine to work from home using my voice. I have been preparing to submit my first audition as a narrator and have been a bit nervous about it. I have all the sound equipment ready to go and I’ve also built a voice booth in my spare bedrrom. All that’s left is the audition part. I have Adobe Audition although I’ve never used it. Your videos are so helpful and easy to follow. They’ve really encouraged me a lot to go for it! Thank you again! 🙏🤗📚🎙
SUPERB video, Angela! I agree, Tim Tippets is a ninja. Great dude! I especially appreciated seeing how you audition and the AA stack you use. I’m torn about ditching Pro Tools for Audition. This was definitely informative for me. Thanks for, as you said, “paying it forward”. I appreciate your fresh perspective. Keep up the great work!
Hi Angela - I really appreciate your channel and have been learning so much! As I was watching this video I went poking around Audible for this title to see if it was there and found it. Guess who as the narrator? Ha! Very cool and great job!
Ive learned so much from your videos! I appreciate you taking the time and effort to share the information and experience. I do have a question about uploading auditions to ACX. Once they've uploaded and you've added your message - can anyone else who is auditioning see/hear your audition and message? Or is it only visible to the voice over artist and the author?
Hi Angela! Thank you for this video! When I run amplitude statistics in Adobe Audition, I get RMS between -12 and -104. What does this mean and am I not recording it correctly or am I removing too much background noise? I'm having trouble understanding what RMS is. I want to record it right the first time. Thanks!
As I am watching your vid I see you have a slew in your favs list. Are most of those purchsed specialty effects or are they certain ones that you have created for yourself?
Thx for the video. I have been trying to watch many on the web for Audacity. It threw me for a loop when many of the videos were prior to change in equalizer. Frankly I am still trying to figure out little things to...best mic position, best ways to set up my desk to be able to read a script and reach the computer at the same time to edit if I make a mistake etc., and which techniques are best. I tried snapping when I made a mistake, and started the sentence again, messed up again and then when I went to edit it seemed to take forever to find the beginning and end of the error. Grrhh. Have any extra tips for those brand new or insight from any of your beginner's hurtles.
Hello Angela, in one of your videos you mentioned the proper spacing between sentences and paragraphs. Now however, I can't seem to find it. What is the proper spacing in seconds? Thank you! Jeff
Hi Jeff! Spacing isnt really regulated, I guess I was referring to shortening of long pauses or adding more space between paragraphs to give the listener the impression that it is a new paragraph. That sort of thing. A natural narrating pace and breaks. :) Thanks for watching!
Valuable info, thanks for sharing! Any advice on recording audiobooks in Garageband such as settings, mastering, and encoding? Do you recommend using it?
Honestly, I'm not too familiar with GarageBand, I've never used it. But the settings would be similar if not the same, I'm sure from DAW to DAW. The look, feel and features may be different.
I purchased the plugins from Izotope and waves, then you download them to your computer and add them to your DAW. It sounds tedious or daunting but hey, if I can do it, anyone can :)
Thank you so much for your videos! I have been binge-watching them recently, and you've earned a subscriber! I am undergoing vocal training, have built a home recording studio, and am getting ready to create an ACX profile and submit some samples. I also use Adobe Audition, but the idea of editing anything past taking out breaths, deleting mistakes, and normalizing to -3 is INCREDIBLY DAUNTING to me. I do not know how to edit audio very well at all (what is compressing? what is normalizing? what is limiting? how are they different?), and I don't have hundreds of dollars to buy the NS1 Mono, Izotope Mouth De-click, etc. Is there a way I can still narrate audiobooks without being very tech savvy with editing? Are there alternatives in Audition I could use instead of the expensive add-ons, and if so how do I use them and how do I know when I'm at the right levels? I have tried to watch so many tutorials and just none of them are right for someone like me who really doesn't know much about editing and just loves to act... Any advice you could spare would be so greatly appreciated! Thank you! ❤️
Hey Angela! The video is super helpful. Thank you. I also had a question. What is Split Chapters? Is it like sending chp wise audio files or something else. Please help me out.
Hi! In another DAW? Unfortunately, I use Adobe Audition and do not have a video using another DAW. But, there are others on UA-cam that I'm sure would. It's definitely worth a search! ;)
Hi Angela have you always used adobe audition since you started or have you used audacity before? Can you use audacity and be okay with ACX. Adobe audition looks very complicated to use. Also I heard you say something about eliminating background noise. I bought a plug-in from waves called NS1 would that work for adobe audition? So how long does it take for you to get a response from ACX? Thanks for sharing 😁
Hi! I used Audacity for a few months in the beginning but switched to audition . NS1 is a perfect ambient noise remover, I use it with audition. I belive you are asking the response time from the authors regarding an audition? It depends on the authors response time, usually within a day or two.
Hi Angela. I was wondering if Tim Tippets did all of your Adobe Audition Racks. I also RX8 and NS1 etc but I am just starting and haven't decided who I should call to help set those up. I understand the "how" but I want a professional ear to validate the sound for me. Do you recommend Tim or are there others you have spoken to as well? Thanks for the content.
Hi Todd, yes Tim set my Parametric Equalizer for me and helped set up a few shortcuts as well. I would recommend Tim for anything Adobe Audition related, without hesitation. He is an Audition Ninja. ;)

By head and tail you mean the silence time before and after the recording? Is this for the system to establish room tone level?
@@jimwilliams6827 head and tail meaning the beginning and end on the audio file.
Hi Angela, thanks for showing the whole process, very helpful!
Do you have to add a slate when you send an audition through ACX?
Great question! Personally, I don't, I include my name in the file name.
Thanks for the info, it's really helpful! I was wondering, how did you install things like the RX 7 Mouth De-Click module and so on?
