Steve, it is not fair for you to compare Nasi Lemak and Nasi Uduk just because you dont like anchovies. Duh!- That nasi uduk for me looks like regular Nasi campur. Nasi Lemak is called Nasi Lemak because of its coconut rice, complimentary with its Sambal, peanuts, eggs (boiled or fried) and achovies. Without these side dishes, the nasi lemak is not completed!!
Hi Steve! Glad yo tried Nasi Uduk and that you like it more over nasi lemak. I have tried nasi uduk , been to Indonesia many times. It is different from nasik lemak. Maybe the rice is the same as both are cooked in coconut milk. But nasi lemak has a different fragrant if you noticed (with pandan leaves). And our mothers would add sesame seeds to the nasi lemak. If we are to be honest, every single comment here made by Indonesians in support of Nasi Uduk and Malaysians in support of Nasi Lemak are all biased, as taste itself is biased 😉 even more so when the nationalist in you tingles. you may not realize it, you may not admit it, but it's there, especially with all the history between Indonesian and Malaysian netizens fighting on the internet. What really matters is that Steve here enjoys what both countries have to offer. Everybody happy.

Its ok steve to be brutally honest, as a malaysian i find your channel interesting as you are not pretentious like some other channel, although its hurt a lot when you say nasi uduk wins 5 to 1. I will definitely fly to jakarta one day to do my own comparison.
I have tried Nasi Uduk twice, first of all, the fragrance of Nasi Lemak alone win by miles. Second of all, I can’t hardly taste coconut in Nasi Uduk ( both times ) so with that said, Nasi Lemak have a waaaaayyyyy better taste and character. Nasi Uduk to me is almost a plain white rice.
@@mohdshahrizadmohdshapi8632 bruh, you probably got duped, nasi uduk didn't just use coconut milk to cook it, they also put lots of leaves and other spices in it, there is noway it would taste like white plain rice, chances are you ate plain rice or just rice cooked with coconut milk (lots of cheap vendor does this)
the main difference of Nasi lemak and Nasi Uduk (beside of side dishes), is Nasi Uduk have more spices like lemon grass, cardamom, coriander seeds, even some add cloves, and star anise, usually served cold, peanut based sambal, yeah..... at this points Nasi Uduk is technically different type of rice dish, people like comparing because its uses coconut milk and yes Indonesian do have Nasi Lemak, but its more common in malay populated area, like Sumatra, Riau islands, and costal Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), here in Jakarta which is native land of Betawi people, its more common Nasi Uduk version
Ouch..... I didn't know it can be that hurt. Like your wife stabbing thru your heart. Hahahaha....... Enjoy your stay in Indonesia Steve and Ivana. Travel safely.....

Thanks you in different countries. Malaysia - terima kasih. Indonesia - terima kasih. Brunei - terima kasih. Singapore - terima kasih. Why all this country having a same language?
Because Malay language is a national language for all these countries. If you tell Malaysian, Singaporean and Bruneian they all will agree that we use the same language. But tell that to Indonesian and all hell break loose! To the death many of them will adamantly say that Malay language and Indonesian language is not the same! 😂
Nasi uduk is Nasi uduk lah...not a smart thing to compare it to Nasi Lemak. It's just so different. Nasi uduk is Sundanese dish. Nasi Lemak is Malaynese (Melayu). The condiments accompanying both dishes are not the same laah. Mat Salleh and Asian taste buds where got same. Some people are just weird.

Can’t really compare Nasi Uduk and Nasi Lemak. To me personally, Malaysian dish is always fragrant, Nasi Lemak got a better coconut taste and that pandan fragrance. Talking about nasi, Malaysia got the best varieties of em’. I mean, Nasi dagang alone beats all the other rice dish. And then there’s Nasi minyak, nasi hujan panas, nasi kerabu, Nasi tomato to name a few and that’s just local, we can also gets risotto, paella, bryani, japanese rice etc. My experience eating in Indonesia, it’s very seldom that i get a hot, steamy rice, Nasi uduk was served to me cold.

Yes, nasi uduk is usually served cold, it is a common practical breakfast dish so people eat it quickly. I don't know if Indonesian nasi beat yours, but there are nasi kuning, nasi liwet, nasi gila, sego pecel (nasi pecel), sego kucing (nasi kucing), nasi krawu, nasi balap, nasi megono, nasi gandul, and God knows what else.
actually indonesia has many type of nasi also, even in just 1 province you can hv different tastes of nasi. it just that the common ones is the ones many tourists tried which is nasi uduk, nasi padang or nasi kuning when actually we hv nasi lengkoh, nasi campur, nasi liwet, nasi bakar and many others. and as an indonesian but also been eating nasi lemak for about 8yrs when i staying in singapore for me personally prefer nasi uduk.both are different only hv one common ingredient which is cooked with coconut milk.
I normally do not comment on these things but both is not the same thing. Nasi uduk is akin to the Malaysian nasi campur as you can see with the variety of side dishes. This too is available at the Malaysian roadside nasi lemak stalls.
Nasi campur is just plain rice packed with lots of protein plus two types of soup you can choose here in Indonesia, usually sold by Chinese-Indonesian vendors

Semuanya depends on your lidah. 🤷 What really important is enjoy for food.
Don't fight over nasi uduk and nasi lemak.. no 1 food for steve is still rendang that both Indonesia and Malaysia take pride of it
But rendang originally from padang, Sumatera n barat
@@fahrurirudin3738 I don't care much about where the food originated but both the nations have their own version of rendang. savior the dish don't let it diminishes just because of where it is originated
Balance banget ya,kak ivana orang nya kalem, kalo Steve agak rame... Jadi seimbang 🤭
Its totally diff.. Say it loud Ivana 12:15
Mbak is cenourita of java. cause we call all of lady that older than us is Mbak. 😂
Jengkol is addictive, you must becareful. Peanut sauce also use for pecel sayur, it called sambel pecel (vegetable salad, origin of java dish)
Nasi lemak have more deep coconut milk taste compared to nasi uduk
steveee.....there's no sambal belacan in nasi lemak steveee...
nasi uduk XD man you should try soto !
Ajak colab bang
Oh if i visit jakarta i will try this nasi uduk..looks good
We’ll try to learn the recipe, and cook it for you. It’s like nasi lemak but the main differrence is the sambal!
@@JetLagWarriors please cook for me buddy hehe
spicy is good
that's why Indonesia eat sambal, because it's delicious
Hehe pinter bgt mas Steve kasi iklan sbelum gigit jengkol. Ngiler beutt liat jengkolnya walopun blm pernah makan jengkol. Sa ae, bikin pingin.
that egg is Telur Pindang I guess.. it is boiled with herbs
well as indonesian i wanna try nasi lemak, maybe I"ll like it
Nasi lemak is good!! If you enjoy anchovy, or sambal belacan, it’s even better. Hope you can try it one day
You have to experience the good smell of a freshly cook Nasi Lemak in the morning. Nothing beats that.
@@JetLagWarriors not belacan, in Indonesia its called sambal terasi... 😅😅😅
@@JetLagWarriors Sambal nasi lemak and sambal belacan is different...we Don't eat nasi lemak with sambal belacan.
Sambal belacan and sambal nasi lemak are two different entities.
Both in looks and taste.
Some put belacan and some don't in their sambal nasi Lemak.
To add to your confusion sambal belacan is not to be eaten with nasi Lemak . Does not ngam.
Sorry if I sound harsh. Haha
Nasi lemak is still sedap with it's extraordinary flavour 😋😋👍
KL.
Nasi Lemak yumm..wth boiled egg, billies, sambal, peanuts n a fav of mine the beef rendang..had it at Nyonya Kuala Lumpur.
Whaaat nasi leeemak sound like nasty food, unhealthy, horrible 👎👎👎👎👎👎
Haha u said that cause you're malaysian,,nasi lemak,,sorry to be honest it sounds badly and unhealty 😆😆,,ww
Looks good.Love those plates.So nostalgic
1 to 5 eh? Steve... you're threading a dangerous water here dude.
watching this, i want sambal kacang too... but i like our sambal nasi lemak too.. especially the sour+sweet+spicy ones.
16:38 harum manis? same as perlis's ?
Oh boy, I missed this episode. Look at all the comments, lol.
No worries... We are like siblings fight n make up. Only online we squabble in reality we are both the nicest people on the planet. We respect and greet one another with a big big smiles even with big big hugs ( when we do meet).
I think ivana hv different opinion 😜 Nasi Lemak ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

If it's a subject btw indonesian & malaysian, it is best not to compare. You will just create arguments
Its ok steve to be brutally honest, as a malaysian i find your channel interesting as you are not pretentious like some other channel, although its hurt a lot when you say nasi uduk wins 5 to 1. I will definitely fly to jakarta one day to do my own comparison.
🙏🙏🙏so sorry about the rating…And hope you can try it one day!😊Thanks for watching! Just got to be honest…
@@mohdshahrizadmohdshapi8632 bruh, you probably got duped, nasi uduk didn't just use coconut milk to cook it, they also put lots of leaves and other spices in it, there is noway it would taste like white plain rice, chances are you ate plain rice or just rice cooked with coconut milk (lots of cheap vendor does this)
the main difference of Nasi lemak and Nasi Uduk (beside of side dishes), is Nasi Uduk have more spices like lemon grass, cardamom, coriander seeds, even some add cloves, and star anise, usually served cold, peanut based sambal, yeah..... at this points Nasi Uduk is technically different type of rice dish, people like comparing because its uses coconut milk
and yes Indonesian do have Nasi Lemak, but its more common in malay populated area, like Sumatra, Riau islands, and costal Kalimantan (Indonesian Borneo), here in Jakarta which is native land of Betawi people, its more common Nasi Uduk version
thanks for the info!
nasi uduk and nasi lemak not the same dish. the sambal also different. do not compare unless you find nasi lemak there
Why compare 2 diff things?
kebayoran people's are friendly... enjoy explore jakarta stevanto
masing2 makanan ada kelebihan ya masing2 jgn selalu di banding2 kan.🙏

Nasi uduk the best in the world. From Betawi, bdw cicipi ayam gebrek mr.
Sincerely, nasi lemak more powerful taste
The true rival of Nasi Lemak is not Nasi Uduk, but NASI PADANG. Nasi Uduk is just a pawn of our culinary kingdom. LoL
Nasi Lemak is not rival of Nasi Padang too but Nasi Campur
Steve have break malaysians heart. Haha.. but its ok steve. Different people have different distinction in taste. Love how u appreciate food. Sambal not all made with belacan u know and I would love to taste nasi uduk too.
Kan
@@blasterjaxx88 itu la tu..den masak nasi lemak, sambal tu tak de letak belacan2 nie 🤣🤣🤣
I usually eat nasi uduk for breakfast 👍
JLW compared nasi lemak and nasi uduk because previously there are many people compared before. But actually they are different things. 😅 Its like some people like to do Chinese Malaysian vs Tionghua Indonesian...look like we are creatures or things but not human beings.. 😂 😂

Some people are just weird.
sunda juga melayu..sunda cuma suku.
Ya..nasi lemak Enak.
Nasi uduk juga Enak

Ow wow...it is one persons opnion. Dont be so sour mate. Sure sure malaysian food the best in the world(tho many people in the world beg the differ) you happy now? And by the by..we also have many type of nasi...but i wont go there with you...malaysia the best!!!👍👍👍🇲🇾🇲🇾🇲🇾
Meh, I prefer nasi uduk with bay leaves aroma than nasi lemak with pandan fragrance..
Yang jelas Nasi Uduk dan Nasi Lemak adalah warisan kuliner leluhur Bangsa Melayu di Nusantara.
actually indonesia has many type of nasi also, even in just 1 province you can hv different tastes of nasi. it just that the common ones is the ones many tourists tried which is nasi uduk, nasi padang or nasi kuning when actually we hv nasi lengkoh, nasi campur, nasi liwet, nasi bakar and many others.
and as an indonesian but also been eating nasi lemak for about 8yrs when i staying in singapore for me personally prefer nasi uduk.both are different only hv one common ingredient which is cooked with coconut milk.
Ini menu sarapan ku kawan
You like a little bit spicy peanut sauce? Gotta go for Nasi Pecel...
Never heard of nasi uduk. interested to try. Where to get one in Kuala Lumpur, if there's any restaurant that serve it?
I normally do not comment on these things but both is not the same thing. Nasi uduk is akin to the Malaysian nasi campur as you can see with the variety of side dishes. This too is available at the Malaysian roadside nasi lemak stalls.
Nasi campur is just plain rice packed with lots of protein plus two types of soup you can choose here in Indonesia, usually sold by Chinese-Indonesian vendors
since when nasi lemak comes with sambal belacan? haha....
Does KFC or McDonald's in Indonesia serve nasi uduk? If there're not, then you definitely SHOULD NOT compare it with Nasi Lemak, a WORLD CLASS dish.
Mcd have nasi uduk
lmao Indonesian McD have Nasi Uduk 🤣 imagine being so confident about Nasi Lemak while actually Nasi Lemak itself is originally from Indonesia as well hahaha
McD, hamburger,pizza boleh juga.
Tapi you coba pegi Indonesia biar tau rasa nya macam mana.
Haha... The comment section has exploded. Are some of us Malaysians upset? Don't be lah
Sorry Steve. In this part of the world, you know an egg is good if it's brown like that 🤣
