  • It only took one film. Lady Gaga’s turn as Ally in A Star Is Born has made her a bonafide movie star. Her role is generating Oscar buzz and last night in LA, she was honored as one of ELLE’s Women in Hollywood. In her riveting acceptance speech at this year's event, Gaga opened up about her sexual assault, mental illness, and a plea for women to lift up each other’s voices and “beckon the world towards kindness.” “I wanted to take the power back,” she said.

Earlier this week, we celebrated ELLE's 25th annual Women In Hollywood event, and gave credit to 11 women - including Lady Gaga - who push the conversation forward in 2018. Let us know your favorite moment from Gaga's speech, and read more about #ELLEWIH on ELLE.com: www.elle.com/elle-women-in-hollywood-2018/

Elle is also on the Gaga payroll. An expose needs to be done on the shady side of the biz. Why not write about her many relationships with sexual predators, Elle? How about the many years she worked with Terry Richardson? The song and video she made with RKelly making fun of rape? And what about her projects with Brett Ratner? Seems Elle has a selective memory or has simply decided to throw their journalistic integrity to the side. Also funny is that Gaga only speaks on this issue when she has something to promote.

Go fuck yourself, Gaga has been an advocate for mental health since 2011/2012 when she launched her BTW foundation. And has talking bout surviving sexual assault since 2013-14. She campaigned and even made a song for sexual survivors in 2015. Her song with R Kelly has nothing to do with making fun of rape, the song was written after the media made fun of her gaining weight, so the song talks about how the media can do whatever they want with her body, but it won't affect her mind, so once again, kindly go fuck yourself.

I’m sure you’ve at least once in your life time said something you didn’t actually mean, celebrities are human too. You’ve never been here don’t try and assume who she is. I was also raped.... last February and right now it is January 2020, and I’ve been suffering depression, anxiety, trauma and it sucks. I told my mom that night and we went to the hospital and I reported it to the police and such, ever since then I had to take medication and get needles to heal and I stopped in June. All the guys who done it that night to me, they’ve been going to court and I have my court date next month, two days After the incident and also in March. I am a survivor, and that night I was told from a person I thought who was my friend, that took me to that place, after 3 hours straight the person took me home and was threatening me saying that if they hear about it, they would go around the school and say I slept with a lot of guys. Also told me to take 3 showers that night, and so I was gonna be quiet but I realized and told myself that no it isn’t right I need to use my power and confess what happened and so I did. I also would’ve been pregnant but I got on some kind of pill that helped me not be pregnant. Which was good and I am good for now but all I know is I won’t be always good, I will get through this. I hope this doesn’t get reported or deleted because I’m saying the truth about what happened to me

I honestly don't think she consciously thought "oh! I'm gonna have this rapist in my song and we are going to make a shocking track that can be misinterpret as a rape song", I think she was naive and she focused on the artist in R Kelly rather than him as the shitty person he is.
She said that DWYW was her love letter to R&B and that she wanted the King of R&B singing in the track. Plus she also said that the main reason why she added R Kelly to her album was beacuse she wanted to surprise her friend and make up artist at the time Tara Savelo, because R Kelly was her favorite artist and Gaga wanted to cheer her up beacuse Savelo was diagnosticated with Lupus.
It's truth she made a huge mistake, not only because R Kelly was involved in DWYW but also beacuse she allowed Terry Richardason to direct a very disturbing video for the song, and to be honest, I'm glad she realized her mistake and that she cancelled the whole thing and her assosiation with both! Not only bacuse they are awful people that don't deserve any kind of recognition, but also because if she had let the world watch that video, that would have been the definitive end of her career.

And I went to see it again the next day. Seriously. Then I watched her Five Foot Two documentary on Netflix. Then I watched some interviews. And I'm truly mesmerized by her. Such beautiful, powerful words of inspiration. I sadly can relate to what she went through, and I still suffer from it too. Till It Happens To You was a revelation. Thank you, Lady Gaga!

Oh yeah I feel as though this world is going to hell in a hand basket for sure I don’t understand us as humans. I mean I know escapism is real for us like we feel the need to escape our daily lives hence UA-cam but we can no longer be silent not when there is violence on both sides and sexual hate or shaming others for being human beings all of this shit is fucking 🖕🏿gross to me. 😑😑😑😑😒😑😑🤷🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️

I am a 60 year old man who grew up with classic rock music and heavy metal. Just in the last 6 months, I have really become a fan of Lady Gaga s music and I started with her early pop music, not the newer "grown up" stuff. Now I see her as a great actress also.

@MsPark dude music is subjective, if it's not ur thing then don't listen and doesn't mean it's bad becoz I'm telling u her songs are better than other pop stars her age. And her songs are her art and have deep meanings. So don't judge if u haven't even listen to ALL her songs not just the singles u always hear on the radio.

@ cave: Anyways, what's ur fave album so far Born this way is really great album and very inspiring especially hair and marry the night of course Born this way, The fame Monster is also great. Speechless is abt her dad.. each song represents Gaga's fears. And speechless is fear of death coz of her dad not wanting to undergo heart surgery that time but then he did. :)

It’s great she touched both mental healthy and sexual abuse because both can go hand in hand, and both people pretend don’t exist. They’re really big issues we need more awareness to! People are too scared to come forward saying someone hurt them, that they are hurting. We need more voices coming forward, and we need to defeat all those negative people saying we’re lying or it isn’t real.

The suit looked like it was swallowing her, but by the end it looked small and insignificant. Keep up the words about pain and depression. You speak and it echoes, allowing us who deal with this the chance to get through to people who wouldn't listen. A celebrity can't change the world alone, but they can give the people the power to. I think anyone who has served our country deserves these words: Thank you for your service.

In one night I watched all her songs available on YT. I’m not sleeping-I’m watching all her other videos as well. At 8, a boy, I was sexually assaulted and when I told one of my friends he said “ people tell themselves stories!” I didn’t say anything but went to hid my pain and regretted why I even told that to the guy who didn’t believe: Now, 21, and it doesn’t go a way! I sometimes breakdown but one day I will be a star too from the other side of the world. Thank you lady Gaga u’re inspiring from thousands of miles a way.

Mental issues is an underated phrase. You, we all have a lot of mental issues. Once the real education and buried shunning of the History of Mental health and Psychiatry comes forth people will be more free in life. Prayerfully this won't just turn into an successful Hollywood Woman with mental i$$ue$ and a band wagon to profit but actual effort to transition from the prehistoric pharmaceutical bandage pills that lead to side effects that create the most debilitating brain and body illnesses. Doctors should be allowed to stop just prescribing treatment plans. We have a lot to loose. Our freaking creativity is being diluted just numbed and buried away. NOT COOL, it takes time for your body cellular system and organs to detox the medicine out while who you are is fighting as well. Yet it's not seen that way. An angry thought is an mental issue that requires one to establish compassion, love, respect, discipline in responding. Look at the Wars since our creation. We know not who we are and we do but our mental issues are acceptable for Civil Order. Please do your research everyone. You can see another's mental issues and measure them when you aren't on stage speaking and standing up for yourself. If I came too direct it's my oversized 3 piece tux I made finally. If you get offended is that your mental issue 🤔. I saw laughing in agreement of an relating RELEASE. MY MENTAL ISSUES WERE GIVEN TO ME, I AM NOT ALLOWING THE MAJORITY OF BULLIES TO DILUTE ME BECAUSE ONLY ONE ROUTE WAS ACCEPTED AND NOW A GLOBAL MENTAL ISSUE DEPRESSION. Even the President of the USA made History and ran into the bunker from protestors, come on
