I wish I could go back in time and show my thirteen year old self this speech. She was a girl who didn’t attend a pool party because she was to self-conscious to be in a swimsuit around her classmates. She was a girl who cried in the back of the ballet studio changing room because her instructor advised getting a costume two sizes up. She was a girl who dangerously experimented with eating-disorder tendencies such as fasting/purging because she read that her favorite celebrity did it to lose weight. Thankfully, I’m not that girl anymore. Ten years later, I’m a twenty-three year old that treats herself a lot more kindly than she use to. The road to body-positivity has been a struggle and I’m still on that path. Like Lili said, some days are harder than others. To this day I still look in the mirror at my big hips and thighs and I turn into that thirteen year old girl again. But Lili is absolutely right. There are so many body shapes in the world and they should all be embraced and celebrated. No more body shaming, and that starts with ourselves and then we encourage each other. I love when Lili said “embracing your natural beauty does not exclude anyone. You can be naturally beautiful with acne or scars, cellulite or curves. So let’s celebrate each other, and ourselves, as we are, as we will be, and as we were meant to be.” Can I get an amen? I’m so thankful and incredibly happy that the younger generation has someone as bright, honest, and positive as Lili to look up to. Thank you, Lili. Thank you!
I’m the same thirteen year old girl as you were not going to swim parties because I am self conscious. But...we have to do swimming at school next week and I don’t want to be teased 😔
everyone who is calling her perfect is missing the message. the point of this speech is to say she isn't perfect and that's okay. nobody's perfect. yes she's amazing and inspiring but to call her perfect is to disregard this speech.
Stop talking about her boyfriend or her future kids, she's giving this amazing speech and it seems like no one is paying real attention to what she's saying. Like literally all you're talking about is her future kids and her boyfriend and she is so much more than that.
Roma it literally is not that deep, people aren’t saying anything particularly offensive by referring to Cole or her future children. I’m sure they respect what Lili has to say. Stop looking so deep into a simple comment!
I'm so happy that little girls look up to women like Lili. Females who are strong enough to talk about the real things because they know they should be talked about.
can u all stop focusing on her boyfriend in the comments this has nothing to do with him lol edit: made this comment a *year* ago when the majority of the comments were about her boyfriend and nothing to do with this video, or the woman speaking about her body-issues. wouldn’t you be frustrated if you had the bravery to give this presentation and all everyone was talking about was the man you were dating instead of...you and your thoughts??? moral of the story is women are worth more than their relationship
Ugh, I could listen to her talk forever! She has such a relaxing voice. How refreshing it is to listen to someone speak so open and honest about things a lot of us struggle with. She is such a wonderful role model for individuals of all ages. 💕✨
So true!!!!! I LOVE this!!!!! Beauty lies within not without!!! No one is without beauty on the inside!!!! Don't judge others, because they look different!!!! And don't judge yourself because you look different!!!! Blending in is boring, standing out is hot!!!!! Have confidence in yourself!!!! Perfect people aren't real! NO ONE IS PERFECT!!!! So embrace your imperfections!!!! That's how you standout in a crowd!!!❤❤
Beauty is withing AND without is a point I think she is trying to covey. Just because you do not look like a super model on the outside does not mean that you do not have outward beauty as well. Beautifully said :)
I think Lili is the most inspirational person in the world. She has struggles with depression, anxiety, etc and now is a young powerful woman inspiring other woman and men. She loves to show people how much she loves body positivity and I think that is an amazing personality about her.
I don't even know how many seconds of the day i think about my weight, all i know is that it's too much. I loved this speech, and its absolutely true. We are all beautiful in our own way, we need to learn to love our bodies and be healthy not to fit measured sizes but to live longer happier lives.
Dream1ng I know that this will make no difference to you, but I'm sure you are perfect and amazing in your own way. I know that weight it something many people struggle with, and i have struggled with it too, and it got to an eating disorder. I really hope others don't get the same happen to them, so even if you feel bad, try not to diet or starve yourself, go to a dietician to get professional help and not do anything that will hurt you in the future. Be safe, but with or without weight loss, I'm sure you're perfect 💜
Body image is such a sensitive topic to most people, and Lili spoke about it in such a delicately, beautiful way. I'm so glad that we have her as a romodle and a person who can represent such an important message to not only women, but everyone in the world.
This is not what this is about watch the video again I completely get what you mean but in my opinion she’s not just talking about her struggle but everyone’s
yeah i know i just found it funny how when i look at her i see my goal but yet even she has insecurities even though we/i think she is so beautiful and perfect just goes to show even if you dont see yourself as perfect others will thats my point i was trying to make :)
On TED talks, the speaker talks personally about an event they had to go through that no one else could imagine. Like I watched one on a girl who escaped North Korea successfully. Lili does talk about herself but she is also speaking for many other people with insecurities. How many people do you know have escaped North Korea? I assume less than 10, because it really is not that common.
Are you feeling it now Mr Krabs? That’s not what ted talks is about. There are ted talks on an extremely wide range of subjects. Not just extreme events individuals go through
i was here crying and feeling really bad about myself both physically and mentally, and someone told me to watch this. yeah, i don’t feel amazing, but this speech is amazing. everyone should hear this.
‘We are told to be inscure about certain things’. Can I just say this is such a true statement I was like wow! That is one powerful statement. Lilli Reinheart is an amazing speaker and person ❤️
This is why I deactivated my instagram a few weeks ago and I already feel so much better. It almost drove me into depression and it's so hard to realize since all the memes and quotes make you feel like insta is a relatable place that comforts you. UNTIL you think about why you even feel that certain way. You don't need social medias comfort when you don't put yourself through its toxic traits in the first place. Also your wasting so much time watching others live your dreams instead of working on yourself. Not saying you'll have a perfect life without social media. But a much more focused and real one for sure.
I was / am very insecure about my body because I wasn’t the “ideal” shape and my face wasn’t “perfect”. I constantly judged myself against other people. I belittled my self, catcalling myself constantly. I took a lot of time and effort to realize that my relationship with my body was beyond toxic, that it had affected my self esteem and confidence. I feared that people would leave me because I was “ugly”. I couldn’t be truly open with other people when all I was thinking about was my acne showing and if I looked presentable. I am still on my journey to acceptance of my appearance, I say that I have a way healthier relationship with my appearance, but there’s still room for improvement. I want to thank Lili Reinheart for speaking about physical insecurities and opening about her vulnerabilities. She took one step help us to accept ourselves and be happy with our appearance and is continuing her journey to promote inclusive standards in the mass media. Thank You Lili❤️✨
@@innitparody5209 chill omg she literally said they have the same eye smile. who said she isn't amazing? she literally put "I love her," what more do you expect.
Lili is my actual queen. Not because she is an amazing actress but because she is so inspiring. So many girls and women should listen to Lili. She is so amazing and beautiful (in both ways).
these things really put what i see about my own body into perspective. i look at lili’s body and think maybe I should lose weight so i can look like her, i think she is one of the most gorgeous women ever. while watching this video i went to look up her measurements because she said something about being average when I thought she was skinny, and turns out my measurements are smaller than hers. it really shows how distorted we see our own bodies and how warped that reflection that we “see” actually is
"We aren't born with these insecurities. We are told to be insecure. The perfect world you see is presented you under filters. You are beautiful naturally, embrace it, practice it. Let's celebrate ourselves as we are, we will be and for what we are meant to be...unique, imperfect, beautiful and powerful."
It's so amazing how she uses her power to influence young girls in a positive way I can say soo much about this but then it would literally turn into an essay all i have to say is that Lili Reinhart is an amazing human being and there needs to be more ppl out there like her, cause some girls put each other down instead of making each other feel confident To anyone who reads this - Give someone who you don't usually compliment a nice comment - For those girls who bully other people, Dont, you will regret it in the future and see how stupid you were for thinking it was cool to do that. and you can actually make someone have mental issues or anxiety problems by doing that and even suicidal thoughts by something that you didn't even think would affect them that much you don't know a person's personal problems and the person that they could be when they feel more confident to be themselves this is why you should make them feel more confident instead of putting them down and you don't need to make fun of them to look good in front of your friends or to make you feel better about yourself, you don't need that and they definitely don't need it either, would you wan't anyone doing the same to you? no.so put yourselves in their shoes . We the younger generation can change the world by doing something small like that P.S Sorry bout the essay y'all
Lili is so easy to love and admire. I really respect her and look up to her. This speech is so important because there is a huge amount of women and young girls out there that believe they are not good enough, they believe that they need to look a certain way to be accepted which is so not true. Lili is not just and actress, she is an amazing role model.
As a young girl, I'm so glad I watched this. I've had the same struggles and it's important for messages like this one to become widespread, so that girls like me and my friends can feel happy and confident and secure in our own skins.
Wow I literally started crying watching this. Lili is such an inspiration to so many young women and I love how she spreads awareness for body image. It's true how the media gives us unrealistic standards of how women should look like and that fact that she embraces that is honestly so inspiring and amazing
1: COLE SPROUSE has an amazing taste in women (same goes for lili). 2: my respect for her has raised tenfold. 3: I am showing this to all my friends because she deserves acknowledgement
I can’t stop watching this video. For so long I’ve felt alone. I felt like no one liked me because of how I looked, but Lili reminds us that we’re not alone, nobody is. She reminds us that looks shouldn’t matter, everyone is beautiful in their own way.
I love her! She’s such a huge inspiration to young teenage girls and she’s made me feel comfortable in my own skin and that it’s okay not to be perfect. I think it’s a very admirable thing in her personality that she feels the need to help girls out, and helping us everyday to know that it’s okay to not be perfect and to not have a perfect body, and I love her for that.❤️
Everytime I feel like I need positivity about body image.. I just come here over and over again. That's how good Lili's speech was and it shows how beautifully and smartly she carries herself! It's just so inspiring to see real people out there 💝
I love how human she is in this. She stutters and wears a form fitting dress and you can hear all the emotion in her voice and I know these are tiny things but they just add to how much she actually cares.
I thank you and commend you on your courage to give this speech. It has encouraged me as a father to further understand what my 15 year old daughter has to face on her own. Thank you Lili for helping me protect understand and protect her more. Believe me, this means allot to me.
I've always been drawn to Lili because she's so raw and upfront and I love hearing her speak on pressing things. Her instagram lives she hosts with strong, black people who have faced discrimination all their lives has really educated me on what it's like to be in their shoes and the history of racism. She's changing the world so much and she probably doesn't know it. Love you lili.
This is so captivating! I’m so glad more people in the industry are coming out and expressing how toxic some of the standards are we have to conform to! It’s so vital for young women to hear these things when they are constantly surrounded by a world that refuses to accept them for who they are naturally. I’m so proud of Lili for standing up and sharing her experience!

Didn't realise how much I needed to hear this.
everyone who is calling her perfect is missing the message. the point of this speech is to say she isn't perfect and that's okay. nobody's perfect. yes she's amazing and inspiring but to call her perfect is to disregard this speech.

Perfect in every way. Doesnt have to be physical. Just her talking about it makes her perfect.
@@nerdyypie9536 😂
Stop talking about her boyfriend or her future kids, she's giving this amazing speech and it seems like no one is paying real attention to what she's saying. Like literally all you're talking about is her future kids and her boyfriend and she is so much more than that.
Y! E! S!
Sadly, before they even get to that stage in their life, society shapes a woman’s identity by her marriage and kids.
wildflower It ain’t that deep
grape soda 😭💀💀💀
Roma it literally is not that deep, people aren’t saying anything particularly offensive by referring to Cole or her future children. I’m sure they respect what Lili has to say. Stop looking so deep into a simple comment!
I'm so happy that little girls look up to women like Lili. Females who are strong enough to talk about the real things because they know they should be talked about.
can u all stop focusing on her boyfriend in the comments this has nothing to do with him lol
edit: made this comment a *year* ago when the majority of the comments were about her boyfriend and nothing to do with this video, or the woman speaking about her body-issues. wouldn’t you be frustrated if you had the bravery to give this presentation and all everyone was talking about was the man you were dating instead of...you and your thoughts??? moral of the story is women are worth more than their relationship
brianna maclean thank you.
Right
Thanks for this
wait is there alot of comments on him? i only saw two 🤣🤣
No, they are just saying how lucky he is to have an inspiration such as lily.
*cries* she’s so inspirational. This is exactly what every. Single. Female. Ever. Needs to hear, sadly. ❤️
Isabel Balcom You can't blend in when you were born to stand out
Beauty is withing AND without is a point I think she is trying to covey. Just because you do not look like a super model on the outside does not mean that you do not have outward beauty as well. Beautifully said :)
Ikr I love seeing ppl who look different , and not having the same looks bc thats boring

@@charavaiou7538 thank you that means a lot, its a struggle but im getting to be more confident in my self.
Same I’m just a 13 year old girl who’s friends all have 6 packs and has nothing
Body image is such a sensitive topic to most people, and Lili spoke about it in such a delicately, beautiful way. I'm so glad that we have her as a romodle and a person who can represent such an important message to not only women, but everyone in the world.
and yet here i am looking at lili thinking i wish i had her body lol
JM heirloom same
This is not what this is about watch the video again I completely get what you mean but in my opinion she’s not just talking about her struggle but everyone’s
Honestly there are probably people that wish they had your body too. This speech is about saying that EVERYONE has their own insecurities.
yeah i know i just found it funny how when i look at her i see my goal but yet even she has insecurities even though we/i think she is so beautiful and perfect just goes to show even if you dont see yourself as perfect others will thats my point i was trying to make :)
You obviously missed the entire point of her speech. Moron.
Why she hasn’t talk yet on TED talks ??😳🙏🏻💕💕
right?! this sounds like one, she is great at speaking.
I get your points but its more than 10! Far more even though yes its very rare..
Are you feeling it now Mr Krabs? That’s not what ted talks is about. There are ted talks on an extremely wide range of subjects. Not just extreme events individuals go through
Lili would do a better job at being a therapist than my actual therapist just saying
How she reads everything off screen but still you don't really realize until 7:40 cause she is brilliant !!!! Thank you Lili
Sandra Nobs I think she has it mostly memorized, they just put it on the screen just in case she forgets a word or sentence.
I didn’t realize it till this comment 😂😭
I think she wrote this whole thing, but she cold have been nervous or something and in this case it's easy to forget things (sorry my English is bad)

As someone who’s relapsing in an eating disorder, it’s so comforting to hear someone I idolize so much opening up 💗
Riana H I'm relapsing with an eating disorder too. but we're strong and we can get through this!

Emma Higgans no she isn‘t. No one is and that‘s fine:)
@@mariaopel1874 And, yes no one's perfect, but I think she meant like a very kind and good girl. If you know what I mean.
@@mariaopel1874 Yeah, we're all perfectly imperfect is what I meant
Thank You Lili❤️✨
lili and cole have the same eye smile. I love her
sheilla feolino Cole has nothing to do with this it’s lili who is amazing
@@innitparody5209 chill omg she literally said they have the same eye smile. who said she isn't amazing? she literally put "I love her," what more do you expect.
Lili is my actual queen. Not because she is an amazing actress but because she is so inspiring. So many girls and women should listen to Lili. She is so amazing and beautiful (in both ways).
I could listen to her for days. She’s so inspiring and has a nice voice to listen to
these things really put what i see about my own body into perspective. i look at lili’s body and think maybe I should lose weight so i can look like her, i think she is one of the most gorgeous women ever. while watching this video i went to look up her measurements because she said something about being average when I thought she was skinny, and turns out my measurements are smaller than hers. it really shows how distorted we see our own bodies and how warped that reflection that we “see” actually is
Emma Swan you got this hunny!! You and your body are beautiful just the way you are 💝💝💝

Lesson of the day: “do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (romans 12:2)
Are we too blind to see that beauty lies beneath the skin?
If we were all blind, it'd be easier

Sadly yes. At least alot of the time.
„If our Eyes would see souls instead of bodys how different would our ideals of beauty be“ just something i read. It’s so true.

Ugh. I love Lili Reinhart! She’s so inspiring and REAL.💛
I know right??!! Me toooo!!!💕💕
She’s the best. I love her so much: she’s so sweet and clever. She’s an iconic woman for all of us.
I love lili reinhart.
that's all I have to say
"We aren't born with these insecurities. We are told to be insecure. The perfect world you see is presented you under filters. You are beautiful naturally, embrace it, practice it. Let's celebrate ourselves as we are, we will be and for what we are meant to be...unique, imperfect, beautiful and powerful."
It's so amazing how she uses her power to influence young girls in a positive way
I can say soo much about this but then it would literally turn into an essay all i have to say is that Lili Reinhart is an amazing human being and there needs to be more ppl out there like her, cause some girls put each other down instead of making each other feel confident
To anyone who reads this
- Give someone who you don't usually compliment a nice comment
- For those girls who bully other people, Dont, you will regret it in the future and see how stupid you were for thinking it was cool to do that. and you can actually make someone have mental issues or anxiety problems by doing that and even suicidal thoughts by something that you didn't even think would affect them that much you don't know a person's personal problems and the person that they could be when they feel more confident to be themselves this is why you should make them feel more confident instead of putting them down and you don't need to make fun of them to look good in front of your friends or to make you feel better about yourself, you don't need that and they definitely don't need it either, would you wan't anyone doing the same to you? no.so put yourselves in their shoes .
We the younger generation can change the world by doing something small like that
P.S Sorry bout the essay y'all
Let’s be friends 💖💖😂😂😂😂this really is something I will say try to love yourself more than hate
