I wanted to cosplay Black Panther as a homage to Chadwick Boseman so I was fired up when I found this video on UA-cam! It took A LOT of hours and I had to slow down the video speed a couple times but the final result looks FANTASTIC! Thank you!!
If anyone out there wants to build this, I have a few points to share that might make it a little easier:
1) Try to find thin but solid cardboard (Amazon boxes are great!).
2) Taking the paper off the template completely can be a pain (maybe my glue stick was too strong?) I recommend just switching the left and the right pieces once you’ve cut the template out. This way the paper pieces will be on the inside of the helmet. The video says we’ll need the template paper later but I never saw why/where that was necessary.
3) I just glued reflective sunglasses lenses from a dollar store pair to do the eyes. It looks amazing and was very easy/quick to do.
4) I spray painted the cardboard directly. For me, I needed to keep the cardboard from becoming too rigid. Also, painted cardboard looks great and the textures really popped!

Hey daily have you ever tried using something like magic-sculpt epoxy clay after creating the helmet but before the the artwork, as a way to smooth out and not give certain helmets a cardboard look or feel? Idk I just saw a video with a guy using it and it seemed like an amazing idea like when I make the death stroke one if I needed to in some spots I could add that and smooth it out you know. Idk it might be a nice little trick to make some round things look not as folded and more round or real NOT SAYING THAT YOUR STUFF DOESNT LOOK REAL I just thought that this might help, idk
never used magic-sculpt, but i used filler in many of my projects, you can check them out :)
