    Finally a true, unbiased, detailed, and fair test. This is awesome bro thanks. With how good you were talking about the Zircon I assumed you were going to be ignoring its faults and highlighting it’s good features but it’s clear you were being objective. I’ve definitely subbed after this video

      In this video you can see the Franklin detects live cables as a stud, which wasn't tested in this video for the franklin. So yes there is bias, and an unfair test, as the zircon was tested with the cable up against the wall.

    I bought a Zircon several years ago and right out of the box it was a piece of junk! Always marking edges or just before an edge as center, Ive drilled many, many, many bad holes and just resorted to finding center with a tape and that actually worked better but takes a lot longer so trying one of these today to put up base board and hang some pictures. Great video.

    Very well done. Your honesty is the number key with your testing. Although now we know that it's not good when Franklin Sensor has to go up gains thicker drywall, it's still accurate on lessor thickness drywall. I will get one as well. Thank u.

    I suspect the reason the Franklin Sensors was giving you some false reading there for a while was because you had your hand running along the bottom of the unit. That will throw off the reading. You need to keep your hand on the handle. Nice review.

    I could *not* find the plaster ceiling studs in my garage, using *3* different Zircon testers. I got the Franklin 710+ (yours here) & on the first try bam! Exact locations, even across/showing a 4” double stud. It’s a keeper. Since I’m not looking for wires this was a no-brainer! I believe their M150 model also includes electric detection but haven’t tried it.

  • @pjesf

    I bought the mid-level zircon and it couldn’t even find the wall. I exchanged it for the deep sensor model and it wasn’t much better. The Franklin worked well.
    Conclusion: If rating on a scale of A-Z, Zircon is named perfectly

  • @bradymiguel

    With detecting metal on the zircon, it senses within a range. You’re supposed to mark when it hits on on side, then mark when it hits on the other side. Your metal stud should hopefully be centered between your two marks.

  • @luxeacrylic3082
    @luxeacrylic3082 3 роки тому +4

    So your 1st stud finder zircon detected early when that happens your suppose to mark that with a pencil then from the right side when it detected early you mark that so then you will easily detect on your own where the center of your beam it. So its still a pretty reliable stud finder ;) seems like 👍 mark your edges lol then you find the centre lol

    • @Fowlesr40
      @Fowlesr40 3 роки тому +1

      SOOOO.. MARK LEFT, MARK TO THE RIGHT, MOVE SOME MORE, find center.. ok. As opposed to this and find it in three lights. Sure! I love more complicated.

    Thank you sir for the video.
    The testing made me reconsider my choice.
    I have the Zircon it's better than my old Stanley,.
    I find the Zircon troubling doesn't always find the stud, also wonder when I get it ready to scan wonder if it calibrated the same each time.
    Franklin gets favorable reviews, very little on Bosch sensors.

    I wonder if the franklin sensor didn't read the double drywall was because you started the sensor out on an actual stud. I know in other sensors you need to calibrate the sensor where there isn't a stud. Would have liked to seen the difference, if there would be any I wonder?

      Then I guess you've never seen 1" shaftwall liner. Two layers of 1/2" also equals one inch. One layer of 5/8" and one layer of 3/8" also equals one inch. Two layers of 5/8" (as you will find on a 2-hour rated drywall assembly) equals 1-1/4".

      Your statement is very true for most stud finders and should be adhered to, But the Franklin model "ProSensor Professional T13 Stud Finder does allows you to start directly over the stud, the deference is this Franklin model has Auto-Scan feature built-in which eliminates the need to avoid the stud, the other nice feature about this unit is you do not have to calibrate just press, hold and begin your scan, for me this model is hard to beat. Cost: about $60.00

    Not the best of test. I would have prefer you stopped on all the studs to see if franklin stud finder would center all of them properly. You did it with 1st one and kept rolling over all the other studs with the franklin stud finder. The Zircon you didn't even let it calibrate before moving it. You moved it every time before it was done calibrating.
