My wife and I would drop everything everytime🎸 Mason Ruffner🎸 came to Houston. Once after a gig @ Rockefeller's in west Houston my wife,❤️ Kitty❤️ grabbed a playlist taped to the floor by Mason's mike stand and we got it autographed. Yay. His girlfriend tried to make Kitty give it to her and the fight was nearly on. We know who won😉😍😅😅!! Rock on.
@@samuelmills6562 I meet Mason in New Orleans, at the Ole' Absinthe House, with Jimmy Page, who did really discovered him. He's a real sweet heart. Too bad about his girlfriend, she should have been encouraging autographs instead of acting the way she did. I apologize on her behalf. That's not what the blues is all about. Good times for all ❤️🎸
AWESOME...I bow for you Mason !!!... You have giving me some wonderful memories...- Bought this fantastic Rec. in Vinyl, 1989, or 87... US-press....gosh, it don`t matter…STRONGLY RECOMMENDED... !!! Best Regards // Eddie Sweden
Bought the CD when it first appeared and learned all the songs on it on my lil' old Strat! Good times, gotta get that going again. Amazing to see the Twin Towers too 💖 🇨🇦
He's originally fom a small town in Illinois named~Surprise!~Mason. I went to school with his two younger sisters. Im not sure how many years older he is than I am. I guess he must have had some fondness for his original home since he did adopt its name. I remember when the family moved, and we got to stop by during a trip to see them again. I like that he gets to share a name with another great guitarist: Mason Williams.
Oh, geez, I probably haven't haerd it this song in about 35 years. Someone on one of the Facebook groups I'm on mentioned Mason last night, that made me seek this out. Hearing it now, it's an interesting mix of rootsy guitar and vocals, on top of a very 80's pop production (i.e. drum machine, sequenced synth bass, etc). Kinda interesting combination. And watching the video, wow, the World Trade Center (I get a little bit of a lump in my throat whenever I see it these days, ever since September 11).
I use to watch the video when it first came out and I like it and still do. I never thought in a million years those two towers would come tumbling down like that and very devastated. There are a few peices of metal beams that were sent to Texas over in Marfa at the us customs and border protection sector station. Those beams that are in Texas once had Mason Ruffer standing on them.
I've always loved this song and video, and always loved the towers. Just like some of the lyrics in Don Henley's "New York Minute", some of the lyrics in this song carry an unintentional eerie prophecy. None of us would have ever dreamed in our worst nightmares that in a little over a dozen years, such an unbelievable (still) tragedy would happen to such magnificent structures, and a far more tragic loss of life.
Wow, it's so weird to think about.. Good music like this ruled MTV back in the day. MTV was always so updated on new music and such, back then.. But now MTV is just Reality Show's and gayass new-music
never say this vid back in the day and never saw it on MTV but I remeber the day Mason was booed off stage as the opening act of Jimmy Page in El Paso Texas in 88. He seemed to be very angry that the crowd would not let him continue.
It certainly did not happen that way, when Mason opened for the Firm in New Orleans, April 1986. New Orleans loved that Texas sound. Don't know if was the excited crowd wanting to see and hear Jimmy fast, or the fact that Mason didn't jam well. It couldn't have been the later.
One of the most awesome music videos ever made. Also, one of the most underrated guitar players/ singers ever.🌎🇺🇸💌✌️❤️🎶

One of my favourite guitar players. Gypsy Blood is a great album
Puro, total y absoluto rock. Grettings from CDMX
I am sitting on top of the world watching Mason dancing
Ruffner rocks
Some of the lyrics seem almost prophetic .."I feel like I'm on fire, dancing in the flames"....very eery indeed..
Great song!
The lyrics at 2:10 sound very prophetic to say the least and quite astonishingly coincidental.
This song make's you wanna get up and party! Ruffner can rock on
great song. It's very easy to hear who influenced you in your music

Little none fact: Jimmy Page was a Ruffner fab/
Yes, I meet them together in a blues club, in New Orleans. Jimmy was instrumental in his career. Jimmy is a good friend to have, for sure.
