    Dont mind them. I have been doing cakes for almost a decade now and i am learning a lot from other bakers esp from you. And you know what? Thank you so much for sharing coz you make my life easier. If they can do better, then please post a video on how you do it. If u dont want to share it, then dont speak ill for people like her who wholeHeartedly share ideas.

    I have only frosted one square cake (in pastry school) and never want to again, however, I have a theory that there could be a different way that might work and be fairly easy, so I thought I would bounce the idea off of you. In the last couple of years I've begun to see people freeze buttercream roses, decorations, etc. because it makes it easier to work with. Would it be possible to actually freeze squares of buttercream to place on the sides of the cake (after a slightly thicker crumbcoathad been put on ) and then use an exacto knife to actually slice the edges off to make them even and square. You would have four panels (like with fondant, but it would be frozen buttercream). Any small lines from the exacto knife could possibly be buffed out with a viva paper towel. I don't have all the kinks worked out in my head, but just curious what you think about it? By the way...great video..love all your videos and recipes.

      Oh my God, I've actually tried this in the past, we think alike. The thing is it works but there are kinks, kinks I'm determined to straighten out, I'll be back to let you know how it goes with the revised version. Hopefully, 3rd time's the charm

    Not only do Wilton's baking strips prevent browning but you get a nice flat top, that is, no doming so no need to trim tops and sides of cakes.

    • @IMP3TIGO
      @IMP3TIGO 4 роки тому +1

      I like strips too but some people don't like the "crust" on the sides/top even if not domed. Personally, I don't find it objectionable at all and always use strips and never cut anything off.

    Can you please make a video on baking square cake? For some reason I always end up with slightly undercooked middle with completely cooked sides. And if give it more time to bake , the middle cooks up but the sides starts to burn. I use a 6 x 4 inch square pan

    • @SugarGeekShow
      @SugarGeekShow  5 років тому

      Use a shorter pan :) That's why I don't use 4" tall pans because they make the edges too dry. Or you can use a baking core, that might help.
