Next time you take a compression reading, you should screw in the hose all the way and use a little grease on the seal to make it tighten, then to be able to remove easily. The puffs of dust show it wasn't done correctly and you let a lot of pressure escape from the loose hose and the numbers you achieve are meaningless. Also, open the throttle fully so the pistons aren't sucking hard for air flow and cause your readings to be artificially low and uneven.
Your accent is next-level awesome. I'm using this Valvoline in all of my family fleet and noticing the same thing with the oil cap sitting on the valve cover. Neat trick.
All good....here's a hint on avoiding an oily mess on your hands when removing the filter. Use the wrench method of your choice to break-free...then....instead of rotating it off right now....put a red-plastic drinking cup ( bought in a pack, usually meant for parties, etc), up against the oil filter. The cup is tapered, so it can "capture" most filter diameters. As you now grab the oil flter ( via the cup) and turn further....the attached cup catches all of the spillage....clean hands.
Thanks for sharing! I actually do know this method but didn't want to use it since I was trying not have oil on the sides of the oil filter, to minimise slip while cutting it open
On my 2020 Toyota Camry which takes 0w16 oil . After reading about how the thin oil was forced on manufacturers by the US EPA . And that there were how many that switched to 5w30 oil without any adverse effect . About a month ago I switched to this Valvoline Restore and Protect , 5w30 . Engine is now much quieter and especially on accelerating , not the noisae as before . And while at a traffic light , it's as if my car is not running . Though I don't expect any cleaning action . Due to my 5000 mile oil changes and using an engine flush such as AmsOil , Liquid-Moly or BG EPR. Because each time the oil comes out golden and I can see through it as it drains . Usually letting it drain for 45 minutes to an hour .
Same here. I have a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek and the manufacturer recommended oil is 0w20 but it is to meet emission standards. My car is low miles and doesn't burn oil but many Suabaru owners switch it out for 5w30 for better operation and longevity or if the engine burns oil with the lighter oil. I run 5w30 Castrol synthetic/Wix filter and do oil changes at 5K so I think my engine should run smooth and clean for a long time👍
How does the oil come out golden? Even normal use and heat turns the oil black, it's not just black from sludge or contamination it's literally from the internal engine temp cooking the oil. Unless it's barely driven and never gets to proper temperature.
@sparklawns3433 I think some engines run cleaner than others. Some engines have PCV systems that need maintenance and some have PCV systems that are designed poorly. Some engines are just mechanically worn or running poorly and it causes the oil to blacken. Then there is the heat cycling. I think if your running a good synthetic and changing it @ no more than 5k miles the differences in oil brands are minimal if you have a good running and clean engine to begin with.

I have a 2015 Honda Accord Sport with the same Earth dream 2.4L engine. My engine was consuming about a quart of oil every 5000 miles. So, I decided to try the Valvoline R&P to reduce my oil consumption. At almost 500 miles using this oil I've seen zero oil consumption but have noticed that Valvoline R&P has a very distinct smell as I drive. Have you noticed this smell?
It’s interesting that you’re getting that smell. Haven't got that while driving, but I'd say I once had it spil in my trunk, the smell was like nothing I've perceived from any other oil.
It is my understanding that R&P dissolves at the microscopic level, smaller than the filter will catch. So those materials come out with the oil change.
Here’s my 6 month testimonial for VR&P. Just a data point for anyone looking into this product. 2012 Prius V I’ve owned since new. Oil changes at dealership or quick-lube places. So just bulk synthetic that came out of a barrel. Lots of HWY miles for the first 85K. Oil change interval average ~7K. After that, from 85-127K, almost all short trips with oil change interval average ~4.5K. Model year falls under TSB for low friction rings oil consumption. No noticeable oil consumption at 124K, when I switched to VR&P, but was smelling fuel dilution in the oil. So my original intent was to switch to VR&P to hedge against possible future oil consumption. I had originally thought about changing the first use of the VR&P out at 1K miles, or at least the filter, but it looked so good on the dipstick checks I ended up going to 2.5K. Oil filter looked normal upon change. I think I could have gone out to 4K on the first change. That fuel dilution in the engine oil(probably first noticed when the vehicle started being used for majority short trips) was to the extent that I could smell it in the garage after the car had sat a bit. I now have 3.5K+ miles on VR&P and no longer smell fuel dilution in the engine oil. Can’t speak to why and how, it’s just my observation. The other thing that has really pleased me is how quiet/smooth the engine sounded immediately after switching. I mean the very first start had noticeably reduced engine chatter. I’m probably going to use this oil for the rest of the vehicle’s serviceable life.

I wasn't trying to mask they were 2 different vehicles. Did you not hear when I said that I forgot to get baseline footage, and in the next clip demonstrated the bobbing of the oil cap on the Honda holding the cap in my hand? At the top left corner of that clip, I marked it "simulation".
I'm actually a physician by profession, and don't need UA-cam money to get by, at all. I do UA-cam because I love DIY/fixing cars and showing people how to do so. It's great it makes money on the side, because I'm doing what I love.
Don't get me wrong, you're totally entitled to your opinion, but trying to suggest I'm faking this is what I totally refute.
@@DIYAutoworksNGmy sincerest apologies, I missed the “simulation” part of the video with the disclaimer you made the first time I watched it. I just had it playing in the background while I was doing laundry and totally missed that.
I had watched numerous oil videos before yours and thought some of the others talking about this restore and protect were a little fishy, so I was already predisposed to thinking in that frame of mind. Again, very sorry for the misunderstanding.
Just a final thought before I delete my comment: in the future you may want to make an audible statement in the video addressing any sort of confusing/conflicting footage to clear up any misunderstandings some distracted inactive viewers like me may have lol. Have a good one man.
Bro, WHERE did you buy this oil? I cant find it anywhere in the UK. Please tell me where I can get it?
Mate, I got this in checked baggage. US trip
Not sure why Valvoline doesn't want to make this available in other markets.
@@DIYAutoworksNGOn the shelves in Australia- We have a 10w-40 version of it too 😎
@@Paul-cb2rbi want that weight too. We only have 5w30 0w20 and 5w20. I wish they made it for motorcycles too.
That's awesome!
