Your water pump issues were almost exactly the same as what happened to David Johns. His water pump was turning on more often than it usually did. Very similar symptoms. The just so so glad that it wasn’t a leak. That there wasn’t any water ingress - thank goodness ❤
When we did our trip on the French canal system l use to put our "Free Range " wood after l cut it up in the engine room to dry out ,utilizing the otherwise wasted heat from the engine.I used a couple of stainless wire freezer baskets l picked up at one of their flea markets for next to nothing to store it in. It burnt far cleaner and put out more heat that way, as we tried to "double " use the wood heater as much as possible for cooking on, simmering large pots of Vegetable soup or casseroles, kettles and coffee pot etc meant we used next to nothing in gas, plus it gave far better coals for cooking potatoes in the jacket or choc bananas or the old campfire bread twists, damper etc. Coming down into the cabin after a cold turn on the tiller, with the smell of a hearty meal simmering on top the fire in the cabin, is still some of my favorite memory's of the trip . Do you use the drone to scout out good moorings ahead? Another relaxing vid ,give the dogs a pat from us .
Thanks Daryl, dogs have been patted! That's a great idea about storing wood in the engine room. I know what you mean about cooking on the fire. It is one of my greatest pleasures, filling the boat with delicious smells and cooking our dinner for free.
Hi live in Malaysia and I can't stop looking at your site, you take me back to the days when I was holidaying on the canals 1976 7 8 please don't stop doing the videos.
I totally agree with the snooker player and detective on there comments" excellent videos, much sooner watch Fran sawing the wood than you rich ?" thumbs up if you agree chaps ?.
You all prolly dont care but does anyone know a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot my account password. I love any tips you can give me
@Kaleb Forrest thanks so much for your reply. I found the site on google and I'm in the hacking process now. Looks like it's gonna take a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.

Hi still catching up! When you mentioned the Indian restaurant ( the spice of Braunsten) it reminded me that a nurse use to live there many years ago and she would provide medical care and health check ups for the boatmen and there family's free of charge.
The quality of your videos(they way they are filmed) is getting better and better, another couple of years and you will have your own video production business.
Ohhhh, thank you for sharing the moments of quiet and peace that you encounter. Such a pleasure to enjoy some quiet cruise time as you did here and have done before. Didn’t know I’d like that this much. 😁
Know what you mean about getting itchy feet to hit the road again in our RV. Had planned to keep traveling and drop by the house Occasionally til we were 80! Hubby’s health changed our plans 10 yrs sooner than that,, so stay in our Mtn house in the hot months and stay at our much smaller home on the east coast in the cold months👍. Miss traveling though. Enjoy! You guys are young!
Enjoy your journeys on the canals. You seem so comfortable in each other's company. I love Frans weaving and cooking hints. Thanks for sharing your life on the cut with us.
Rich & Fran Another great VLOG! Never a dull moment. It’s always great fun and sometimes a learning experience. It’s good to have a think 🤔 about the path in life that has been chosen.
Saw you guys using the Bow Saw on your wood. I recommend a battery operated reciprocating saw (saws all) with a long wood blade. It will make short work of that wood you scavenge. Not so hard on the arms and shoulders. Loving the vlogs. On the lunch in Bilsworth Tunnel.
I completely agree with Steve Davis' comments. You both seem so comfortable in front of the camera, and you have taken to narrow boating like a duck to water. The drone footage is great and really enhances the videos. We are motor homers and are interested particularly in the mechanics of life on board. You seem to have had a little bad luck with breakdowns recently but you get that with any second hand vehicle or boat. Presumably you saved money in buying privately against buying from a dealer, which allows you to do the repairs etc. I like what you;ve done in turning the multi fuel stove round so it's less intrusive in the saloon. We too use a mifi unit for connecting to the internet, and just as you are finding, some places it works and some it doesn't. Keep the vlogs coming. I am particularly looking forward to Rich telling us about his equipment for videoing and would also be interested to know what you use for video editing. Keep up the good work and keep the vlogs coming.
Tunnels.....have to close my eyes! Too claustrophobic, I think! Enjoy seeing the happy pooches - they seem to have taken to boating like ducks to water.
Super use of the drone Richard, good to see you saved the thickest branches for Francis to cut! slowly catching up on your videos keep them coming many thanks for sharing
Marmite DRINK?!? I’ve never heard of drinking that “stuff”! Yes, I’m one of those “don’t like marmite/vegemite/cenovis (Swiss version). I learn something new from all your videos…..love your use of your “new” black plastic box!

Another lovely vlog. It's 19 degrees here but i felt very cold when watching you travelling along! I know where i would rather be :) 21 weeks until our month-long narrowboat holiday, we can't wait.
19 degrees sounds so hot. We are down to -4 tonight and are iced in! Where will you be travelling on your narrowboat holiday. A month is a lovely long time!
I go to the Stoke Bruen Boat Pub on my trips to the UK. According to the owners, the pub was there before the canal. I always take my old Mum with me and she always worries I will let her wheelchair roll into the canal. The location is lovely. We do some gongoozling (is that correct) and our favorites are the drunk canal boaters crashing into everything as they come through the locks.
This video I will watch a few more times, it's just great. The drone footage gets better and more interesting views, and the music blends with the scenery. Thanks for taking us along. Its a crisp cold day here in Michigan and was out in it earlier. Now I am enjoying your trip and a hot cup of tea. Cheers.
It's a pleasure to watch your travels, once again. Boat/house, whatever - you two would be happy anywhere, with the dogs and each other. That's wealth! x
Lovely vlog once again! As soon as the "drone music" begins, and I hear the little electronic sounds the drone makes, I break out in a huge grin because I know that, in a matter of seconds, we'll all be soaring above the English countryside with Fran and Rich! I love that area but I’ve not been through the Blissworth tunnel yet! I’ve just got home after completing on my boat sale today. I think the lady who bought it thought I’d never leave and go home, it felt very strange handing it over to someone else. I spent last night alone on the boat and it was lovely, all quiet and cosy. We now need to complete on our flat in London and find something bigger. I’m slightly worried because my husband is suggesting it was better when we used to hire. I know as leisure boaters it can be hard work because you arrive for a holiday and there’s work to be done then you just get it sorted and you’re heading home. I’d love to stay on the boat but my husband likes to get home. There’s nothing really suitable on the market at the moment and good boats, as always, are selling fast so we’ll just have to see what happens. There is a nice trad stern but we had a cruiser and the three dogs could sit there with us when we cruised. How do you find the trad stern with the dogs? Thanks as always for sharing your adventure. I love to follow you’re adventure and tonight I’m feeling slightly jealous. BTW I watched your last video with my friend and she wanted to look at the start of your journey. She said she thinks Fran looks much younger now than when you started cruising and that the boat life suits her. When I looked again it’s true you look amazing now.
Thanks for your comments Sylvia. I didn't realise you were selling your boat. We hope you find what you are looking for soon. It must have been sad spending your last night on your boat. Why did you sell?. We have found the traditional stern fine for our dogs, but that's all they have been used to. They sit in the engine room watching us and looking out of the portholes. I can't believe you think we look younger. Narrowboat life must agree with us. Xx
hi you two hope your well, if you not gone pass Bixter.granthams..bridge boat services, the locks Hillmorton rugby.. the pull over and your see my boat just sitting there in the water waiting to be done. its the long gary one..
Great vlog. Are you able to use showers at the facilities points? Are they in every town beside the canal? The Llangollen can't be far from the cottage?
Hi~With your healthcare experience Fran, you know that life can turn on a dime, as mine did, and not for the better. It's a long story, so I won't bore you with it, just to say, if you can, and your present situation works, do it, but hang on to that house. I'm loving your video's, now I'm going to Subscribe!
We were just wondering if when you go into town to shop or go to a pub, if you could film it ? We'd love to see what English villages look like. Thank you

Really enjoyed your vid. I live in America love your narrow boats. My question is when going through long tunnels how do you keep From meeting another boat . Are they one way ???
Hi Fran and Rich. To paraphrase what someone famous used to to say -" You're our favourite(s)" Now, just a quick question: you mentioned about coming back from the cottage by car, did you in the end change your minds about not having a car at all, or do you just hire one as necessary ? Thanks. D and Christine

Thanks for your comment. We swear by skin-so-soft. It was brilliant against midges and horseflies. We will get to the Lancaster at some point so watch out for us.
They are reporting in this months Towpath Talk that there are liveaboards are living dangerous by not installing a carbon monoxcide monitor on board. Do you have this piece of equipment on board 'cause you burn wood that you pick up from here and there. I hope your vents are clear as well we don't want you two dying on us, it would be very sad. Stay safe in the meantime. x ps Love the working Narras. Thats what drew me to the canal in the first place.
That was like watching some kinky wood cutting video :) ha ha ha . A different garden everyday , what a life . You can tell you have been around London recently with all that axe waving going on , stay away from London it seems to have influenced you in a negative way :) Numpties ha ha ha ha ha .
Enjoyed this video very very much thanks to NO MUSIC. I do love music but not the kind you usually play -- six or seven notes/words that play over and over again and again -- drives me nuts.
You have to think about that question if one had to go.... If you sold the house burned all the funds & the worse came to the worse if you had to sell the boat to return back to land having burnt the funds from the house sale. Boats do not hold value unless very new & fitted out to a high standard..... So if you have to rent the house out to permeant tenants to keep it as a last resort do it.... If having to sell the boat if you're lucky after brokerage fees you might get 18k then depend on where you want to move if the worse came two bed house if you're lucky depending on how nice the property is 100k lowest estimate... That's assuming you have to start from scratch new pickup ect But hay having had two boats on the broads & with tolls mooring fees maintenance it's not cheap.

Don't worry Gaz we have smoke and Carbon alarms aboard. Thanks for your concern - we're not ready to pop off yet Fran xx
Calm...calm...calm...there are many things to worry about in this world...a CO detector is likely needed to pass an inspection. All is good. Carry on.
That's assuming you have to start from scratch new pickup ect
But hay having had two boats on the broads & with tolls mooring fees maintenance it's not cheap.
We're not planning on doing anything other than enjoying our boat at the moment. The questions were really just theoretical. Thank you
Floating Our Boat I know that's why my reply was more realistic 😆
