Happy New Year, and sorry about yesterday's upload, I still have no idea how that happened. Links: Discord: discord.gg/r2WeevN3Ua Twitch: www.twitch.tv/ryanpeteslive Gaming Channel: ua-cam.com/channels/q93DC9Jrmz_tQY9jakgouA.html Main Channel: ua-cam.com/channels/A0d4wih_ecEWiLjy0Ws4Tg.html
Okay, William of Orange, not the first Dutch king. WaDDen, not WaLDen Islands, a wad being a temporarily dry bit of sea, the sea between the main land and the islands is called Waddenzee because of that, at low tide you can walk from mainland to island on guided tours. Not sure the carrots being orange because of the Dutch Stadtholder (as they were at the time, and not necessarily hereditary) story is true. Vincent says Noord Holland again instead of Noord Brabant. Official state policy is only to use the Netherlands since a couple of years. He says the Leeward Islands for both the ABC and SSS Islands. The Rhine does not really end in Rotterdam, it splits in three soon after crossing the border, the IJssel of the IJsselmeer is the smallest branch and goes north, the Nederrijn goes west as does the Waal which is the main branch. It then gets complicated as Maas (Meusse) and Waal combine and decombine.
"Sprinkles on toast" "what... why?" Because it's amazing!! that's why :P But really, try it some day, you'll understand why in one bite. (preferably on white bread with a little butter spread on to keep the chocolate sprinkles where it belongs) Mind you, even if you eat 4 slices of bread with chocolate sprinkles, you still consume less sugar that 1 bowl of American cereal. (or 1 glass of Coca Cola)
Aha! So this is the Geography Now video that introduced their practice of dividing their episodes into segments that they still have to this day. So far, we've got Noah's section, then Random Hannah with the culture segment, and Keith with the music segment. Not too long from this, they also add the animals and sports segments.
16:30 what they do not mention is the Symphonic Metal female fronted. Before Evenescence there was The Gathering with Anneke van Giersbergen, and Within Temptation. Epica, After Forever ( Floor Jansen her first band that she started 14 years old..Metal to the bone. Delain, Stream of Passion, Areyon, MaYan, Netherlands is the capitol of Symphonic Metal
The picture of river, dike and polder shown at 5:46 never gets the recognition it deserves, in my opinion. Have a good look at it and realise the crazy reality of life in half the country, and the guts and stamina people must have had to decide on shaping it into what it is today and keep up with it. Those dikes are great places for cycling, by the way.
I don’t think you will be able to catch up with the Geography Now episodes. You have 61 episodes until you are caught up. Unless you do a marathon where you react to a bunch of episodes back to back in one video and repeat that over multiple days. Then you could get caught up. I think the Geography Now series will have been over for a long time before you will finish it.
10:50 why? because it is f*cking delicious. They are not comparable to sprinkles you find in the USA (or any other country). This is real chocolate, not fake stuff (if you have the proper brands and not the "dollar store" knock offs). You don't like chocolate on your bread? As for the carrots, the story might not be actually true. Recent research suggest they have been bred way before the House of Orange came to power but they are cultivated by Dutch farmer. As for other colors... find a proper greengrocer that sells heirloom stuff. You can find them in white, purple, red... heck a whole load of different colors. You probably won't find them in your local walmart or target. As for the map with the provinces, the province in the botom south/east is called Limburg, not Limberg and the islands above the country are cleed the Wadden Islands, not Walden Islands.
This channel sucks at Dutch history. A remaining kingdom? Willem of Orange the first king? Appearently they are completely ignorant about the Dutch Republic.
de Republiek der verenigde zeven Nederlanden had geen Koning. Alle vorsten die over het gebied wat nu Nederland is hebben geregeerd voor Oranje waren buitenlandse indringers. Willem ! was de eerste Nederlandse vorst.
William of Orange-Nassau was the first King, it's just not the same guy as William (the Silent) of Orange-Nassau. The first King just wasn't a big thing and the channel couldn't keep all the WIlliam seperate from eachother. Also can you timestamp the part where they talk about a remainging Kingdom, can't find it.

10:56 Why? Because hagelslag (name of the sprinkles) on buttered bread is delicious! Especially the pure chocolate version. 😊

4:30 they actually do, this is how I know them, in primary school in the Nehterlands
7:05 That purple area actually represents well over half of the population of the Netherlands.

Btw, it's actually Limburg not Limberg ;)
And Wadden, not Walden.
